We are food snobs who really dread attending large events that feature banquet type food. There is always the worry that there will be too many things we can't eat (we are essentially pescatarian but keep Jewish dietary laws - kosher - in our home. Plus my husband doesn't eat nuts and we wanted to ensure there would be GF and vegan options.) You know what happens when you don't eat enough at an event that has an open bar? You run the risk of being "over served"... Keri and the team at Urban Phoenix were the perfect fit for our son's bar mitzvah celebration and now my husband and I are brainstorming and inventing other parties we can have just so we can work with them and eat their food again. They took our island theme and went heavy on the vegetables which is the way we like it. The cauliflower passed appetizer tasted "just like shrimp" according to my mother. The taco bar was delicious. Even though WE don't eat a lot of meat/poultry, we anticipated that our guests would be expecting it. The jackfruit substituted beautifully for brisket/pulled pork and I wish there had been leftovers of that dish. And the tostones. Our fry bar featured plant based "meat" sliders and... my son's friends thought they had eaten cheeseburgers. But the piec de resistance... THE POKE BAR with fish sourced locally from Chula Seafood. We had 140 guests at this event and we've probably heard from 100 of them that the poke bar was "bussin-bussin." According to my 13 year old son, this means "delicious". The presentation was top-notch and artistic. We are beyond happy to have worked with Urban Phoenix and would recommend them in a heartbeat. We have zero complaints. These are people who love food, love entertaining and take care of their clients.

This place has the best food I've had in a long time for parties! They're quick, simple, and don't require all the fancy stuff to sign up for a job. The chef is fantastic and all the employees are high hearted and amazing!
