And the food is both delicious and inventive. The restaurant has been busy both times I've visited but I was able to get a seat at the bar. They have Valentine coffee. Service is always attentive and nice.I have had the shakshuka on my first visit. There are lots of variations on this dish out there. I liked Story Hill BKC's with its sumac mayo and smoked lentils. The naan bread is perfect for capturing the perfect bite. More recently I had the spinach and mushroom waffle. I almost overlooked it on the menu but I'm glad I tried it. It's a savory waffle with poached eggs, feta, shallot marmalade, drizzled with a little truffle oil and accompanied by broccolini and a small salad. The dish had a nice balance of light and heavy elements. There is a nice selection of desserts and bakery items. I had the day's coffee cake--triple chocolate. I tried to take small bites and enjoy it with my coffee. The menu seems to change from time to time and there were a few specials available. The people sitting next to me said that they'd never had anything bad there. This is definitely on the rotation when I'm in the area."

Amanda S. "Who says you can't have pie for breakfast? You absolutely can, as much as some might disagree. I had an amazing start to my day at Honeypie Cafe! Before we allowed myself to get lost on not one, but two pieces of pie, we chowed down on the Breakfast Casserole. This is a party in a bowl, filled with biscuit, roasted potatoes, the most delicious house made sausage gravy I've ever had, white cheddar, and chunks of bacon all enveloped in a sunny side egg. It was hard to get a good picture, but the video says it all in 8 seconds. This dish was indulgent. Once that was well polished off, we treated ourselves to slices of Strawberry Rhubarb and Lemon Icebox pie to try a fruit and cream. Both were EXCELLENT. The Strawberry Rhubarb was wonderfully sweet and tart and yummy. The Lemon Icebox was topped with real whipped cream and based on a crumbly graham crust. It was refreshing. We hardly left a crumb behind of either. The service was excellent! Our server checked on us periodically and always made sure our coffee cups stayed filled. I highly recommend this place! It can get busy so I suggest you get there early!"

The food is really delectable: above average bar food that is served in heaps - not small amounts! Their beers are mixed, both local and out of state. In case you have questions about, drinks; just ask, the staff knows their drinks and dishes. It has some quaint 2-top tables, if you need a more date like atmosphere. There's no view from the bar, but I (of course) got my food faster than table-dining people who ordered way before me. Excellent meats, beers, burgers, fish and side dishes - try them paired (ask bar men) with an ice cold local beer! Awesome dive bar and date (-ish) joint with skeletons, wine, signs, ghouls, ivy, booze and low lighting. Review: 4"

Lisa T. "This restaurant was highly recommended by my friends and family in Milwaukee; and it did not disappoint. It is a farm to table restaurant and everything is grown fresh on their farm or from local sources. The menu is spectacular: everything from soups and salads to fish, chicken, veal and even ethnic dishes like tacos, stir-fry, and jambalaya. It's also unique that the food items are separated by price point. I went for lunch on a Tuesday with four family members. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Our waiter was Joe and he was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. My aunt had mentioned that we needed to get the creamed corn as an appetizer because they were famous for it. We ordered two servings and they came out quickly. Boy were they delicious! I would never think of getting creamed corn as an appetizer, but it truly was out of this world with fresh corn and bits of bacon and peppers in a creamy sauce! We also had the arancini for an appetizer and it was good. For my meal I had a wedge salad and a cup of lentil soup. The salad was huge and super fresh! It also had cherry tomatoes, shredded cheese, and bits of bacon with a thousand island style dressing, very yummy! The soup was a huge portion, more like a bowl, with huge chunks of ham and cilantro. It was just ok. My husband had the short rib tacos and he said the filling was really good, but the tortillas didn't hold together very well. My cousins had the jambalaya and stir fry with shrimp. They said they were really good as well. My aunt had the meatloaf, (she gets it all the time,) and she stated that it was really delicious because they make their meatloaf with steak. All the portions were huge, and we had to ask for several to-go boxes. In addition to the excellent food, the restaurant is really beautiful inside. We visited a few days before Thanksgiving and the entire dining room was decorated with Christmas trees. I was very impressed with Parkside 23 and would definite recommend dining here if you get the opportunity."

The French toast was perfectly soft with a slight crisp to the outside, subtly savory, spiced, and sweet cookie butter mousse, topped with crisp chocolate cookie crumbles and coco nibs. Ophelia M. "Buckatabon Tavern & Supper Club is quintessentially Wisconsin and still--so amazing. It's the perfect blend of regional cuisine, north woods inspired decor, and a comfortable coziness that puts this diner immediately at ease. I stopped by most recently for a date night. I ordered the meat raffle Manhattan because it's one of the better Manhattans to be had in the Milwaukee metro, in my humble Manhattan swilling opinion. It's just the right blend of vermouth and local bourbon--plus they don't over do it with bitters. And, hey... the meat stick garnish is an interesting (and tasty!) touch. For our starter, did we order the deviled eggs?We sure did. They have the best deviled eggs on the menu that vary and are never quite the same as the last time you ordered them and yet always equally delicious. For my main, I got the wild mushroom stroganoff. It was my first time ordering this dish and will by no means be my last. It was the perfect blend of savory mushrooms, a creamy sour cream based sauce, noodles, and a slight crispiness from a sprinkling of panko--it was a delight. We decided to take a couple of pieces of cake to take home to enjoy while watching an episode of the Great British Baking Show. Because, that show is just better if you have your own sweetness to enjoy while watching them bake theirs. And, thankfully, Buckatabon served us dessert that tasted every bit as good as anything on the show looked.Get to it!"

The meatballs were a perfectly firm texture with the right amount of seasoning. The Brussels sprouts were as great as they look in the photo! My friend ordered the Ricotta Gnocchi, and I ordered the Bucatini Bolognese. The pasta and gnocchi are made in house. I had a couple pieces of her gnudi (gnocchi made from ricotta) and found them to bee too dense, but the sauce they were served in was delicious! My bucatini was a perfect texture, and the bolognese sauce tasted great! It's made with wagyu beef and Berkshire pork, so I wish the sauce had a lot less cream, so the meat could stand out in a thinner tomato sauce. Again, great flavor! For dessert, we shared the Chocolate Sachet, filled with white chocolate mousse and raspberry puree, and it was mind blowingly decadent! The Limoncello Chambord Mousse with sugar cookie was also decadent, but the Chocolate Sachet was our favorite! We each ordered a cocktail. I had the Blood Orange Manhattan, and it was one of the best cocktails I've ever had! Their cocktail program is pretty strong! I've enjoyed many over the years from them. Our service from Emily and Mary was on point! They were both fun and personable. We're here enough that the delightful servers pretty much know what we're getting. They're all completely great & the #1 reason we come here because they treat us like family. * The food - I get the same thing every time (pretty much) and the consistency and deliciousness is ON POINT. The mister changes it up - sometimes a creative special, sometimes breakfast, sometimes a decadent Peppercorn Horsey burger. No matter what we get, it's delicious, well executed and served up fast!* The Space - this is one of the few places I feel good about dining in during These Unprecedented Times (god I hate that phrase almost as much as I hate 2020). Slide into the big oversized booths with high partitions and the Covid can't get you. I see the care that's taken with cleaning too so I trust that I'm as safe as I can be here. It had red lights, hightop seating, and a cozy space. We were there around 8:30ish on a Friday night and quickly found an open table. A waitress quickly came to take care of us. We're doing dry January, and they had 2 options. The Bees Have No Knees was ok, but the N/A Bird Shirt was very good. I would go back for drinks again.I wouldn't recommend this place if you have allergies. Asking the kitchen came across as a hassle. I tried the fishsticks, and I was disappointed. The remoulade was very good, but the actual fish stick was super dry and had no flavor at all. Our friends had the shrimp and said it was really good. I ordered the grilled pear and roquefort tarte, foie gras, duck, and Banana Butterscotch Toffee Tart as dessert. Doing the course set menu left us full! I had opted out of the wine pairing as I had to drive 1.5 hours home.Honestly, all of the food was great. The duck was possibly the best I've ever had. The desserts are on the sweeter side but if you kind of sample everything on the dessert, the flavors meld well and cut the entire sweetness.Service was excellent and since we went when the place opened at 5, there was ample street parking. Baba Ganoush with pita bread was pretty good but not enough pita comes with it so if you ask for more bread it's $2 per pita . You could come here for a date night or a quick bite before or after a show at the Cactus Club (the night we came, Jack White was playing there). I regret not getting pictures of all the concert posters on the wall, but they were really cool. My husband was especially excited because two of his favorite bands made appearances (the smoking popes and old 97's).
