Cool homey eatery serving uniquely styled enchiladas, chili rellenos & killer 'big' salads.Theys got a very convenient accessible locale off Eastlake and Oakview, near Oakhurst Market. Always eat outside at their happening patio, weather permitting; as this sordid Decatur, thru & thru :)Usually start with their Fresh Guac, with a couple bev's, depending on the day. Then move to their spectacular Avocado Salad; Comes with a vibrant avocado honey? sauce. Certainly add shrimp to any of their salads- Jumps it from good, to Excellente!Servers, Eliza, are very friendly & accessible. Nice happening place

I look a seat on the covered outdoor patio. Although it was very hot outside this space was comfortable. Service was fabulous!! I started with a margarita and chips with salsa. I had 2 steak tacos with beans and rice. I loved the meal and will definitely be back!

I was only in town for 48 hours and this place was on my list. I discovered this place pre-pandemic when I used to nanny in the neighborhood. It was always the green salsa for me! I call it the hidden gem of Decatur. If you're looking for the best salsa in town, give Mezcalito's Cantina a try. You won't be disappointed!

I used to go to Mezcalito's all the time when I lived nearby and a recent visit confirmed it's the same great little cantina I remember. I love the vibe as it makes you feel like you're in an authentic little cantina south of the border. And the food is excellent! Their chips are consistently fresh and they have a variety of salsas and queso to choose for a starter. My go-to is the tostadas which are great with their tender and flavorful shredded chicken. For drinks they have a good selection of cervezas and the sangria is notably good; it's less sweet than typical with some interesting notes in the finish. It tends to get crowded as it's a smaller place (the dining room was packed on a Monday) but service is good and they typically get orders out quickly. If you want some authentic Mexican food and are in the Decatur/Oakhurst area you can't beat Mezcalito's.

Stopped in for a quick bite and this was on my route The service was great the wait staff was attentive and very nice. I ordered the chicken quesadillas and my friend ordered a steak enchilada and the cheesecake flan. The food dead as expected. The items came out fresh and were pretty good

I don't like to write negative reviews. Too often, they are written by people who don't understand the food they are eating - like someone expecting Tex-Mex at a Oaxacan restaurant, when they have never encountered Oaxacan culture or cuisine before. Although I have traveled extensively in Mexico, and I'm a huge fan of all the moles I've met, I could have missed one...and maybe that was the sauce on the roasted poblano I ordered via Uber Eats tonight. Billed as green mole, it was actually a drab putty gray. I didn't detect much garlic, cumin or salt; or any of the array of fresh herbs that give mole verde its name. On the plus side, it did taste of pumpkin seeds, and packed a mild punch of heat.I might have chalked up my disappointment to this being my first order from the restaurant, and I simply made a poor call. But my avocado salad boasted its own weirdness - a drizzle of sweet avocado sauce that could have been avocado and...condensed milk??? Again, could have been my misdirected expectation of something with a hit of citrus/acid, and I am simply not familiar with this type of dressing.I was very glad I had ordered chips, cheese dip, and salsa, though. They were dinner, along with my wiped-down avocado slices, and the black beans that came with my gray-sauced pepper. It's possible, too, that my review might have been much less disappoint-y if I had dined in, with a fabulous marg at the ready...who knows?

We are here for the second time. Food is tasty and super fresh. We sat on the patio this time because we had our pup with us. Service was great. I meant to add a photo, but there is nothing left on our plates.

I came here last Friday and this place is a gem and super cute! My taco was delicious and so were the chips. The real star of the show is the Margarita!It was delicious and filled with great tequila!

Delivery orderI ordered the two chicken enchilada meal for myself and I was presently surprised. It didn't weigh a ton so I was concerned that it wouldn't be enough, but I was wrong. It came with green rice and black beans, both were flavorful and not overly salty. Thank goodness. The two enchiladas were filled with shredded chicken that was all white meat and tasty. It may have had corn in it too. One enchilada had green sauce on top and the other red. Both topped with melted cheese. They were too close together for me to really tell the difference in sauce flavor, but both were good. I only wish chips came with it, but that isn't a deal breaker. Now I just need to go and visit the establishment next time and try the chips and salsa to see if they earn the last star.

Yes yes and yes. Love Mezcalitos. Such a nice vibe in the downtown area of Oakhurst. All the dishes I've had have been great! Delicious food and drinks! If you're a tequila and spicy fan , they have their own devils water available for shots or spicy margs. The devils water comes from a dispenser that's filled with peppers and tequila.
