We had a lovely conversation with Patrick about Limp Bizkit, death metal, among other topics. We ordered the carpaccio, octopus, banh mi, along with bread and truffle butter. The octopus was delicious, however we personally would have preferred the octopus have fewer ingredients.Truffle butter had layered flavors, outstanding. The pork belly in the banh mi was so tender and yummy, highly recommended! The art near the bathrooms was cool. Walking through he ingredient store is fun, *buy* the squid and fish tins!

I've been to Bavette probably a dozen times for lunch in both their old and new location, and it has ALWAYS been an excellent atmosphere, with incredibly friendly service, and delicious food!! The current location is open and airy, with a lovely shop at the front with fun cooking items, meats and cheeses and unique gift finds you won't find elsewhere. Food highlights to consider for your visit:Pimento Cheese Dip: it has some texture to it, which it a great surprise compared to most which are blitzed into oblivion.Lions Mane Schnitzel: probably my favorite dish on the menu. Flavor combos are like nothing I've ever tried before, and it can certainly be a lunch when paired with a cup of the daily soup!Cuban Pressed Sandwich: this is my go to Sammy here, always loaded with pork and the pickles are homemade! I get the side salad because the sandwich is rich, but my gosh, even their side salad is craveable!!Pork Belly Bahn Mi: I get this sandwich whenever I'm not at a business lunch because it's large and sometimes difficult to eat, by my gosh, it's WORTH it. The spicy sauce isn't to hot, and the pork belly is melt in your mouth. Potato Chip Chocolate Chip Cookie: didn't skip this!! Have then warm it up for you and eat it there or get it to go, you won't regret it. Highly recommend, and honestly need to visit for dinner sometime!

This was genuinely a treat of a meal and experience. When you walk in, you are welcome by a storefront selling wines, spices. and kitchen supplies. The environment of the place is bustling with the open kitchen concept operating right next to the seating area. We started with the beef tartare which was presented beautifully. The bread was warm and toasty complementing the beef which was fresh, firmly textured and mixed with the capers. The Lion's Mane Mushroom Schnitzel was also a highlight, nicely fried, topped with the tomato jam, ricotta, and brown butter balsamic. The combo of it all was special. We ordered the Seared Scallops and Duck Breast for our 2 entrees. Scallops were well seared and uniform in shape with the gnocchi, but the dish overall was a bit too rich and one dimensional with the cream sauce. The duck on the other hand might be the best thing I've ever had. The juicy duck laying on top of the soubise was intensely flavorful. *Do not skip out on this dish.*

Excellent spread of foods at a quality french american fusion restaurant in milwaukee! I was unable to label all the food items tried but will try my best to explain each one. Our first course was a sourdough bread with black truffle honey butter. The butter was whipped & well balanced in savory sweet flavors. The second course was the tin fish, pickled vegetable, pink egg, & cracker spread. The tin fish had 3 layers of fish swimming in olive oil. The tomato jam & sweet jam pair well with whatever bite you tried to build from the charcuterie. The pickled vegetables didn't add much to the board & neither did the one pink egg but overall fun spread. The next course was hamachi - fresh tuna with asian pear, a jam?, & pickled jalapenos. It was fresh with a slight tart in each bite. Then the main course felt like dessert with the beef fat fries & garlic aioli with a chocolate chip potato chip cookie, & an apple pie with ice cream. This part of the course was definitely a girl dinner & yap portion. All of this for 4 people at ~$150 was pretty reasonable with how the ingredients were sourced & the fanciness of the restaurant. The added bonus to the store layout is they have a convenience store of all some of their signature tastes. Great date spot in the heart of third ward!

We dined at Bavette recently and really enjoyed it. We wanted something light for lunch. We settled on the chef's choice three cheese charcuterie and the pozole. Loved all three cheeses we tried along with the meats, candied pecans, assortment of house-made crackers and accompanying spreads and jams. Our server, Mimi was really sweet too. Great place!

I already want to go back here to try more of their dishes! The restarting has a small shop at the front where you can buy different wines or food items. We ordered a handful of items, all of which were really good. The pimento cheese dip had some fun flavors although the consistency was different than what I was expecting. They have a range of vegetables/salads on their menu, all of which incorporate unique ingredients and combinations. We tried the chickpea salad which was so refreshing and delicious. We also tried the fried chicken sandwich, which comes with the option of beef fried French fries - I have truly not had fries this good with a subtle umami notes. So delicious and can't wait to go back!

Came here with my best friend after flying into Milwaukee for a high school reunion. We sat outside and seriously had the best time. We ordered some delicious mocktails to start. We shared the pimento cheese, the beet salad, and sausage, and dessert. I can't remember what each menu item was called but I have pics. Our server was top-notch. Very attentive and knowledgeable! Definitely will come here when I return to Milwaukee!

Just incredible. We stopped in for a weekday lunch and Bavette definitely did not disappoint. The lovely street side patio was a wonderful place to sit outside, enjoy the weather, and people watch. Service was incredibly attentive and friendly. But the food; oh, the food. The beef carpaccio was absolutely divine. I also really enjoyed the deviled eggs and octopus. We got some trout dip with bread that was not my favorite, but everything else we ordered was spot-on. Can't wait to return.

If it were possible, I would give Bavette 4.5 stars as I enjoyed my meal more than my spouse. Lunch was the last time we ate at Bavette, and our meal was disappointingly mediocre. Our sandwiches and soup were unmemorable, and our server was snippy. We did not have fun. This time, on a blindingly cold night on a Saturday in January, the joint was jumping, and Bavette had a buzz. Our friend procured an awkward four-top close to the front, but that was probably because we were twenty minutes late due to our Uber driver getting lost and the two prior Uber cancellations. Milwaukee's ride-share programs need work. The most surprising dish of the night was the chicken liver mousse. Looking and tasting more like dessert, I have never tasted a more delicious liver mousse. Duck confit was pleasant, but without the crispness of the skin that is my preference. My fries were done well, extra crispy and no salt. However, my partner's scallops were too sweet and any scallop flavor disappeared beneath the sauce. Cocktails were weak and not given much thought, decidedly unMilwaukee. A highlight of the night was our pleasant and vivacious server, who handled the four of us with a smile and intelligence.Bavette is interesting. I spend most of my time in Bay View, and the Third Ward seems like a different city. Milwaukee is definitely neighborhood-driven. The crowd at Bavette was more conservative, buttoned down, lacking the funk and eclecticism of Bay View. I felt out of place. That's weird, but there are distinct differences between the Third Ward, its twin Walker's Point and Bay View. I'll take my hood hands down.

"La Boucherie" means "butcher" in French, so be ready for a meat-centric meal! This small restaurant was nice enough for a special occasion but casual enough that we didn't dress up too much. We worked through several courses: first breads, trying both the grilled cornbread with honey truffle butter and the focaccia with olive oil. I wouldn't have thought honey and truffles would go well together but it made for a well rounded flavor with the hearty base of the cornbread. By comparison, the focaccia, no slouch though it was, seemed more one dimensional. The olive oil served was young and peppery, but again, not as fully realized as the flavors of the cornbread. We then tried the beef fat fries; if you're old enough to remember when McDonald's and the like cooked their fries this way, prepare to have flashbacks. One order was more than enough for two and came with a pickle-heavy aioli. We capped the meal off with a charcuterie board; yes, they're trendy, but this is actually the kind of place you want to get one. It was a chef's choice of meats and cheeses (they helpfully provided a slip of paper telling us what they were) including salame Rosa, country pate, coppa, Quicke's goat truckle cheese, Hook's Paradise blue and Red Barn Farms Heritage Weisse, along with cornichons, caper berries, candied pecans, jams, and mustards. The only thing we didn't mutually care for was the pate, but we enjoyed all the other choices. Our waitress was very friendly and kept a good eye on us throughout the meal. There was also a small shop at the front where you could buy items to take home.Overall, a nice spot for a special dinner out in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward.
