Stopped by this bar in our neighborhood for fish fry takeout after walking past so many times and saying we need to try it because the sign is so funny. The fish fry was pretty good. I've had better but I've had worse. Absolutely loved the potato pancakes and fries. I got the feeling that everyone there knows each other. It reminds me of dive bars in small town Wisconsin, so it's kind of fun to get that same feeling in the city. I'd like to stop in sometime and sit at the bar rather than do takeout - I think that would give us the full experience.

So I was out for a bike ride and rode past and noticed a fish fry sign on the sidewalk..... on my way back through I decided to give it a go since well it's Friday and we are in Milwaukee, what else do we eat? Walked into the past it is definitely a dive bar setting which adds to the charm AND the reason I gave it 4 stars since 5 stars would be an insult to a dive bar. Well I gotta say the fish fry was 5 star all the way. 3 large pieces of deeper fried cod with a lighter batter came out steaming hot. Came with either fries or potato pancakes and I went with the potato pancakes which were amazing. Even the bread was delicious. Talking with the owner he said he is back doing fish fries every Friday so spread the word and fill up this joint. Friendly staff and customers.... If you are looking for fancy don't stop, but if you are looking for an awesome fish fry I will see you there!

Not a bad fish fry in an amusingly unabashed unashamed dive bar. The potato pancakes are better than average though they look at me funny when I ask for sour cream. I may never completely understand Milwaukee. It may look a little scary but nothing bad has ever happened to me here. It's a shot and a beer sort of place with an honest kind of neighborhood charm mere steps from some of the most pretentious bourgeois eateries and bars in Wisconsin.

Baby Boomers has one of those unassuming, excellent dive bar fish fries. You hear about it through word of mouth, and there aren't many Yelp reviews. Most patrons appear to be regulars. Many are old white men w/long hair. But no one gives you that "non-regular" cold shoulder like some corner bars.We came at 6 on a Friday. The bar wasn't too busy. There were a few tables in the back, and a few empty spots at the bar. It's a small place. By the time we left at 7, it had filled a little more.I grabbed a table in the back, but after ordering food at the bar, I decided to move to the bar. The bartender gave us little crafted wooden boards that fit the bar, to give us a little table top. It didn't take long for our food. The three generous pieces of cod had a perfect thin crispy coating. Potato pancakes had the classic density, nice crispy outside, soft oniony inside. Coleslaw and rye, your usual. The fries are good but potato pancakes are worth the $1 upgrade. Make sure you bring cash! No credit cards taken, but they do have a $3 fee ATM.All in all, this is one of those great spots to hit after a long day of work, when you want to avoid a big crowd, and you just want a satisfying classic fish fry. Plus a $3.50 1/2 pitcher of PBR and an Andi's Candy at the end, I am a happy camper.

One of the best, if not the best fish fry and potato pancakes I've ever had! Soooo delicious and perfectly cooked, large pieces of fish and larger than normal/more flavorful cakes. Can't beat the price either. You don't go here for the atmosphere, (although, the tenders and regulars are personable) or taps (need to be cleaned) but if you know whats up, you do go for the grub so check it out if you haven't already.

Besides Fish Frys, I love dive bars. Baby Boomers is both - a decent little find in Bayview. It has street parking, friendly bartender, free wifi & 2 pool tables. Seating is pretty much the bar and a few tables in the back area. Kitchen hours are from 11:30 to midnight and has your regular bar food - burgers, pork chop sandwiches, steak sandwiches, ham/cheese, wings, mushrooms, mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders & fries. For lent and everyday they have beer battered cod, 12 piece bucket of fish, shrimp dinner, & fish sandwiches. So far the only drawback is the fish fry takes 30 minutes and place isn't packed. So the wait is on....Was it worth the wait? When I walked in the patrons who had the fish fry ate off plates and given a fork. When I received my fish fry, I got a Styrofoam container with no fork or napkins. I thought the bartender would bring it afterwards but I had to ask. So after I got my PBR the service wasn't as good. 3 pieces of cod, fries, slaw & rye bread. The fish had a decent batter on it. It wasn't too thick or clumps of batter. The fish itself was good. Fries were cooked well and the slaw was creamy and tasty. I passed on the rye bread like I usually do. 2 PBRs ($2.75 each) and fish fry ($8.50)...I would say the fish fry was decent to good and the service was just okay.

Easily the most terrible bar I've ever been in. Bartender is wasted and rude to anyone that is not A regular. She threatened 4 people violence and said she will have the outlaws kill them. The beer is bad. It taste like puke. The patrons are okay but be careful they will eyeball you as soon as. You walk in there. This bar isn't a business it's a hang out. They do not make money because they do not welcome anyone. If you have a complaint the bartender says you don't know my family. You csb gdt the fuck out. No matter what you do. I wad there for. A couple of hours abs decided to tip her crazy amounts of money just to see if this business was about money or the few they have come in. And it's deffinately not about being a good business. If you're looking for a fight this is the place for you.

Not impressed! Actuslly very disappointed! I arrived at the "appointed time"for pick-up ~ had to wait 5 minutes in the small bar ~ no problem... Thought ~ great the food will be nice and fresh & hot! (BTW ~ cash only...) Packages came out ~ couldn't feel any heat through the styrofoam ~ got home (3 minutes from the resturaunt /bar) ~ the food is cold ... nothing special about the flavor, which being cold doesn't help. Mmmm cold fish fry and fries... NOPE! Totally sucked...

I spent too long looking for a decent fish fry in town. I thought it'd be easy to find one, but I really had to dig. Eventually, one of my fiancée's coworkers turned us on to this place. I found my fish fry.One part dive bar, one part biker hangout, Baby Boomers appeals to an older crowd. It's right there in the name. That said, the bartenders and regulars have been nothing but friendly to me. I actually helped one guy improve his pool game while waiting for my order, which was pretty neat. Coming from a small town, Milwaukee has always seemed a bit isolating to me; Baby Boomer's is like an oasis of friendliness. One time, the cook had forgotten to put our order in after we called. They treated us to a free round while we waited. It's little things like that that really endear me to a place like this.As far as the food goes, it's great. When we first started coming it was a bit inconsistent, but lately it's always been spot on. The only bad thing is that if you're taking out the fish really heats up the coleslaw and tartar sauce--but that's not the bar's fault at all. It's all dirt cheap, too. I don't remember the prices off the top of my head, but I've never walked out feeling like I got pumped for cash.5/5 stars for the best fish I've had so far in Milwaukee.
