I was at the SanTan mall alone on a Saturday night and decided to eat at one of the newer restaurants here. Thirsty Lion and Salt were both packed and even the bar seating was full. Instead of waiting I kept walking south and found State 48 Tap House which was surprisingly empty given the crowds at the first spots I past...maybe this was a sign to keep walking. Instead I entered and sat at the bar. The bar is a long counter with about 15-20 seats and views out toward the mall walkway and street. There were also high-top tables in the bar and a standard dining area with a few scattered patrons. Being only the 3rd person sitting at the bar I expected prompt service. This was not the case. I was not acknowledged after sitting down despite two bartenders walking in and out of the bar row during this time. After about 5mins one of the bartenders asked what I wanted and requested a food menu, which was very hard to read due to the lighter text on a black menu with fake weathering added that just made focusing on the text harder. Instead of using the menu I opened my phone. The entree description on the phone was awful and I added as a picture below. I went back to the menu because the description of the ingredients was much easier to read and ordered the Southwest Chicken Pasta. The pasta dish was pretty tasty. I don't understand the corn in the dish as there wasn't enough to add any flavor. I forgot there was even corn in it until near the bottom of the bowl I saw some kernels there. The alfredo sauce was a little runnier than I imagined but it had good flavor. The best part was the grilled chicken that had some seasoning to make it pop.I realized the bartender never told me her name or spent more than 10 seconds talking to me. That's not a big deal but I was really the only customer left at the bar as the other two patrons left pretty soon after I arrived. I got the bill and paid and left. Overall my pasta dish was good but the service was poor given the few people in the restaurant and even fewer at the bar. I don't anticipate coming back here on my own volition any time soon as there are many options at this mall and the crowds seem to know which establishments are the ones to prioritize.

Stopped in for a happy hour during holiday shopping. Good happy hour beer prices and a friendly staff makes a quick stop in that much better!

Happy Hour 1/2 price beers. Finally, the absolute best gluten-reduced beer ever, Buzz Lightbeer. Wanted to take home a few 6 packs but sadly they were out. Friendly attentive waitress, Kara, and chill vibe. Hubs enjoyed the Van Buren. Just beer today. Just a suggestion: Offer a few happy hour appetizers. Recommend! ~EG Eats

Our drinks were good - my margarita was more sweet and didn't taste like it had any alcohol in it. However, on happy hour my margarita was $6 with a $1 charge for flavor so it was a great price. My turkey wrap was fine, nothing write home about. We liked the pretzels and cheese/mustard a lot! Our server was also SUPER attentive, but almost too much? She came by every couple of minutes asking if we wanted more to drink or eat constantly when we had to say "oh we're just going to sit and enjoy our drinks and talk before we eat"... which isn't normally a problem but on a Friday night after a long week we wanted to relax. Overall the meal and experience was fine, but we'd probably try other places in the area!

For our first visit we were amazed, this place rocks! This modern day Brewhouse (or as call it, American Super Pub) is not only ample, huge, and comfy, it's busy, fun and atmospheric - a 'Happening Place'. Not as loud as one would think, although I wasn't there for a game day! Industrial-size comfort you might say. The food and drink are extraordinary too! The State 48 Blood Orange Belgian Blonde is fabulous and so is the Van Buren Belgian Blonde as well as their Javelina Hefeweizen; the Hell Bich Bitch Belgian Tripel is excellent. Their mixed drinks, including the Raspberry Margarita were great. A selection of tasty appetizers, salads, entrees galore, especially the Fish Tacos and the Salmon Salad. This place puts many brewhouses to shame. Good job guys, keep up the great work!

Portions are big, flights are good, this place is huge with different styles of seating. Service was amazing and plenty of parking around the building.

Decided to try this place for the first time. Disappointed to spend almost $50 and not enjoy the food. Ordered the state 48 burger and the brisket sandwich. Burger bun was stale and dry, meat was burnt, no sauce for the burger and non offered, making it more dry. Fries were supposed to be beer battered, they had no coating and not very good either. Dining room didn't have very many other customers and it still took over 20 minutes to get food out. 2 stars because hubby liked the brisket sandwich.

I was pretty close to giving this 3 stars maybe even more just because our most recent visit(last night) our waitress was extremely nice/attentive and understanding of our situation. I know most people frown upon kids going to breweries but unfortunately for some of you stale folks. We do not have the luxury of willing family that live close by or live in our house to constantly watch our kids to go out for dinner. And our kids do not sit still. Believe me it doesn't matter how many times you ask nicely/bribe/yell/scold etc they just Do NOT stop. EVER. We used to love the idea that this place was empty because we could let our son kind of roam at his leisure so we can get a break. But unfortunately one of the servers or bussers/hostess takes her job INSANELY serious and doesn't probably have kids like ours where she thinks yelling at people's kids will work and make me want to return. I was damn near tempted to not even order food at this point because the idea of getting a break here went out the window when she decided to not only yell at my son but yell at our friends daughter as well. So now are they not over beyond the high tops but they came back and our friends daughter came up to our high top and she smacked her face on the bar for your feet trying to get up into our booth. So maybe if the one server wanted to take a chill pill this could have been easily avoided. So aside from the awkward start, we have ordered here a few times prior and the food is never anything memorable. And since last nights dinner is burned in my brain it was pretty awful. I personally don't care for the disco fries. My husband enjoys them but it's just way too much for me. Gravy and another gravy on top of the fries it's so thick. The house dry rub is in my top 3 worst dry rubs I've ever had. I absolutely despise sweet wings. And they have a type of spice on it i can't put my finger on but it was just plain awful. Highly don't recommend. Since it was half off beers last night my husband thought it would be a good deal and we only got 2-3 appetizers. He said he would much rather buy a keg and enjoy it in our home without nazis yelling at us about our kids. I put money on it this is one of those places that upcharge if you have kids with you that don't sit still. So if you have kids like ours i don't recommend this place for so many reasons.

Besides providing clean menus, how about actually having the brews that brought me to establishment advertised on the website, and not have the waitress say oh yeah they never update the beer menu
