Nothing to do on a Monday when your off and everyone you know is working, let's check out the local dive bars. Looks like my work schedule isn't changing any time soon so off on Monday is the norm for now and with so many places closed I'm finding out maybe Monday will become a drink in a new place that doesn't have much Yelp exposure or pictures, I can't eat out all the time like I used to but I still want to participate in Yelp.Today was Capt'n Nicks turn for a Steve stop by to check them out. I got rockstar parking at the front door which was cool. This is another neighborhood dive bar and I will try not to do dive bars only. The place is locals and they didn't me feel out of place at all and the woman bartender was friendly and sassy with the patrons, l like when there is a cool personality behind the bar instead of grumpy. Monday is some $1 dollar can special domestic I'm sure and not that I'm snob but my tastes have grown past that to the gins, bourbons and cocktails etc. I'm still a fan of the beer and burger lunch but cocktails is where I'm gravitating to as I get older. I have yet to meet a bartender who knows what a gin Rickey is, it started in the 1890s and it was very popular but no one drinks them today, it's a 0 sugar cocktail and if you're trying to keep your A1C level in check it's perfect. Yes she had no idea of how to make it so I had to explain the drink to her.Overall it's a friendly neighborhood dive bar with a great sassy short hair woman bartender who gives it back to you which makes for good bar banter.

Cheap beer and weird people.. what more could you want??Yes, the beer is cheap, but they need to clean their lines more often. You can taste the dirty in the beers, and sometimes you'll get sick from it. Probably best to stay with bottled or canned stuff here. Some of the bartenders are nice, and some are very indifferent. Be ready for copious amounts of Nickelback playing on the jukebox. It's a interesting corner afterbar, when you need "just one more" for the night.

Super cool and down to earth neighborhood dive bar with a vintage flair. It features an original Circle bar, bowling machine and there's even a payphone in the corner. A col is just two dollars good people and family conversation. Check it out.

A dive small bar that is crowded and has alot of people over served and drunk. The place could use a remodel and is pretty run down and dark. Peoplexwere seen smoking inside despite this being Wisconsin and not Indiana. The bathrooms ate atrocious and place may not have had a spring cleaning since 1977

There are times that you just don't feel like dealing with the huge, loud sports bar atmosphere. When feeling that way, I would definitely suggest checking out Capt'n Nicks. This place is a nice little corner bar located in the heart of West Allis, not too far from State Fair Park. It's a great place to catch the latest Brewers, Badgers, or Packers game. I recently met a friend here for drinks after work. Our bartender was very nice and always made sure I had a refill on my drink. The drinks are reasonably priced, and they have delicious popcorn to snack on while you enjoy your adult beverage. The regulars that frequent the place are pretty nice and will chat with you. I will definitely make sure to stop back here again.

Capt'n Nicks is a small, cozy bar tucked away a block south of State Fair Park at the corner of Orchard and 81st. Inside is a horseshoe bar with a couple of tables against the wall, a jukebox, and a nautical theme that wouldn't be seen if you aren't looking for it. I've only been here a couple of times, but whenever I am in the area I think of stopping in. My first experience with this bar was on the way to a Brewers game. My friends and I were looking for a bar that would be open before 11am, and it just so happened that Capt'n Nicks had been open since 6am (they open this early every day). From the moment we stepped in we were treated as regulars, even though it was our first time. We ordered a round of Bloody Marys, which I never really loved (they were delicious!), and enjoyed the atmosphere for about an hour until we had to leave. I returned recently on my way to catch a race at the Milwaukee Mile. I wasn't treated any differently than the first time, which goes a long way in my book. I had some great conversation with some of the regulars, had a few drinks, and after a while I noticed that I had forgotten to go see the race in person...Anyway...cheap beer, great service, nice jukebox selections, and a good mix of regulars makes this a bar I will definitely be going back to!

This your typical Milwaukee style corner bar!!! Located in the heart of West Allis! Cheap drinks they play bar dice and have shake if the day. With a dart broad, old school bowling machine, and jukebox. Along with 5 slot machines... The regulars are very friendly and bartenders with shoot the shit with ya. Seems to always have the game on whatever it may be. If your looking for a cheap place to unwind after work or watch the big game without the huge crowd of normal sports bars this is the spot for you!
