Catrinas Mexican Grill and Bar

THE BEST FAJITAS!!! and about 8 different varieties of them!!! I usually overlook fajitas on a menu, meh. Theirs are so flavorful and blew me away!!Got the hawaiiana fajitas, which had a super yummy spicy cheese sauce over a combo of beef, chicken, peppers, and pineapple. Big portion, i had leftovers!Great vibes too!! Huge picture windows, gorgeous rich colors, vibrant art on the walls. Comfortable booths!!!Gone about 5 times and the service is always excellent. Really kind waitstaff. Sometimes there can be a bit of a language barrier, but its no big deal we always get what we ordered. We're all humans :) I'll definitely keep coming back!!

This restaurant is fine. I came here for a rehearsal dinner for a friend of mine. For the crowd I was with this was a great choice. The decor is fun and the service was attentive and the portions are massive.I ordered the jalapeño marg and it was tasty. The tajin rim did a lot of heavy lifting, I wish that it were spicier. For my meal I order the burrito bandera which was good. The combination of the different meats and the pineapple actually worked. This place was playing the hits and nobody left disappointed.

Disappointing. For context, it was a weekend afternoon with minimal staff and a very large group of people celebrating a birthday, but my experience was still disappointing and confirms for me a majority of the Mexican restaurants in Sun Prairie are just not worth it.First off, there was no one at the host stand, so I stood there like an idiot, unsure whether anyone was going to come and seat me or if I was supposed to seat myself as there was no sign. Finally someone did come and seat me, and boy, was he a joy. Barely acknowledged me at all and didn't bother putting in a minimum amount of effort until he was probably told that he would have to wait on me too. The complimentary chips were good. The salsa was pretty freaking bland with only a touch of heat on the back end. It was like eating a bowl of tomato puree with a couple small of crushed chilis thrown in. And you could see there were onions and maybe cilantro added, but you sure couldn't taste it. For a drink, I decided to get a margarita, and even with the happy hour pricing, it was definitely overpriced, though I'm glad I splurged for a medium instead of a small. It tasted good, but even then, you could tell it was a "house" margarita with cheap tequila, so they were definitely making sure to inflate their margin on the drink. And then after waiting almost 45 minutes for my food to arrive--after watching the people next to me who were seated after my arrival get their food first--a plate of disappointment was set down in front of me. My entree was a grilled one, and all three of the meats--chicken, steak, and shrimp--were on cooked on that grill until dry. The only thing that made them palatable was the moisture provided by the cheese sauce. I guess I should be thankful the meat was at least seasoned, unlike over at Gloria's. I only finished about a third of it before I gave up. And my server continued his stellar service by only checking on me once and not even offering to get me a refill or another drink.So, yeah. Service and food were both mediocre, which ticked me off when it came time to pay. And they don't make it clear, but you have to pay at the host stand. Maybe that's just a non-dinner hour thing due to staffing, but I always feel like I'm in a Denny's if I'm forced to pay at the host stand in a sit-down restaurant. To sum it up, this is another establishment I will not be returning to if I have to be the one to pay.

Service was fast and very friendly. The food was delicious, only spicy if you added hot sauce.

Nice ambience, great service. Complimentary WARM fresh chips and salsa always a plus! The best watermelon mojito, it was sooo good. Had the California grilled chicken with rice and veggies and it was delicious with flour tortillas. Might try the tacos and enchiladas next time when I am off the clean eating. I would recommend they try a tastier oil to fry the chips as they had a funky flavor to me.

After shopping in the area We decided to try it out for Dinner. The staff was was all friendly and helpful. The tables are spaced out nicely so you are not sitting directly on top of the next table. We were there on a Thursday so there wasn't a large crowd so that may have been a help as well.The Food- The chips and salsa, as others have said, are... just that chips and salsa, nothing 'bad'.. but certainly not award winning. I will say they were VERY quick to refill BOTH our chips and salsa, Thank you!!! -My order...... I ordered the Cuatas (two chimichangas, 1 beef, 1 chicken), what was placed down in front of me had shredded chicken and grilled shrimp. The error was PROMPTLY corrected and I was enjoying my dish quickly.In the end I think they are still going through some "new business" growing pains, which I'm totally ok with. I'll gladly come back to try other menu items!!

I really enjoyed my lunch at Catrina's! The chimichanga was outstanding, the salsa and chips were really tasty, and I enjoyed the rice and beans as well. Our server was attentive and kind. The restaurant itself is nice and new with a fun atmosphere. Great new spot in Sun Prairie that is easy to get to with plenty of parking.

Had the Catrinas burrito and it had a good amount of steak,shrimp and cheese sauce. Margaritas were good and the rest of the crew was happy with there meal! Nice place with pleasant staff!

Our experience was meh. My daughter ordered a taco platter and there was no cheese on her taco. Strange. My enchilada and burrito were subpar. Flavorless ground beef drowning in sauce with no cheese. Even my hungry husband passed on my leftovers. We won't be back. Plus side. Service was great and food was fast. Now they just need to work on the food.

Been here a couple different times and have had great service and delicious food. The place has been very clean when I've been there as well. Usually high chairs at restaurants can be pretty gnarly, but the ones here were super clean. Had the carne asada tacos and they had a ton of meat and everything was fresh and well seasoned.
