Delicious, clean large variety of good. Reasonably priced. Enjoyed everything from pasta, chicken, fish. Gravy a little lumpy but worth it.

Do NOT visit the bar on a week night, it is terrible. Bad service, egregious prices. The bartender, Mary, bless her heart, has been a bartender for 45 years, however she is still chitchatting with her first customer from 1979...unbelievably inattentive with no sense of actually serving whatsoever. I would guess she is a friend or relative of the owner because she didn't care one bit about tending to someone she didn't know who sat down to simply get a drink. It was not busy, only 4 other people in the bar. No excuse to not be able to turn and say, "be right with you" and then actually stop over within a couple minutes. I overheard her whole life story for a solid 10 mins before she took the time and effort to see why we bothered to come disturb her social life. It was unreal. I should have left knowing it wouldn't get any better. But no, I patiently waited. Huge mistake. Trying to close the bill was a joke. Then the bill: $12 for a 4oz pour of wine from a bottle that retails for $9.99. $7.50 for a draft of beer. Prices are going up right? But you claim to be a Northwoods eatery, why do you pretend to be a pretentious downtown bar? There is absolutely nothing to justify the up charge. I'll never go back to this place. Also, the 4'X3' "advertisement poster" about daily drink specials prominently hung next to the bar, those are for a different bar and are for decoration only, there are no daily drink specials...and I'm the idiot for thinking otherwise.

We met here for Sunday brunch during the holidays ... wow! what fabulous xmas decorations! Loved it. We were met by a lovely hostess who gave us a wonderful table near the bar, who ended up also being our server. Granted there wasn't much serving involved as we signed up for the buffet, but she was delightful and poured us very lovely mimosas with some crushed fruit in it, making it not only yummy, but very festive, looking like red confetti in the glass. The buffet food was plentiful and constantly being replenished to keep things fresh. Apparently they're famous for their fried chicken, but frankly I preferred all the fresh salads offered ... pasta salad, crab salad, caesar salad, and on and on! Delicious. Add the convenience of plentiful parking and being right off the expressway, I know we'll be coming back again very soon!

I was here for a reception recently. It looks like a cross between an old lodge restaurant and a Cracker Barrel. There is plenty of parking all around the place and turning in off the main road was a harrowing adventure as Wisconsinites think that every road is like the Autobahn. When you walked in, there was a nice front host stand and a claw machine opposite as you walked out. It reminded me of homey type restaurants when I was a child and got to pick a crappy "treasure-toy" from the treasure chest as I left the restaurants with my parents. It was a treasured gift that I enjoyed from the main entrance to the restaurant until I got in the backseat of the car with my siblings to find that they found treasure too and their crappy toy was somehow better than my crappy toy. Anyway, our reception room was immediately to the left of the host stand and felt private despite windows looking out upon people walking to and from the restaurant to the windows on the other wall looking into the host stand/waiting area. And where there wasn't windows for people to look into our fishbowl of fun, there was wood paneling. Despite the 80s feel of the place, the room seemed quite sound proof and we could have our fun without hearing the rest of the chatter from the restaurant. The meal at this occasion was their Friday Fish Fry and buffet. Now, most (and when I say most, I mean, every other buffet place except this one) buffet places have parallel lines for tables and patrons can line up on either side of the buffet and help themselves to food. Not Birchwood Grill. They said, hold my beer and made it circular. And while you may think that this is the end of the conversation, Birchwood Grill again said, "Hold my beer" and put two openings directly opposite each other in the circle so patrons can just jump in front. of one another without a care in the world. And that's exactly what happened...numerous times. And then I got to watch the frenzy as the restaurant tried to refill some of the food bins with fresh food. People didn't take to kindly to having to wait another four whole seconds to pile mounds of fried fish on their plates. They just inched closer to the people in front of them so the workers couldn't "budge" in front of them. While it was fun having the unintentional comedic entertainment; I, too, got in line for food. The cream of chicken soup was quite tasty and not too salty. The salad bar was fresh and had a ton of options that put Zupas to shame (wait, not a Zupas, they suck and don't have a lot of options). It would put a buffet style restaurant like Golden Corral or your local grocery store's salad bar, to shame. Besides all the fried fish, they also had fried chicken, which was flaky and not heavily fried, which was totally unexpected. And there were more items than I simply couldn't get to. There simply was just too much food (alas, the sad truth of a buffet: so much food, so little stomach space). The food and service was really good. Not a complaint to be had...though I do know that they messed up a little on the desserts and forgot coffee service altogether, but these things happen. I just wish patrons would decide if plaid shirts are good with shorts and Teva sandals or not (I would say not, but it was Wisconsin).

A very nice restaurant with a variety of options. We had the breakfast buffet, but there is also lunch buffet. The buffet is only on Saturday and Sunday...but the food was delicious and in abundance! The staff was very friendly, and you could tell they really enjoyed working at this establishment. prices were very reasonable. There were two nice sized areas for private parties, one had a baby shower going on, and the other was a birthday party. Also, there was a station for a "build your own Bloody Mary." Great experience...definitely recommend this place.

Great variety at the buffet brunch with attentive service. No need for music as the atmosphere was lively. Parking was adequate. Decorations added to the ambiance. Clean bathrooms. Enjoyed the Bloody Mary and mimosa bars. Would return, perhaps avoiding holiday weekends."

The food was nothing special. Lack of flavor and originality. The broasted chicken was decent after the gallon of grease was drained off. The service was subpar at best. We had to ask for NAPKINS! The worst was when I went to the restroom to wash the grease from my hands, one of the cooks came out of a stall, tucked his shirt in his pants and didnt wash his hands. GROSS! Never will I go near this place and neither should you.
