Pleasantly surprised with this joint! We went a little wary with the underwhelming reviews, but it was close, I was hungry, and it was happy hour (3-6).The Happy Hour specials are pretty neat - $2 off drafts (and they have a huge selection), half off appetizers, and $5 well spirits.Oh, and cuz it was a Wednesday, half off all whiskeys!Being 5pm on a Wednesday, the place was pretty empty and the sign up front said bar seating only. Which was empty too, so it was fine. Our server was not all smiles, but a bit more shy-ish, but not curt or rude, just shy-like. She was quite nice and service was prompt and efficient. Interior was on the darker side (it's a bar), but tastefully done and clean. TVs were great and sitting in the bar afforded some awesome views of the soccer game going on at the time. Oh, the place is located inside the Bayshore Mall, on the second floor, next to the movie theater. Park in the Lydell garage, second floor, and you can come right into the building.Cheese curdsThese were great! Not hands down the best I've had, but very well done, quite tasty and came with a neat honey mustard sauce that felt very different from other honey mustards I've had. Crab and Goat Cheese BallsFive balls of deep fried cheese balls atop honey (says honey orange sauce, but it tasted like good honey), garnished with green onions. Not my cup of tea, but I knew going in cuz I'm not a fan of goat cheese. Hubby wanted to try, but didn't seem really wowed either.WingsVery well done, moist on the inside and crispy on the outside, just like I like it! Didn't try any naked ones and they don't have dry rub, so we just had the tossed in 2 sauces. For 18 wings, we can choose 3, but we just went with 2. They came in rectangular bowls, and were tossed in sauce, and also swimming in sauce (which we could dunk our cheese curds in... yum)Scotch glaze - very honey-ey with a tang of scotch as an aftertaste. On the sweet side. Sweet Garlic Teriyaki - very sweet. Too sweet to taste the garlic. I'll pass on this next time. Next time, try the Buffalo (two guys who came in after us got 18 of them just Buffalo, and they looked good). Perhaps try the bourbon BBQ. Maybe naked with sauce on side?IPABoulevard Wheat - nah. PassTerrapin Hopsecutioner IPA - quite hoppy, melikes.Terrapin High and Hazy IPA - Hany Likes. Really good.Overall an awesome happy hour dinner! The wings were so good and at such a great price point being half off that we didn't try the burgers, but we will definitely be back, so we'll try them next time.

Had to wander out for a Monday night dinner when we found out this UK inspired restaurant finally opened up! Queue my British husband eager to get a taste of home. This is a great location; so happy to see it filled again with a new eatery. It sits inside Bayshore mall on the second floor across from the ACX Cinemas. My first impression was how wonderfully designed the restaurant is! It has a lovely and inviting exterior, and the the decor inside is great. You can tell there was a lot put into meeting the theme - wooden & plaid walls, proper English pub couches, Premier League flags hanging from the ceiling, signs and framed art work that certainly matched the concept. They did a really great job!We were one of the only tables in, as it's brand new and was a Monday night, so not too surprised. The staff seemed to still be in training, but our server was sweet nonetheless. We sat at a low top with a highchair for our son, who also got a kids menu for coloring. Off the bat we ordered him a kids cheeseburger meal, since we knew he'd be hungry asap. This came with a wildly-generous amount of fries and two cheese burger sliders. Our overall thought on the menu is that it's a bit high priced, but either way we were excited to give it a try! I stuck with water and my husband ordered a Stella from their large tap beer selection. He noted that it was hard to drink because it super really flat. As for food, I had a hankering for wings so I opted for the "Six Fired Smoked Wings" from the appetizer/shareable section of the menu. These were delicious, came dressed in a tasty bbq sauce, and had plenty of meat on the bone. Totally hit the spot! My husband went for the Bangers and Mash and was sadly disappointed. Granted he's from Northern England so he has high expectations, but I think the biggest crux was that there was no gravy (despite the menu listing there would be). If you're from the UK, you know having a classic dish like this without gravy is unthinkable ;)All in all, this is a beautiful venue and I hope to see it thriving in the coming weeks. As with any new establishment, they've got some kinks to iron out, so we'll have to plan a return at some point to give it another go.

Located where Bar Louie used to be, this "U.K. Inspired" restaurant offers menu choices that appealed to me and my Irish husband (which says a lot). The Build Your Own Old Fashioned menu is a clever idea and is a great way to explore new combos. We started off with the oysters, which were nicely sized, and were pleasantly surprised how the tartness of the green apples in the mignonette added the perfect amount of flavor alongside the shallots. We could have easily eaten another half a dozen! My husband ordered the Bangers and Mash, which he enjoyed. The Creamy Baked Onion and Leek Soup was rich, flavorful, and filling with generous sized strips of onion and leeks. We sat at the bar, and our service was prompt and friendly. This has always been a nice space with plenty of room, and it's still a cozy spot to stop by for a quick bite or to watch the game. We will definitely be going back.

Went for dinner on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised! We had the soup and the beef brisket sandwich - both super good. Got an old fashion, which is a design your own concept and super cool and only $10. The beer selection is huge and all on tap. The inside is cool and very welcoming for all ages. Our bartender, who was new was also awesome. It's exciting to finally see something reopen in the space! Will be back in the future.

Worst dining experience in years. We arrived on time for our reservations and waited at the hostess stand for around 5 minutes and no one showed up to check us in. A bartender yelled over that we could sit anywhere. This was St. Patrick's day and there was only 2 other parties at tables. It took 15 more minutes before a waitress came. She asked us what our order was but no one even gave us a menu yet. We ordered drinks. 10 minutes later she brings my husband's beer and told me my "hot toddy" would be a few more minutes. Well, I did not order a "hot toddy" so I reminded her I ordered a whiskey and coke. Finally my drink came and we placed our food order. Bangers and Mash for me and the smash burger for my husband. She did not write down our order. Food finally came and I got a brat sandwich with fries. I told her that is not what I ordered and she took the plate back and told us it would be another 5 minutes. In the mean time she brought us a "free" appetizer of their loaded fries. Well, they were cold and cheese was congealed. Totally inedible. Finally my dinner came out and it was truly awful. The bangers were luke warm and just awful. We did not see her again until she brought the check. My meal was at least taken off. Husband though the burger was ok but not worth the $16 price tag. Yikes - that was rough.Otherwise - it's supposed to be an English Pub sort of vibe. Well, the music was BLASTING loud house music and they were playing BET music videos on the TV. Wow. I expect that this place will be closed within the year. Terrible food, service and vibe. We won't be back.

Having trouble sticking to the old calorie limit on a Friday night? Look no further than Buchanans at Bayshore Mall!Water will be served promptly half an hour after you sit down and your food will actually never arrive and therefore be awkwardly negotiated off your check with three non plussed managers(?) as you rush off to catch the opening sequence of Kung Fu Panda 4.Great way to conserve cash and calories whilst dining with several small humans in a faux Scottish bar in a mall.

Have been there twice now with a friend. Both times a good experience. The biggest plus has been service. Both the bartenders and manager Grace were attentive, friendly, and efficient. The place has a wide choice of tap beers. Have not had a full meal, but the curry fries (dry, not smothered in sauce) were excellent. The wings are meaty and very tasty-nicely done buffalo style. They have a 414 Fries (essentially giant nacho plate but with fries instead of tortilla chips) that is very good. Sadly, they only have a house wine rather than a real choice of wines to drink. The interior of the place is essentially the same as the old Bar Louie, except for the addition of some British football club banners. But it is a warm and inviting space, especially given its large size. The bar does a nice job of dividing the room. We were on one side of the bar and could carry on a conversation comfortably even while a well-attended trivia session was happening on the other side. Great addition to the Glendale casual dining/bar scene.

So let me start with the truth. I did not want to come here due to a previous experience from when they first opened up. But my boy told me to give them a second shot based on his experience from St Patrick's Day. (they gave free cheese curds and gave kids free arcade tokens to their attached arcade) so I said ok. We went for March Madness. We ordered a few apps and some beers. The bartender Grace cool af. As a person who has worked in the food service industry, I feel that I have insight into good service. Grace truly championed this with her fast refills and friendly personable service. When I was in the industry there was a saying good service Can make up for or outweigh bad food. So now let's move on to the food. We ordered wings, scotch egg, and pub fries. We got the scotch egg because my buddy had never had one. As a person who has prep scotch eggs and cooked them, I feel I know they are supposed to be made. (scotch egg: hard-boiled egg wrapped in pork sausage then breaded and deep fried served with brown mustard.) when it came out and both Jonathan and Grace asked my buddy what he and I thought and I scored the scotch egg a 7.8 out of 10. Jonathan could not accept this as a score of what he knew they were capable of and without being asked re cooked one and brought it out for a second chance. I rated the second 9.3 but with the service factor, I rated it a 10! Jonathan and Grace have made a believer out of me. I will be back and highly recommend.
