Biersal Tavern

Biersal took over the ok so sketchy Wonder Bar and they've done a lot of remodeling. The inside is simple but clean, with lots of record cover decor. They have cocktails, a few options for wine and a strong beer list. No food, but we saw folks bringing stuff in so seems like that's ok. The bartender was super nice. So, what's the problem? It absolutely reeked of cigarettes inside. We didn't see smoking while we were there but could absolutely smell it. We may or may not go back.

This is a fantastic place. Full disclosure that we are friends with the owner, but I can objectively say that the former Wonderbar is great. The remodeled new look is beautiful -- it's open and brighter in there and really comfortable.There is always a very carefully-curated selection of beers. There are always really good choices across the spectrum. They also have a solid offering of craft cocktails too.You can't get food there, but you're welcome to bring it in from elsewhere. There's a great pizza place across the street called Wy'east for example.And really, what I love about the place is the vibe. It's an accepting place for all kinds of people and promotes diversity. That's really important to me, and we seek out places like that. There's a big rainbow flag in the window, not to mention some beautiful artwork from local artists all around the bar.

Date of visit: October 26, 2024We hosted a surprise birthday party for a friend here and had a wonderful time! It's very much "hole in the wall" in terms of size, but it makes up for its small footprint with an incredibly fun and cozy atmosphere and great service from the bartender/owner, Eric.There's no food here, so be prepared for that, this is a true watering hole and those who choose to imbibe would not leave unsatisfied. The party was just before Halloween so the place was decorated quite festively--would love to see what they do for Christmas!

Great welcoming place for people. Great cocktails and nice bartenders. Def worth checking out.
