This is an off-season review. Probably limited by COVID19, right now they are only selling corn. But these giant ears of corn are ABSOLUTELY delicious, fresh from the farm, and so cheap. My only problem is that these ears of corn are bigger than any pot I have in my kitchen.

I took mom and lil' sis to this spot Halloween weekend. There were slim pickings for pumpkins, which I knew before I arrived because I called to ask and the gentleman that answered gave me an honest answer. Regardless, I chose to continue our trip there, and I was happy I did. The farm features a corn maze that takes more than 20 seconds to get through, a small petting zoo where kids can feed goats and see a few other animals, and a hayride which takes you around the farm. There was a small fee for the hayride, but the corn maze was free, as was the petting zoo. You just had to donate $.50, I think (might have been less), for the pellets to feed the goats. The store sells seasonal fruits, veggies, bakery, and "gift shop" type items. I will come back again, but I'll try to leave an earlier weekend in October open in my calendar, for a better pumpkin selection. Although, we did find a small pumpkin in great condition that sufficed for this year.

While making my way through the Brookfield Farmers market I found this table with Apple cider, donuts and Carmel apples which stopped me in my tracks. The Apple cider donuts intrigued me because I have never seen such a thing before. They were very fresh with a soft pillowy texture dusted in sugar but they didn't wow me in any way and really didn't taste much different from a regular donut. I guess I was expecting something spectacular and new/different but it was just a donut after all, the Carmel Apple would have been a better choice as a satisfying treat.

This location is very nice, don't get me wrong. The one in Colgate, however, is in a league of its own. If you're looking to choose between the two, I don't think there's any comparison. The one in Colgate is absolutely amazing. This one is fun.

Love their ham and rolls on Sunday and their apple cider donuts. Only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that they have a horrible system for ham and there are times it will take 30-45 minutes to get your ham! There has to be a better way. But I have a feeling the reason they are so busy because the word is out that their ham is so good! Be sure to call ahead because they are only open for a few weeks in spring and fall, and they only do the ham and rolls on Sundays.

After challenged with the decision of which Pumpkin Farm to take the kids, I settled on giving Basse's a try based on the suggestion of a friend. While I have attended several others in past years, including Swan's as a former favorite, Basse's takes the cake....or should I say the pumpkin. This was by far the best pumpkin farm my family and I have attended. It was easy to find and the entrance fee per person was very reasonable when you consider all it includes. There were so many fun activities for kids that we didn't know where to begin. We ended up spending about 3 hours there and probably would have stayed longer if the weather wasn't getting so chilly. The freshly made kettle corn was delicious and the hayride to the pumpkin patch was fun. We also loved the train ride and tractor ride through the corn field and the corn filled silo for the kids to play in was a blast. I couldn't get my kids to want to come out of there as they were having so much fun! The various slides where you slid down on burlap sacks were also fun. There were just too many fun activities to try and name. The only bummer was the apple cider donuts. While the donuts were warm and yummy, there was absolutely no cider flavor. A little disappointing and slightly overpriced. Everything else though about Basse's was amazing and we will definitely be back again. Definitely the best pumpkin farm we've been to over the past 7 years.

We love Basses. My husband and I have been going here for years and the staff feel like family. We wait for their hot ham on Sundays all year long! They have sweet corn and pumpkins and all kinds of other goodies!
