Taste Of Honduras

Where do I begin? First of all, this place had friendly service, the waitress was very hospitable. I appreciate the staff calling security to get rid of the homeless person who just came in to cause a ruckus.Now the most important part, the food. Being from a background of Salvadorian heritage, I can say Central American cuisine has many similarities, yet so different at the same time. I love pollo con tajadas, my favorite besides the baleadas. I ordered pollo con tajada, this was not the typical dish of pollo con tajadas. They served the dish with so much sauce that I was wondering if it was a soup. The plantain chips, tajadas, were so soggy from all the liquid (soup) they added to the dish. Chicken had no flavor. Maybe the rest of the dishes are better, but my curiosity to give them another chance is a no go. With the rise of food prices increasing, I'll just take my business else where.

Came here with some friends for Sunday breakfast/brunch. Overall, the food was okay. Not great, not terrible. Definitely overpriced. Our waitress didn't speak ANY English. Like, not even "We need a minute." The coffee was burnt and my mug was dirty (it had food stuck to the outside from the prior wash). Overall, less than "meh." Would not recommend.

No se x donde empezar, ya de entrada la mesera q llegó a atendernos tenia toda su ropa sucia (y no de 1 día) y hasta todas sus uñas estaban sucias! Tienen q pensar q están trabajando con comida! lo primero q uno piensa q si así se ven...como manejaran la comida?! con mi esposo pedimos 1 vaso d agua natural y 1 agua de nance... sabía a agua estancada! yo he trabajado en restaurantes x 17 años...y eso pasa cuando no se limpia la maquina de las aguas... se acumula moho en la máquina x el azucar. Luego pedimos unas baleadas, esas estaban bien. Y 2 caldos... los 2 venían con el l guineo negro x dentro. Al reclamarle a la mesera nos dijo q ella no veía nada malo, luego nos dijo q había sido un accident...se lo enseñamos a la dueña y dijo q ella no tenía la culpa si cuando ella hechaba el guineo estaba bien, y cuando se cocinaba se ponía negro... osea...el guineo se transforma?? Yo no sabía! Perdon x mi ignorancia

HAVE AGAIN: The Honduras tacos were really good. Stuffed plantain was good. I was unable to order online because the person taking the order just spoke Spanish; forturnately, a Spanish speaking member of my family was then able to place the order. It was still difficult because of the loud noised on their end of the call. Still, we were very pleased to try Honduras food for the first time.NOT HAVE AGAIN: The special baleada with eggs and mead was ok and I was glad to try it for the first time. But just not something I'd have again here.

So if this review was based on the food alone then it probably wouldn't get a 2 star but I can't get over the crappy experience. My sister and I decided to try a new place and we brought our kids with us. When you enter the establishment you see 7 tables, the place isn't huge however they do have a connecting room with additional tables. The woman in the front desk greets us and tells us we can sit anywhere and hands us the menu. About 2 minutes later she comes over to take our order we advise her we need more time and apologize for taking a extra time to order but place an drink order at that time anyways. She comes back over roughly about 5 minutes later at which time we order two orders of Mac and cheese for the kiddos, my sister orders the Baleada especial and I order the Tacos Hondureños with a side of rice. About 10 minutes later the woman returns with food for my sister and I. It takes roughly about 20 minutes later for the woman to come back and give the kids their food. At this point other patrons who came in after us have already gotten their food and are done eating, yet we are still waiting. I'm not sure if this woman had a bad day today but from the beginning it was almost laughable that we would come in and want to eat here as she laughs at every time we ask her questions about the menu. Never have I went to a new restaurant and had such a rude response while asking questions about a menu. Ultimately I will not be back, the 4 dollar coke bottle is not worth the experience of this restaurant.Back to the food though. The Tacos Hondureños were really delicious even though they arrived to our table room temperature almost cold by the time that I had a bite since I was trying to wait for the kiddos food to get to our table. They were topped with onions, cheese, and coleslaw. The main thing for me was that they were crunchy which made them so much better. The Mac and cheese was pretty basic, resembled the Mac and cheese that I make at home that comes from the box.

$40 por una sopa más o menos. Realmente estaba decepcionado con el servicio, precios , ambiente, y porciones. No es nada comparable con la comida Hondureña de New York o Los ÁngelesYo regresara pero $40 por una sopa está pasado de v@&$a

Overall a good spot for something a little different. Good service. I had the carne asada meal with salad, rice and beans. It was salty but good. They didn't have deserts for today, so sad.

Their menu says they have flan so I called and asked if they had fun. They said they didn't speak English and hung up on me. I tried to come in anyway and when I got here I asked them for flan. Again she said she didn't speak English and just looked at me like I was crazy. First of all flan is on the menu and secondly flan is not an English word.

Nice to have a different cuisine in the area of 19th Ave and Northern. Try the baleadas especially.
