Mi Fogata

What an AMAZING experience me and my girlfriends had here on a Friday night. We actually went to a restaurant for dinner across the street first and left there still hungry so we said let's check this place out and I'm so happy we did! This turned out to be one of those nights that you keep in your memories forever and talk about with your girlfriends forever. Let's start from the beginning! I'm so bad with names but We were greeted by the husband of the owner who was very kind and sat us outside where we wanted to sit. He turned on the speakers for us to set the mood. We ordered tacos and were so happy with the complimentary chips and salsa. The red one was very spicy I'd have to say, but our waitress switched it out for green for us :) Their margaritas were DELICIOUS! Only $10 for their house Tequila and $12 for tequila of your choice. Us 3 had two individuals each and then shared a pitcher once our 4th arrived. We were LIT haha! The husband brought the owner out and she was just the cutest and sweetest lady ever! She brought us out a sample of her homemade mole that tasted just like abuelita chocolate! The tacos were really good - the steak was tender!We were invited inside to sing karaoke with everyone which was soo much fun! They were actually saying goodbye to a dear friend of theirs and had a goodbye cake for her and they shared with us! Soo caring! We were absolutely treated like family and we have to come back!

You have me at Mole. I have been craving it for months and this one delivered. Anyone who has prepared this dish knows the difficulty in striking the right balance with the numerous ingredients. Chocolate should be present but not dominate. Here you have warming spices, a touch of floral and bitter, and magically a heat that come minutes later. Not spicy. More of a warm afterglow. I liked the sauce so much I kept the remaining teaspoons for later. Sell me a jar of this! It would be a full five stars but the chicken appears to be cooked separately because it did not have much flavor on its own. Reasonably priced for the sabor it delivers. It comes with rice,salad, refried beans, and corn tortillas. Also, I love fresh squeezed OJ.Pleasant dining areas. The backroom appears to be for private parties. I stopped by on the way home from the beach so I did take out. It seems like a mom and pop kind of place with TLC on the plate.

The weekend buffet reopened a few months back, but we finally tried it last Sunday. Nice selection of delicious food. It runs $16 (maybe $16.95?) per person. I never eat the worth of a buffet, but I'd rather a selection than my standard waffles go to that don't necessarily heat up well.

This place is amazing! Blown away from the first bite. By far the best Mexican in the neighborhood.

This is the best Mexican food you can get in the area. The guacamole was out of this world and made fresh right there. The margaritas were absolutely delicious. We had to have two. I highly recommend this spot, and I hope to see more people going. Must try the enchiladas de mole, and a little bit of everything with the combination.

Run by friendly & courteous Dan & Eugenia w/ great service & very good Mexican food entrees at very reasonable prices (e.g. 3 enchilada verdes plate,rice & beans $13.95!). Free tableside chips & salsa. Freshly made tortilla chips & spicy pico de gallo for $2 more. Offer red/brownish sweet/spicy mole sauce too w/ medium depth menu. Margaritas (16oz) low cost w/ decent house tequila for $10, call upper tequila for $12 incl. Don Julio,Herradura,Patron,more. Open late til 11pm FRI,SAT, 9pm M,W,THURS,SUN. Music on patio too under tree lined & umbrella tables. A REAL NEIGHBORHOOD TREASURE @ Western Ave & Montrose. OLE!

This place is so cute and the food is bomb! The decoration and ambiance is super nice, and the service is very good. (:

Mi Fogata is truly one of our family's favorite Mexican Restaurants. We dine there on a weekly basis and the food is delicious! Some of our favorites are their burritos, tacos, quesadillas, nachos, guacamole and of course their homemade chicken soup! Their prices are extremely affordable as well.If you like Mexican food then you must try, Mi Fogata!

My daughter ordered 2 soups chicken tortillas and sopa de res . Was horrible barely any vegetable, no taste The sopa de res always come with a side of rice the meat was poor quality and was more water than anything else I don't understand how this restaurant is still in business I'm Mexican and I know how the sopa de rest should be taste . It's embarrassed that these people are serving this kind of food in Chicago NeVer Again .....

Recommend to come here when I Chicago for a night. Amazing food the guac is fantastic and tacos rice and beans were great! Also got a margarita which was perfectly made. Definitely recommend
