Sam's Famous Subs

This is the best hidden treasure! I will never go to s@bw*y again. Sam is the owner AND the sandwich maker. His bread is made fresh daily and he slices the meat as you order. I felt like I just walked into the little corner cafe where all the men stop for coffee every morning. There were 4/5 men having lunch and just hanging out with Sam. He seems to be very loved. Sam was so sweet and is very passionate about his craft. I will absolutely be back! Side note: CASH ONLY

Sam is a great guy with a great attitude. His subs are just right, no question about it. Thank you Sam for a perfect Miami's beat today. I ate the whole thing. FYI : this place is cash only.

4.5 stars. I like this place! I only found it because of yelp reviews. I am through this part of town all the time and didn't even know it was there. Who knew there would be a good spot in a gas station? Owner is there making the sandwiches himself and is genuinely friendly. Epitome of small biz IMO. Says he has been there 22 years. I got turkey, roast beef, and cheddar sub. The footlongs are huge, could feed two easily. Bring cash, he doesn't take cards. I had to use my debit at the gas station counter to get cash back.

Update: went back again to get a sandwich hoping the first great experience wasn't a fluke. It was not!! These sammies are sooooo good. I can't get over how fresh everything is and the bread so sooooooft.

one of the best sandwiches i've had in a long time. sam was very kind and gave me great recommendations! it is cash only so make sure to have some cash on hand if you choose to come here but it's so worth it! definitely don't judge a book by its cover since it's in a gas station. definitely worth a try!! sam bakes most of the bread fresh and it's DELICIOUS and soft

A hidden gem inside the chevron gas station. Don't be put off, they have several types of fresh bread, great sandwich, friendly service! I'll definitely return!

Best deli sandwich I've ever had!!!!!! Soft and really delicious bread, fresh cut meat, fresh cut vegetables. Sam was so kind and was willing to make anything!! Had great recommendations for what to get and how to have it made. Will be telling everyone I know about this hidden gem. It may be in a gas station which seems funny but you just proves you should never judge a book by its cover. Thank you Sam!!!

Tried this place out today and I have to say, Sam's is the bomb. Okay, okay. Yes, it is a little sketchy looking from the outside, and yes, it is located inside of a Chevron gas station, but I've had MANY sandwiches in my life and Sam's is a high tier contender. We had three 12" sandwiches to share: Buffalo chicken, Sam's Big Boy, and a turkey/roast beef with provolone. Each sandwich was assembled on fresh baked Italian white bread by the man himself and everything was delicious. We even had a chance to chat with the owner for a few minutes and learned that he moved here from Chicago and has been making sandwiches and serving the Mesa area for over 23 years. We're super excited to have found a quality small business deli here in Mesa and will definitely be back soon. I'll be sure to take some pictures next time. We ate everything too quick this first time around.

Was pretty good to be honest if you want a good sandwich this is the place,for deli's in arizona don't exist. I would absolutely go back for another sandwich.

Idk why there are so many 5 star reviews... Sandwich was mid at best. I'm sure there's easily better spots in Mesa than this place.
