Local butcher that has lots of varieties of sausages. Brats, italians, breakfast, you name it, they probably have some variety of it. My hubs has also snagged some more...interesting cuts as well, blood sausage being one of them.I love their maple breakfast sausage - it has real maple flavor and not the fake-y maple flavor from grocery store brand stuff. Brats are also super good, I especially like the jalapeno cheddar - they are actually a bit spicy! If you arent into that they have a bunch of other flavors.Be sure to check out the frozen section for a bigger selection if you dont see what you want in the case.

The lady working there is absolutely delightful. However, I cannot say the same of the two men working there. They are so grumpy it's a shame, because the selection of meats is absolutely out of this world. I felt like a bother the moment I walked in I didn't feel welcome at all. Only the older lady was helpful and smiled. The two men working there seemed absolutely miserable

Awesome selection of niche products. Smell hits you the second you walk in the door. If you're just popping in, try the jerky.

If you are in Port Washington do not miss going to Bernie's. It's the best butcher shop that I've ever been to. Everything is amazing, prices fair and people are outstanding. They offer to season the meat if you want, they will cut you anything you need, their fresh turkeys for Thanksgiving are amazing, beef jerky out of this world. I could keep going. Just get in there and you will see! My dog loves their smoked bones!

I have to give Joanna T. the credit for making me aware of this place, I saw her check in and I'm like what is that and where is that old school downtown looking meat shop. My must try list is so big that places close before I can get to them so it took me a while to get over here but I made it.First off when you enter a meat shop that makes their own sausage/meats and you smell smoke you know your in the real deal and the beautiful smell of smoke greeted me as I walked in, yes. Trying all the meat shops around and where I go is something I try to do as a carnivore.Since I know nothing about the place I do my usual, what are people buying and what are you selling the most of is my question to the person helping me. The bacon was 750 pounds last week and the summer sausage was about 500 pounds I was told so I'm in on that. I ask what about the Polish sausage vs the brats, what would you recommend me leaving with and the Polish was leaving with me. The hot meat sticks is a given when ever I see them. The summer sausage was tasty with a nice smoke flavor and on the lean side, not the $3.99 garbage log that the supermarket sells. The thick cut bacon looked and smelled so good that I knew I would have to make my favorite bacon dish, the bacon and feta cheese omelette. The bacon was smokey and thick which made for a great tasty breakfast omelette. For a meat shop there is a lot of liquor with booze, beer and wine along with condiments and sauces. The coolers have cheeses, meats, smoked chickens, seafood, lunch meat, jerky, Shultz, meat balls, prepared entrees, eggs, butter etc, just a well rounded store. This is truly a destination old school meat shop and well worth the drive, I'm so glad that I finally stopped by.

I never fail to swing into Bernie's when my work travel brings me past Port Washington, unless its on a Monday when they are closed. And yes, I've made that mistake, twice. But this Mom and Pop style butcher spot does not disappoint. I always grab one or two packs of their Old Fashion Style bacon, a pack or two of the smoked pork chops, and usually a couple kinds of the freshly made brat/Hungarians etc. The only thing I'm not a fan of is their beef sticks, but that probably just me.

Bought two links of fresh Polish sausage and it was great. I should have bought more but it was a first visit. The store had a wide variety of European food and I wouldn't hesitate to try anything next visit.*****
