Holy Cow.I always hoped Milwaukee had a place like this: a legit Indian grocery with all the fixings. 40-pound rice bags? Check. Aisles of spices and sauces? Check. Ad for frozen goat meat by the cash register? Check. And we're only scratching the surface of their offerings!I myself stop in every time I'm with my vegetarian pals at Bombay Sweets next door and load up on giant boxes of British black tea at cut-rate prices. I suggest you at least do the same, and keep your eyes peeled too. It's the kind of place that rewards an adventurous cook.

From the outside, it's just another convenience store.Step inside, however, and be transported. Best Food Store IS a convenience store, but it's also the neighborhood go-to for everything and anything one might need to prepare a delicious Indian meal. They rock a crazy awesome and relatively obscure produce section. They've also got a killer selection of spices (Indian and otherwise) in bulk on the super-cheap. I got a container of 30 dates for $1.99 from the Best Food Store. Yesterday, I stuffed said dates with chévre and wrapped them in bacon for a Super Bowl party.Other items available for purchase include blackberry-flavored Old English malt liquor, cast iron pots/pans, various essential oils, prepared/frozen Indian foods, and lots, lots more.If you're into cooking, Indian food, or exploring your city's super-hidden gems, stop by this spot one time. They've got lots of rad stuff on the super-cheap. Boom.

A very nice neighborhood South Asian grocery store with some of the stuff one finds in convenience stores as well as some Middle Eastern goods. Helpful friendly workers, because of the spices it smells nice in here too. The parking can be a little tight. I'm not sure if it's really the best food store, but it is certainly very good.

Call me a little slow but I just discovered this place a year ago and couldn't be happier! I have been to many of the Indian grocery stores in the city. Best Food has some of the best pricing and really great customer service. They have a great selection of spices and "cheater" sauces and frozen foods. Parking can be a problem because the store and the Indian restaurant next door are always busy. However, you can usually find parking on the street. I am so pleased to have a great Indian grocery store close to me in Bay View!

Wow! This was spice heaven! I needed spices for chicken Korma and an Indian Brussels dish I was making. The staff was very friendly and helped me on my scavenger hunt. They have every spice imaginable at very reasonable prices. I also picked up some dal. There were some interesting veggies I have never seen before and a selection of cooking items also. This location is very busy and you may need to park on the street. Worth the visit.

Perfect for Indian groceries. For a small place they do pack a lot of items which obviously makes it hard to navigate through their really tight aisles. It has limited parking in from and depending when you're there, it might be hard to find a spot. It shares parking with an Indian restaurant which also adds to the difficultly in finding parking right in front. But with that said, there shouldn't be a problem to find street parking in this area. They have a great selection of frozen items (a lot more than some of the other Milwaukee Indian grocery stores) which definitely makes this place stand out. Prices are also comparable and their store hours definitely make this place one of my top stores for my Indian grocery supplies.

Last week Friday I went and bought Indian snack "Roasted Poha Chevda" from this Best-Food-Store. When I came home, I found that the expiry date stamped on the pack was August 1, 2019. Basically, it is wrong to keep outdated food items in the store. Still, it is a crime, I think, to keep in the store for sale, a food product even 7 months after its expiry date. Next time, when anyone dares to buy things from this store, check first the expiry date.
