Allgauer's Bistro In The Park

I stopped at Allgauer's to get some menu pictures and decide if I was eating a fish fry alone or if my family was going to come and meet me based on their non-fish options. Apparently I haven't been to Allgauer's in forever because it's February 2024 and they stopped doing the all you can eat fish fry around April 2023. What a shame cause it was pretty good and there are so few all you can eat places left. The hostess joked with me that the restaurant was empty when I got there because of that change, but there was a lot of honesty in what she was saying because I was the only one there at 5:20pm when it used to be packed right after opening.They did have something my picky kid would eat, so the family ended up meeting me for dinner. I ordered the half pound of beer battered lake perch with two pieces of fried cod for an extra $3 charge each, my wife got and older kid got cheeseburgers, and the picky kid got a kid's grilled cheese.My youngest liked his grilled cheese because we specifically asked for American cheese on it. The hostess believed it came with cheddar and we knew he wouldn't eat that.The older kid and my wife were impressed by the cheeseburgers. They weren't anything fancy, but they had really good flavor and were cooked medium-well like they wanted.I didn't love the cod, but the perch was fantastic. The pieces were small so I was given nine instead of the five I was told I would normally get for a half pound. That's okay cause I'd rather have more small pieces than fewer large pieces if the small ones taste like lake perch should and aren't bland. We all got crinkled fries, which isn't my favorite, but they weren't bad as far as crinkle fries go.By the time we left almost an hour later close to a dozen other people had come in. Certainly not the hopping place it was when they had the all you can eat fish fry, but not empty either. Even without the AYCE, we'll probably come back.

Look - this place doesn't have so much but is well rounded. I recommend the burger (believe it or not) med rare. Wings are good - pricey for 7 - ask for them crispy. And wonton cheese stix are a bonus. Wish they bring back the caprese salad - please! Breakfast however has changed and between dry toast and not so great morning service id choose elsewhere. They need to get the act together with the team at hilton garden. Noone has time to sit and order breakfast then wait around for it to come to your table. Do they? I dont. Just sayn

Food was cold and lack favor. The restaurant has transitioned to a buffet. The servers were wonderful.

Today was my fifth time to Allgauer's breakfast buffet (1 trip for Prime Rib on a Saturday). As usual I had the veggie omelet to order and the Chef manning the station recognized me and welcomed me back. The omelet was tasty and hot out of the pan. I think it may have been overloaded with veggies (not a bad thing) and somewhat burst coming out of the pan (pictured below). I have never been a guest at this hotel, but I do volunteer work at the MEPS nearby and once every couple months now I stop in for the buffet. When I arrived a little after 9 there were three customers in the dining area to include myself. Having been here before and not being a prepaid guest I asked for the check and to pay my bill right away as this could take some time to finalize the check in past visits. At first the servers would stop in frequently to check dishes, water and coffee for the three of us in the dining area. Then after a bit they were pretty sparse, probably taking care of other tasks for the lunch hour and catching up from the early breakfast rush. I'll be back again, hopefully I can get that tall glass of water I asked for after being asked what I would care to drink.

It's time to start lunch. Taking too long to get resources back in place after pandemic.

Very expensive and the food wasn't great. My buddy got pasta and it was cold. Mine was pretty bland.

(11 May visit) We stopped in, hoping for the prime rib special, but no dice this weekend. I opted for the fire grilled cheese burger, and my wife went for the crispy chicken sandwich. We've always had positive service experience, and it was no different today. The ambiance has changed somewhat more of a pub theme, including the addition of slot machines. Allaguers is now known as TAPS or something like that, but it is still the same, mostly.Good place to stop if you are looking for a quiet meal or just somewhere different to check out.

Food is less than desirable. Ordered a chicken sandwich and fries. Chicken was rubbery and fries were cold. I notified the server the fries were cold and asked for some hot fries. He eventually brought them, but also tried to charge me extra for a side of fries. Really!!! I learned my lesson, don't eat here.

While the restaurant is nice, the value for cost is just not there. They have great wraps and sandwiches, but the very limited and niche menu isn't very enticing. If you are a Friday fish fry person, there are better places especially for the price.

Service was terrific! Food delicious! Clean and welcoming atmosphere! my colleagues and I had a wonderful time. The young lady who served us was polite and accommodating. They had a burger special which was delicious . This may be our regular go to restaurant!
