Good flavor, rib tip dinner was small for the price, brisket potato hardly had meat on it. Friendly staff but ill informed. I asked if the restaurant was Black Owned and the cashier said yes. This was a young Black Man that was clueless or didn't pay attention to what was being asked.

This a review of the to-go meals I've had and the pick up experience. I went on a Sunday afternoon and had no trouble parking as they have a small lot. There is also plenty of street parking. There's plenty of indoor dining but also a cute outdoor dining space. I could smell the smoke from the grill, which is right out front, and it smelled good (great sign).I ordered the spare rib dinner with fries and coleslaw. I always get my sauce on the side so you'll note they're not sauced in my pics. I also ordered the southern fried catfish meal with black eyed peas and mac & cheese. The ribs were very, very good. The flavor on them was great without sauce (which is key to real bbq to me). Don't get me wrong, the sauce on the side was very good too. The catfish was really good too. I pinched a piece before I took the pic because it was so crispy looking it called my name - oops. It was lightly cornmeal coated and fried nicely without being overcooked. The black eyed peas were some of the best I've had in a long time. It was so easy to go in and place a take out order and didn't take long for the food to be ready. The people who took my order and gave me my food were extremely nice (perhaps the owners?). I'd definitely go back and try some other menu items too! I have my eye on the burger...

Big Daddy's food at 92nd and Capitol Dr was surprisingly good. I got the shoulder dinner and it was awesome, later in the day they will run out of the sides, so plan accordingly.

I've only ordered carry-out once, but was pleased enough with my experience that I plan to go back. They have moved to 2730 N. Humboldt Blvd, and I submitted the update to Yelp for address, phone, and hours. The web address is still correct, but the hours on the website are not, so I pulled that from their Facebook page. They started offering brunch on Saturdays recently, so the brunch hours are included on the Facebook page and not the website, so I know Facebook page hours are correct.Anyway, I ordered fried chicken with mac-n-cheese, cornbread, and fries. The chicken and cornbread were excellent. Great texture on the cornbread, and the chicken was crisp and nicely seasoned. The chicken was available in thighs, legs, and wings only, which I'm fine with because I find chicken breat is too easy to dry out, so white meat fans will not find what you want for chicken here, but I prefer dark meat for chicken (and turkey) because it tastes better to me (and everyone else I know), so I was happy with the options. The seasoned fries were fine but didn't travel well, and the mac-n-cheese was fine, but I prefer more salt or a seasoning blend. Maybe they can offer an option with a seasoning blend. It could even be the blend they use in the chicken batter.I will definitely be back to try some of the BBQ dishes and I'd gladly order the chicken and cornbread again!

Cool little spot in an unlikely location, with plenty of space and outdoor seating. I also saw a big grill out front, but it didn't look like it was being used. I'm not sure if that's just for deco... It would've been cool to walk in past a grill smoking and putting out deliciousness (like Hawthorne Coffee Roasters had back in the day when they had the BBQ). The place already had a few customers when I went at 4pm on a weekday. There was a couple dining in, another lady in line ordering, and more coming in as waited for the food. I ordered half slab of spareribs, a dinner with rib tips, and gumbo (which comes with a piece of cornbread, I was told 3 times, with pride). They gave me a pager, and I waited outside with another customer, who was very nice and talkative. She told me she'd been here a few times, but that she liked another place down in Brookfield. Cool. I bookmarked it on Yelp to try next time lol. The half slab - I won't review this one here. Check the yelp elite experience for it. Sausage, Chicken and Shrimp Gumbo - $11 - it was nicely topped with 5 shrimp pieces, on a bed of rice and sausage and chicken. The broth was not thick, as I would expect from gumbo, but savory. Overall, it felt like too much rice, and even then, not really rice that was cooked together, but like it was separately cooked and put together later. It wasn't bad and I actually enjoyed it, but it didn't feel like gumbo. Maybe like chicken soup with added rice and sausage? And the cornbread went better with the ribs. Rib Tips - the dinner came with the tips, waffle fries, and beans. - The fries didn't travel well and was soggy by the time I got home, but interestingly, still good! It actually had good flavors and I didn't mind it being soggy at all! I would normally pop it in the air fryer for a few minutes for take out fries, and this may have been better with that, but it was still good without it. - The beans were a little sweet and went well with the meal. - The rib tips were a solid ok. I wonder if I would have liked it dry. I usually like to order the ribs dry with the sauce on the side, but just went for the whole experience this time. You can tell when the ribs are done right better if they're dry. The sauce was actually pretty spot on, though I would have preferred a little more kick over the sweet, so not quite finger licking good. The meat was tender but not quite falling off the bone, which is fine since I like me my meat textures. Overall, it's a solid 3-stars for me. I'd go back if I'm craving some ribs and don't feel like traveling for my favorite joint. But I'll definitely pass the gumbo (and cornbread). And I'll be ordering the tips dry with sauce on the side. If they'll honor it, maybe I'll ask for a double portion of fries over the beans. And I'll have some rice cooking at home if taking out, cuz the leftover ribs were really good with some white rice.

Staff had a very nasty attitude. Waited over an hour for a mediocre meal. Had rib tips, ribs, fish, coleslaw and soggy fries. When I got home I was missing my baked beans. I will not return.

We ordered fried catfish and ribs. The ribs had excellent flavor, but they were cold and tough. Being from the south its hard to find good catfish. But this was right up there with what my mother in law makes. Sauce was amazing want to try again

Had a wonderful time eating on the outdoor patio and getting to try Big Daddy's delicious BBQ. The spare ribs were fall off the bone amazing. The BBQ sauce was on point. We also tried the jerk beef tips and fried catfish. They were both quite tasty as well. My boyfriend loved the jerk. That was his favorite. For sides we enjoyed the coleslaw, baked beans and greens. The baked beans were so delicious we went back to order more. We will definitely be back again to enjoy the beautiful outdoor patio and fantastic food!!!

They specialize in fake soul food breakfast. The salmon croquettes were horrendous. The pancakes were microwavable. The eggs were liquid and unseasoned. This was the worst breakfast ever. I should have known it was fake soul food when I saw Jose and his cousins cooking in the back.
