Buckatabon Tavern & Supper Club is quintessentially Wisconsin and still--so amazing. It's the perfect blend of regional cuisine, north woods inspired decor, and a comfortable coziness that puts this diner immediately at ease. I stopped by most recently for a date night. I ordered the meat raffle Manhattan because it's one of the better Manhattans to be had in the Milwaukee metro, in my humble Manhattan swilling opinion. It's just the right blend of vermouth and local bourbon--plus they don't over do it with bitters. And, hey... the meat stick garnish is an interesting (and tasty!) touch. For our starter, did we order the deviled eggs?We sure did. They have the best deviled eggs on the menu that vary and are never quite the same as the last time you ordered them and yet always equally delicious. For my main, I got the wild mushroom stroganoff. It was my first time ordering this dish and will by no means be my last. It was the perfect blend of savory mushrooms, a creamy sour cream based sauce, noodles, and a slight crispiness from a sprinkling of panko--it was a delight. We decided to take a couple of pieces of cake to take home to enjoy while watching an episode of the Great British Baking Show. Because, that show is just better if you have your own sweetness to enjoy while watching them bake theirs. And, thankfully, Buckatabon served us dessert that tasted every bit as good as anything on the show looked.Get to it!

Let me start by saying our past experiences have been fine here. We'd dined in trying their Chicken Schnitzel, Prime Rib and Salmon which were all delicious. We'd also ordered takeout fish fries during Covid that were brought out to our car by staff and arrived home hot because we live less than 5 minutes from the restaurant.Tonight we placed 2 Perch Dinner orders online and were extremely disappointed in the quality and accuracy of the order. Both dinners were tepid when they arrived (at the time we had requested) but without the marble rye bread listed on their menu. Because the fish wasn't even warm it was quite greasy, (and rewarming it in the microwave only made it soggy), the potato pancakes were really overdone and had the consistency of cardboard. It was like biting into a pancake made from Grape Nuts. It's sad that the only upside of this order was that apple sauce was tasty and nicely spiced with cinnamon and the coleslaw was both crisp and creamy (though the cup was less than 3/4 filled). So bad I couldn't finish it!The quality control seems to be lacking. I would never have sent out food this lackluster. Lesson...If we ever return we will eat in-house and not chance another delivery from this establishment.Edit...Thank you to the management of Buckatabon, they responded to my review and made the transaction right via a refund. I've changed the star rating and will give them another try in the future.

Ambiance is always cute here. Over the top up north vibes, including Christmas lights on the bar.We opted for a big booth for happy hour on Wednesday. Specifically stopped in for this happy hour - on Wednesday (all day, per the website), they offer $4 old fashioneds, $4 taps, and half off curds. You can get a pound of curds for $10 :) However, after we ordered a few things, our server told us the paper menus had the "real" details of the Wednesday happy hour - limited from 3-6pm and didn't include the cheese curd special. We were told it's because the website hasn't been updated yet. We were still given the special but bummed that things weren't matching up.Our server was nice enough and kept checking in with us. We had drinks and food and since happy hour ended earlier than we thought, we ended up heading out. Food was good. Recommend with reservations. Double check specials before ordering!

Very disappointed. Ordered 2 perch dinners for delivery. We live about 5 minutes from the location. Food was cold. Potato pancakes were burned and hard like a hockey puck. Inedible! No rye bread. If we were eating in the restaurant, the food would have been sent back to the kitchen. Not worth $20 apiece!

Stopped by Buckatabon for Saturday Brunch after walking through the Christmas market down the street. I love the outdoorsy, supper club vibe when you're inside. There's a ton of tables on the 1st and second floors and outdoor heated igloos in the winter which would be fun if you had a group. We started out with the white peach Bellini and Flannel pajamas cocktail (apple cider with brandy). We ordered the Wisconsinite breakfast with scrambled eggs instead of sunny side up as well as the hot hot ham & roll sliders. I loved the jalapeño on the sliders to make them spicy. Highly recommend as a shareable or meal. Our server was great and she helped us pick drinks and food. We received our drinks and food quickly and service was attentive.

We went with some friends on a Sunday night for dinner and were pleasantly surprised how good it was. To be honest some people had mentioned they had a bad experience here so we were a bit nervous to bring our friends here but the service was great and the food was wonderful. We all had an old fashion to start with and each of us ordered a different flavor, they have 5 or 6 different kinds of old fashions. All really great flavor. We order the deviled eggs and the maple and bacon Brussels sprouts as appetizers and they were awesome. I totally forgot to take pictures of them.I had the pecan crusted trout with a small Cesar salad as my main course and it was a lot of food and all very tasty. We finished with a brandy Alexander ice cream drink that my wife and I split. Great flavor and hadn't had one in years. Our waiter was very nice and super attentive.

Birthday celebration at Buckatabon was 6 stars worthy! Husband and I were sat at the cutest booth which was both cozy and spacious for us on our date night. We enjoyed cocktails, him an old fashion and myself a cosmo and both were excellent. He opted for the bone in pork chop while I went with the chicken schnitzel. I took a few bites of my meal and said "wow this is so good" and decided to swab taste tests with my husband, and when I tried his I said "woah that's excellent". Needless to say I thought my meal was going to be the better of the two but was pleasantly surprised that his meal was even better! So many fabulous flavors at play making for a meal to remember. We were also given an eclair cake for dessert which was scrumptious. I have already recommended this restaurant to a few friends for celebrations and date nights in the future.

Dined at Buckatabon tonight and the experience was okay. I will say the location is great as it is right in the river in Wauwatosa and you are able to sit outside with a nice view! While the view was nice, I wasn't very impressed with the food. We got the wedge salad and chicken schnitzel. The wedge salad was just a chunk of lettuce with no toppings very overpriced and the schnitzel was just okay. In addition to that, the service was not the best as our waitress never came to check on us. Overall, it was just an okay experience.

Food was good! Service was a little slow but definitely more pro's than con's. Extensive cocktail menu too. We will definitely return.
