Akari Sushi

Sushi can be very pricey, but this place is awesome for the price. You get decent quality at a good cost point and you get it super fast. The service has always been quick and it's great for those picking up a quick bite to eat. The restaurant itself doesn't have a lot of tables. I would consider this Location more to be for pick up versus eating in.

Dropped in to get a to go poke bowl. Super Fast easy service. Small place, with a couple tables. Loving the Chunky fish, delish!

I tried Akari on a whim and I am pleasantly surprised! I ordered take out and had it delivered. It was so fresh and so delicious. I think my favorite item was the chicken teriyaki. The sauce was really flavorful, the veggies had the perfect crunch and super fresh, and it was a good deal! The meal came with chicken, rice, veggies, a california roll AND a spring roll! I also ordered the monster roll which was good but a little too saucy for my liking I would probably try a different specialty roll next time. I will be ordering take out from here again!!

Akari is a great sushi place on the West side. Honestly, I've been searching for a decent sushi place in Madison. There is another popular place on the West side that I'm sure most people know of, but I dislike that place. I gave up on Madison sushi for a while, but then I got a coupon in the mail for Akari and decided why not.We ordered three rolls for $12.50 - spicy salmon, shrimp tempura, and eel avocado. The ingredients were pretty fresh. We also ordered the Out of Control special roll. I *think* the tuna on the inside of that is supposed to be just seared like ahi tuna, but I'm not sure. It ended up being pretty cooked, which I didn't like that much. We also got a Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box. It had so much chicken in it. It was overflowing the take-out container. They forgot the 4 pieces of California roll, but oh well. We had also ordered Fried Rice but got White Rice.Overall, I enjoyed my meal. I feel like they only do take-out orders. I think they could improve on their sushi rice. Perhaps I came too late in the evening and the rice had dried out, but it wasn't sticky enough to hold the roll.

I've ordered from Akari a couple times now. The combination udon was decent and a great portion size (definitely enough for leftovers) but was lacking that savory note I was craving. Next time I'll try the house special, the Akari udon. The sushi is pretty good here as well. I have ordered the spicy salmon, spicy tuna, and spicy crabmeat roll, and enjoyed them all. I highly recommend the spicy tuna and spicy crabmeat rolls - I'm definitely ordering those two again. The prices are fair, if not leaning towards the inexpensive side. I will definitely order from here again!

Sushi fanatic here! I am so disappointed by the lack of sushi options on the west side of Madison/Verona. I have passed Akari on Gammon Road many times, but the curb appeal leaves a lot to be desired, so I never really considered eating from here. However, I am home alone this weekend and figured it would be a good time to order carry out, and this is the closest sushi to me.I placed my order online. The online ordering is very simple and straightforward. I ordered A LOT of food because I really wanted to try a lot of different things AND because the prices are super low, especially compared to other places in town.My order was ready when promised, and due to COVID, it was waiting for me at a table blocking the doorway of the restaurant. There were too many to-go containers. They definitely could have cut down on the plastic being used. Otherwise, everything looked awesome. I was super impressed by the thick cuts of sashimi. It might actually be the most generous portion of sashimi I have ever seen, plus it was delicious! In addition, I ordered 3 regular rolls and a special roll. The rolls were very good. I like the amount of rice they used, just a thin layer, but not enough to overwhelm the other ingredients. My special roll (Monster roll,) tasted awesome, but didn't stay together super well. There was also A TON of cream cheese in the two rolls I ordered that have cream cheese. They went a little skimpy on the fish and VERY heavy on the cheese. I personally LOVE cream cheese, so I'm actually very happy with it.. others may not be. You also have to keep in mind the low price of the rolls, I still believe this is a great deal. I will absolutely order from here again, it's quick, inexpensive, and satisfying!

I do not recommend the Philly roll, it will ruin your evening. I can't imagine the amount of money they could be saving on cream cheese if they just made a normal roll, especially during these difficult times. I added in a second star to my review because I had an enjoyable time deconstructing all of the rolls and removing the excess cream cheese.

This sushi restaurant is the best in town in terms of food quality, freshness of fishes, and tastes. The special maki rolls are all the best and delicious. Although dining hall is small, I ordered sushi rolls for carry out. I visit this restaurant whenever I am at Madison/Middleton areas.

I love their spicy tuna rolls and the prices are very reasonable. The only issue I've ever had is for whatever reason the rolls can fall apart pretty easily which can make them difficult to eat. The taste is exceptional though so i can sacrifice

I have never been so disappointed ordering food before that I have to write negative review here. I ordered salmon donburi for $18+ it failed to meet even my lowest expectation, what I received was a bowl of unseasoned white rice and a few slices of unseasoned raw salmon and crab on top, there were no sauce, no vegetables, no chives, nothing. I also ordered seafood fried rice which is plain and flavorless, it looks to me it's just rice stirred in soy sauce with a few shrimp, no garlic, no chives, and I don't even taste salt. I do think this is the most overpriced and lowest quality food that I have had, I will never order from this place ever again.
