Cathay Garden

The food was average. The other two Asian restaurants are both better. The service was late. The price on the menu listed here is out of date and some items are triple the listed price. None of the prices are correct. Whatever you do don't order anything else. The veggie dish I ordered is listed on the lunch menu for $5.25. With a larger white rice, soup and gravy, my total was $27.32.

This is our go-to for Chinese food. Delightful, friendly owners and staff. We drive two hours to eat here! The food is always hot and delicious. My favorite is the Moo Shu Pork, which is easily shared with another, or plan to take home enough for a "leftovers" night meal!The crab rangoon is the best anywhere, the egg rolls are savory and leave you wanting more.If you're craving good Chinese food, you won't be disappointed.

Used to be good. Check out the pic I took today of my favorite dish from Cathay on the left and the same dish from Asian Express on the right. Asian express was hands down the best on appearance and more importantly, taste. Cathay needs to up their game.

I ordered take out was over charge 10.00 and got a very small plastic container. I will not go back.

When ever I visit Portage WiI have to eat there .Love the food.I live in Surprise AZ and haven't found good Asian food like Cathay .

It was average at best as the fried rice was dry and typically had chicken in it as well. I would not go back because my father's chicken tasted like water in it, which made it very bland, and I had general Tso, which was a bit mild for that type of dish and could have been spicier.

I've compared Cathay Garden with some of the top spots recommended in Madison and this place seems better than any of them. The quality is excellent, the serving sizes are plentiful and the menu options are numerous.

Food was perfect! I got the beef Mongolian and crab Rangoon. Nice people and atmosphere.

Our service was great! Food~ delicious! We ordered 5 entrees, 3 starters and some soup. And we were very comfortable even with our large party! Looking forward to our next visit.

So I am from Chicago, Illinois and I am visiting around the area for vacation. One thing to say whenever I order take out is that there is always something wrong either the shrimp was too hard for the shrimp fried rice, the orange chicken was not "orangey" or the egg rolls was not made well.. this for sure was not the case. The food was mouth watering to where I nearly wanted to eat everything. I am with 7 other people on vacation and if I did that, they would've left me here haha.Not only was the food delicious and surprised me that it was so well but the customer service was so nice. There was a married couple (by the looks of it, possibly the owners) and they were very welcoming and tried to be accommodating by offering plates without us even asking, they made us felt like we were back at home. I love this place and it's so sad that it's not back at home in Chicago.
