Black Lung Brewing - Fox Lake

Great new location of a local brewery. It's mostly the same as far as the beer selection. Black Lung opened a second location in Fox Lake, so you can pull up here in a boat, car, or whatever. Has quite a few beers on tap as well as meads. The prices are pretty okay on most things. Came in here recently and we got a few beers. It's about $8 a pint. There's stronger ones that are more expensive but still not that much though. Best one I tried was the Jam Session: Strawberry-Peach Crumble. This is a sour, a Berliner Weisse. Had a pretty good sweetness to it. The other one that was a favorite was the Galaxy 503, an IPA that's not too hoppy and has a sweet taste. Also they have mead and smoothies if you want something besides beer. The beer is good but there's a lot more. Has a pretty cool atmosphere. It only has beer and mead so there's no food menu. There sometimes will be food trucks on weekends.

Kitchen is open. The day one menu was smashburgers and jerk chicken sandos. Good food, great variety of taps, great people. Talked to the owner, lots of cool stories and lots of heart. The whole idea of Black Lung is that his grandpa was from the coal mines in Kentucky. My family are from the area so it's a cool connection. The chef's parents stopped in for opening day too. Lovely. And there's a great view of the lake!They are not canning yet, but they are filling growlers. And they have an outdoor beer garden on the lake. Local authorities have been complaining about people walking around with open containers. Keep it respectful, people! We want a beautiful place like this to thrive. Right now the staff will bus your beer to help keep authorities happy.My favorite current taps include their Oktoberfest. It's light and refreshing and gently spiced. I also loved Left Fork, a Kentucky Common. It's is a brown beer, halfway between a brown ale and a schwarzbier if that helps.Locals over and over keep walking in and yelling for "the closest thing you have to Miller Lite". Love that you're participating but c'mon. It's like taking your kids to a restaurant and they order McDonald's. They have a few taps in the range of an American Lager or a Blonde Ale, depending on your tastes. They have a big menu that describes all the taps. Or ask for a sample flight! The staff will be happy to work with you. And they have so many other choices! Find a new favorite. Plus right now the Oktoberfest is very good, and pairs amazingly with the food.

New addition to the local scene out this way, and by far my new favorite! Excellent beers and rotating selection, cool chill vibe, and not one of the innumerable places catering to the "bro I'm wasted from being out on the lake let's do SHOTS" crowd. No kitchen here yet, not sure if that's a thing they're gonna do. Give them your money.

First time visiting this place. Nice roomy and bright bar. Tried the Lung Lite brewed right there. Best light brew I have ever tasted. I usually drink Coors Light. I'll travel to get Black Lung brand. Looking forward to their summer live entertainment.

Outstanding staff!! Lovely location. Good music and vibe. Solid alcohol offerings. Hung out, had a drink and sampled a couple options.Bartender is a poster child for excellent customer service. Sadly we did not get her name. Additionally she's excited about the brewery, its offerings and many its possibilities.

My Fiancé and I were there right before the kitchen closed, we asked to get some food and we were greeted so nicely especially with us coming so late.I had The Willis Burger. And they knocked it out of the park. Had a lot of fun and caught a little Toad on the outside deck. Great experience and the beer was fantastic

we ended up at the brewery on Nippersink and although we had an aweful evening prior, the staff and customers were so awesome and really lifted our spirits. the feel of a small town pub in a big city enviroment, and the sense of community was wonderful! thanks black lung brewery!! Just left there and I'm headed to Wendy's to get dinner. I'm so disappointed. The jerk chicken lacked flavor, the bread was so soggy it felt like an Italian beef dipped.The side salad had no dressing and when I asked her for some she said "It's already on it" This teeny tiny salad was dry as a bone. I had to re-ask for the ranch she offered as an option.When she brought it to us it was NOT ranch. I paid for a meal that I took 2 bites from the sandwich and none out of the salad. Oh and forget taking your coat off, that wasn't an option. I'm in a sweater and it was still cold. I'm now hungery and colder then when I went in there. So disappointed. Also not 1 single option for beer but the craft beer. At least 1 option would be nice.

Wonderful, quirky place to enjoy craft beers while dining on specialty burgers and appetizers. Beer tenders are friendly and knowledgeable!

Went here on 3/16/24 great live music! The low rating is for what I think was the head bartender. She is as mean as they get!
