HUNGARIAN CHIMNEY CAKE chimney cakes or "kürtőskalács" are traditional hungarian pastries. these fresh-baked chimney cakes are crispy, caramelized on the outside and soft, fluffy inside I tried their strawberry goat cheese chimney cake and it was a perfect afternoon snack/dessert they also have savory ones like smoked salmon or herb + cheese.you can also find them at the little italy farmers market every saturday!

Mia Sorrella had been popping up at local farmers markets over the years before establishing a more permanent presence last summer at one of the vendor stalls inside the Liberty Public Market in Liberty Station. Chimney cakes (kürtőskalács) are a traditional Hungarian bread made from a sweet yeast dough that is rolled into a long rope and baked around a cylinder. The shape resembles a chimney, hence the name. The filling can be sweet or savory. The menu offered four of the former and two of the latter. Fruit-infused teas and kombucha were available as beverages. The Chimney Brooklyn ($15) was my pick which had Atlantic smoked salmon, artichoke spread, arugula, lemon, cherry tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers, and parmesan cheese inside the cylindrical dough. It was a very flavorful and healthy combination. My one criticism was that more salmon was needed to give a better protein ratio and to justify the cost. Mini stuffed chimney cakes could be purchased in boxes with quantities ranging from four to twelve. Chimney rings were also sold in which the cake was cut into rings that could be dipped into a sauce.

The first I had a Chimney cake (Kürtöskalács) was during my trip to Prague in 2016. It was one of the most decadent food experiences I've ever had, so I was ecstatic to stumble upon Mia Sorella Chimney Cakes located in the Liberty Station market. There were a few times when we came close to closing time, and my husband and I just missed getting our chimney cake. However, we finally had the chance to try it, and we ordered the Prague chimney cake. It was delicious. The chimney cake was moist and well-made.The service is friendly, and I could tell our Chimney cake was made with love and care. I hope they offer ice cream with the chimney cake in the future, as it would be the perfect indulgence.

We tried the chimney cranberry goat cheese cake and it did not disappoint. The dough was hand rolled and baked in real time, but the wait was well worth it. Truly felt like biting into a freshly made pastry. Would come back for this treat.

This place was great! I got the original chimney cake with cinnamon sugar. This was my first time seeing this outside of Prague. The employee was so nice. She was working her butt off between taking orders and making the chimney cakes. We waited about 15 min for our chimney cake, but I thought it was worth it! Who doesn't love a cinnamon sugar pastry?! It's located in the back of the market. Just be patient for your chimney cake if they get busy.

Visited the new location which is round at the end of one of the aisles inside Liberty Station's market! Right beside the ramen place, I think. The employee at the register was quick to get my order.I got myself the cranberry goat cheese chimney cake with some whipped cream (this costed extra). I personally like the strong flavor of goat cheese and it complements the cranberry flavor already in the cheese and the strawberries. The whipped cream is also homemade and you can really taste it. It can feel heavy, but I quite liked it with the cheese and strawberries. The actual chimney cake itself, the bready cone, is semi sweet dusted with sugar and some walnuts and I liked how it wasn't too fluffy or too thick. It was just right to hold the ingredients yet it isn't like eating a whole pretzel. They have seasonal flavors which I think is fun. It wasn't available when I visited today, but I was told starting the next week fig cheesecake is a flavor you can order.Looking forward to buying another chimney cake in the future!

Little underwhelming, filling was just fruit mainly and make sure to not share, this is hard to share. Overall concept is good but just expected more filling.

Went to the Vista Strawberry Festival and came across their booth. Have been wanting to tey these forever! We just got the OG, which is the one with cinnamon sugar. They also have savory ones I wanna try! They were making it fresh so just had to wait 5 minutes. I like how it's a little crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. If you don't get one with a filling, it's like a hollow cone. :-) I kinda wanted to unravel it and wrap it around a hot dog. LOL!

I didn't mean to eat here but glad I did. I had something sweet and savory. I had the herbs & cheese (perfect salad wrapped in Parmesan chimney cake) and for dessert the Prague (strawberries & choc ganache).
