"On my last night in Madison, I wanted something local that was casual, but not as casual as just burgers and sandwiches. To that my buddy recommended Quivey's Grove - Stable Grill. Quivey's Grove is two restaurants in one with the main house being a full dining and semi-upscale experience. While the Stabke Grill is a casual, old school style steakhouse vibe with all wooden walls, floors, tables, seating along with dim lights and a slightly limited menu from across the sidewalk. It wasn't busy when we arrived, so we bellied up the bar and were immediately greeted by the bartender (Cory, I believe). He was excellent from start to finish! We ordered a few cocktails to get us started then settled on a couple of entrees including the schnitzel and meatloaf. The schnitzel was perfectly crispy, thin and the mushrooms and butter sauce on top set it off! The meatloaf was tasty, but not the best I've had. Was a bit firmer than I am used to and the red potatoes were like warm. Nothing that detracted from the dish as a whole, but definitely noticeable. During our meals we were talking sports and the bartender switched the tv for us so we could finish the Yankees game. Very cool of him! Overall, we enjoyed ourselves at Quivey's. Not sure I would rush back during my next visit to Madison, but I wouldn't run away either."
"Awesome cozy British pub with some of the most delish beer-battered cheese curds I've had. Came in on a Wednesday night before a bucks game, and were able to squeeze in a happy hour drink. Our server was fantastic, she did a great job managing both the tables and the patrons at the bar. After whetting our appetite with the curds and an order of the Caesar Brussels sprouts, I was too full for a main but others enjoyed their burgers ($6 burger night on Wednesday!) My smashed peas and side salad were perfect. Would return and recommend!"
"Great local place, friendly staff, but service at the bar has gone downhill since Chanda departed. By that I mean slightly less efficient. Received my drink promptly, but after 20 minutes, I called in my order while sitting at the bar. Don't get me wrong, we love this place & the staff. We understand that it's difficult to find and retain staff as well as determine staffing levels on any given night. Lots of new faces today."
"Stopped here to meet friends for a drink. I liked the ambiance of the place, lots of tables and two separate bar areas. They have a nice fireplace and patio too! We tried a few appetizers:-Cheese curds, comes with ranch: the ranch is good! It didn't taste like it came from a bottle. The curds are interesting. They look like deep fried tofu cubes, and although they tasted good, I found most of it was breading. At first I thought it was a mix of white and yellow cheddar but the white was undercooked batter. I probably wouldn't order them again.-Fried Green Beans, comes with ranch: These were very good! The batter has a slight kick but not overly spicy. I recommend them and would order again.-Salsa and Chips: I only tried the chips which were good and tasted freshly made. A small portion of salsa is included. They have a good menu so I'll be back to try the fish fry and other items. Our server was friendly and the bathrooms were clean. Overall, a nice place to grab some food or drinks!"
"They won 2024 Cap Times Burger Week championship. Pull tab popper burger was the one that won the competition, and was available till the end of June. So stopped by to try it. It was a real flavorful burger worthy of the title. It even had 2 jalapeno poppers in it. The burger was flavorful with a lot of bacon and aioli. It was a big burger. Eating it was a messy affair. Had I had this burger during the burger week, I would have voted for it too. For side, I went for Frolic fries, which was funnel caked fried to resemble french fries. End of the day it is still funnel cake."
"Ferraro's hits a grand slam with their pizza. The result of their superb ingredients is an overall masterpiece. The crust is great, not buttery. The sauce is robust, not ketchupy. The sausage and pepperoni, both well spiced. And the star of the show for me was the cheese. The mozz is fatty and buttery making each bite so gooey!I went three times last week, once for a think crust, and twice for deep dish. Son of a gun...writing this is making me all sorts of hangry so it looks like it's Bears and Ferraro's today."

I took out lunch from here on a Friday. This place was in a silent area. They have a dedicated parking lot. And it was mostly empty at that time. I was there for the fish fry and was not sure which one to go for. So finally decided to go with the fish combo. Cod fry was the best, and whitefish fry coming in as a second. Baked code was ok. Cross plains chicken was my other item. That was really good as well. The smashed potato that came with it was really good.

First time here. I'm not sure if l, when we did decide to order it was a while before getting someone to wait on us. I'm sure us siting at a table having brought our drinks didn't help us. When our server did show and he was nice, however it take take over 20min to get water for the table. The food was ok. And this is just my personal option, the fish was a little bland, as was the breading and coleslaw. The fries did have some seasoning on them but some of them were cold in the middle. I don't know if coming back is going to happen, I know it just won't be first on my list of where to go for a fish fry.

Came in early (about 5pm) on a Saturday for dinner and it was not very busy. Our server was very friendly and recommended the mushroom onion burger to me (it was delicious). Prices were reasonable and the food was all very good. We will be back.

We grabbed takeout - easy to order, ready quickly, and everything was piping hot. The bar is always busy, and there is a friendly vibe. We had a cod fish fry, which comes with 3 big pieces of fish, tartar, steamed carrots, slaw, a slice of rye, and your choice potato, and the Cali chicken wrap with fries. Both had generous portions, and were very good. We'd definitely do that again - super easy way to grab a Friday fish fry!

This is a take out only restaurant. They have a variety of items such as appetizers, chicken and fish buckets, Italian dishes and sandwiches. They are not bad but the pizza is what gives the place 5 stars. Nothing beats a local pizza place in my opinion. The staff is friendly and efficient. They have a wide variety of toppings. They have the cracker thin crust but do also have a stuffed and hand tossed available. Also the bar next door allows you to bring in their food while you are having a good time there.

Service was excellent very friendly staff. Little confusing when you enter, no host or signing to seat yourself . Place is definitely hard to find, signs are confusing it's basically behind the Lotis Inn attached to Midlane Country Club. It was Friday and I had fish but went with baked to be "healthy". Was kinda salty tasting but overall the meal was delicious. My partner had the steak sandwich it's served open faced with fries and au jus. Small place with great seating and service. Gaming room for those interested.

"State Fair Inn was a fantastic option for Fish Fry this past weekend. The place has a very vintage supper club vibe with plenty of food options for even the pickiest of eaters.Service was a bit slow, but we were in no rush and they were certainly friendly. I had the pan fried lake perch - so yummy! The meals are served with soup and salad - very supper clubby - right? The vintage decor, dimly lit lighting and vinyl clad bar stools are a clear indication that this place has seen some days! A hidden gem for sure - I would recommend stopping in!"
"Food was yummy and our server Karri was amazing we will be back. Hidden gem that Wisconsin peeps didn't know about. Thanks yelp!"
"Fast service, fish was fresh, seasoning & flavor of hush puppies was delicious.Mac&cheese was a big portion and a bit watery.staff was very friendly."
"Very cool concept. You've got an archery/crossbow area, a sporting goods store and a restaurant/bar all in one stop. We came uncle lunch one day and it wasn't too crazy busy. Our server was very friendly and took great care of us. The food was good and the place was clean."
"Chickenlicious. Different than KFC and that other typical fried chicken place. Don't be alarmed of the bullet proof glass between the cashier and seating area..."
"Our family has liked every item on the menu. We keep coming back every week for more brisket, pulled pork, and brisket sloppy joes. Today, I had smoked turkey ribs and was quite surprised how much I liked it. As an added bonus, the owners and I always have a good conversation."
"The food here was well seasoned with ample portions. I had heard of this place but always thought about it after hours so I was happy to give it a try. This is my favorite Sunday Meal; Chicken, Mac & Cheese & Sweet Potatoes. It was so good. It hit the spot. I was glad that the reviews about this place is true."
"Food isn't good nor is it bad, its meh at best. Thats about the best thing to describe this location is meh. No need for small talk, pleasantries, or greetings. You get in, order, receive order, then you go."
