I can't say enough great things about this restaurant! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. But the real highlight? The Picanha Steak Tacos-hands down the best steak tacos in the history of steak tacos. Every bite was packed with incredible flavor, and it was cooked to absolute perfection. Our server, Chris was outstanding--attentive, friendly, and truly the best server. His attention to detail and great recommendations made our dining experience even better. We're already planning to bring our friends next time, and we'll definitely be back soon. Highly recommend!

Great, attentive service. It's a great environment for a nice dining experience with friends or for a date night. Delicious food, the steak melted in our mouth. I love fish, tuna is my least favorite though, however the tuna appetizer was good maybe not worth $38. The elote was amazing with great flavor, perfect addition to the steak. I also had the churro and expresso infused whisky cocktail, it's a must get drink, especially if you are a expresso martini drinker.

Been on my list to get to for a few weeks. Finally made it in tonight. I'm a big fan!!! Convenient location for me in S Gilbert (East Valley). In a cool little area off Recker that has a bunch of other small restaurants and unique shops. Saturday night ... it was very busy. Reservations a must on the weekendsThere's actually ample parking because of all the other shops and services and restaurants. However everything was pretty full tonight when we got to the restaurant about seven so we had to park a little bit away. It was a nice night though so no big deal. We had a 7 PM reservation and arrived about 655 and there was only a very short wait before we were taken to our table. You are given four or five sheets of paper, one of which is the restaurant menu front and back. There is also a craft cocktail menu, a white, rosé and sparkling wine menu, and a separate red wine menu. Given the heavy weighting of steaks, pork, and chicken, this seems appropriate. A pretty good wine list with some well-known and some more unique wine offerings. Our server was very quick to get to our table and take our drink orders and answer any questions we had about the food menu .We started with two excellent appetizers. First, a queso fundido that we added Barbacoa to. Second, a rustic guacamole that we added pork belly to. They were both outstanding. For our entrées, we had a tenderloin of Iberico pork and porterhouse steak for two. We also ordered some chard broccolini, and some Elote corn. The Iberico pork tenderloin had a beautiful smoky and chocolatey mole that really made it.The interior of Origen is mostly wood, and the artwork belies it's Mexican heritage. If I had to describe the food, I would call it modern Mexican. But it's very authentic. The service is inspired. Despite the fact it was very, very busy and it looked like our server had more than a half dozen tables to wait, but we never waited for anything. I recommend you give it a try and I'll certainly be back .

We arrived for 5:30 reservations which they could not find. Place was empty so we were able to get table. Ordered drinks. The drinks took a good 20 minutes to arrive even though the place was fairly empty like maybe 6 tables. Waiter name starts with S (so as not to embarrass him) told us we were getting complimentary chips and salsa. What we actually got was 3 tortillas and 3 little cups of salsa. Although it was ok salsa one we got through the 3 tortillas for the 3 of us that was it. We asked for more and he went away and never brought us anymore even though we reminded him we wanted more. Disappointed since it really shouldn't be called complimentary when their prices are up there. We ordered the tacos with the bone marrow, and watermelon salad, beet salad, and birria plate. Very pricey for everything which is all ala carte. Nothing fancy about the taste. The tacos had a good flavor. My friend was not impressed with the birria meat dinner. Our server was friendly and checked on us a few times. He ended giving our bill to another table and rather than fixing it he reprinted and explained the confusion. Not sure I would return. 3 drinks and above food was about 189.00 and when he handed me the tablet is was automatically set to 40% tip! Luckily I caught that. Good luck guys as the decor is beautiful but not sure the food warrants the price.

I really wanted to love this place ... but sadly. It fell short. Came in for my bday dinner on Saturday . Ordered cocktails , a glass of wine and 2 carajillos (these took a solid 15-20 minutes to make) the restaurant wasn't very busy and it was only 5:15 pm.... then we ordered the ceviche , apparently this is not on the menu anymore (i was given an old menu) then we decided on the tuna, this was also no longer available, again... it was only 5:15pm. We settled on guac. It was good, lacked some flavor . Complementary bean dip was good , and the salsa were also tasty. Moving on to dinner, husband got the ribeye , which was cooked perfect, but also fell short on seasoning. I got the Barbacoa and it was just ok.... Very very fatty , I maybe finished 1/3 of it .. orders a second round of drinks . Another 15 -20 min.... Pros - beautiful restaurant and atmosphere , good drinks. And server was lovely. Cons- everything took too long, the few things we wanted weren't available and the few things we got were just meh.... I would def come back for drinks and apps at the bar, but will probably pass on dinner.

Two stars were given for ambience only...my husband was excited to make this reservation for our anniversary dinner with 2 of our closest friends. We arrived promptly at 5:30 and were immediately seated outside. Being this was our first visit, we had many questions regarding menu and server was very informative though we could sense he was also very busy. We ordered 3 Modelos & a craft cocktail and 2 appetizers, 1 guacamole & beef chicharrons & another with "crispy pork belly." A different server brought out 1of the modelo beers, we informed her that we all had ordered beverages & she said she would check on it, now the appetizers were delivered, still waiting on others beverages. The beef chicharrons-guacamole was good. The pork belly guacamole was not good. Rather than crispy pork belly as advertised on menu t was like boiled fat with minimal meat & again not crispy. With the appetizers 2 flour & 2 corn tortillas were delivered in a very beautiful round leather tortilla warmer, the flour tortillas were good, the corn were rubbery and chewy. As I was admiring the tortilla holder, I begin to wonder how they clean it between party's? Leather on the outside and fabric on the inside?? It was starting to get a bit chilly with our jackets on and so we asked for the outside warmer to be turned on, it was out of propane, several attempts were made to light it through the evening & then finally before dessert a new tank replaced and we were given their apologies (we were told someone had to go buy or fill tanks) so most of the evening we were chilled. Our server came over to check on us & we let him know, we were still waiting for the others beverages, he apologized said the printer was acting up & that it must've only showed 1 beer. He then went to bar to get others beverages. Dinner was ordered: 3 steak meals, 2 sides and 1 of our guests ordered the Octopus appetizer as her meal, we made sure the waiter knew that she wanted it for dinner. We ordered another round of beverages, they were brought promptly and out came a solo appetizer of the Grilled Octopus, we let the young man know it was supposed to be her dinner entree and asked that it be taken back and have a new one made for her dinner. He said no problem. Dinner was served and the same Octopus meal was delivered this time it was barely warm and rubbery. This could only mean that it was the same one that had been delivered to table earlier...when young woman turned to check on us, we showed her and explained what must've happened and she insisted on fixing situation (the right thing to do) and apologized. My husbands ribeye steak was good and the 2 Pichanas steaks were capped with large pieces of fat, cooked well & chimchurri was tasty. Unfortunately, the best part of the meal was the smoked Mac n Cheese. We were very disappointed with our decision to spend our anniversary dinner here. When asked about the dessert options, we decided to share a lava cake & an Orijen version of tiramisu. Lava cake was delivered and last round of beverages were brought out, no mention of Happy Anniversary also only lava cake dessert was delivered. When our waiter came to see how everything was tasting we told him we were still waiting on the tiramisu and he was honest and said he misunderstood, thinking we were sharing the lava cake....Finally, when the bill was brought he asked if we wanted to itemize split or just split check down the middle....in the beginning we had already made it clear that the bill was to be split per couple...because it seemed to put him out at this point, we said we'd just split the total....What we heard more than anything at last nights dinner was, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry....Communication was definitely lacking and the cause of many of the mishaps. The server wasn't in charge of his table as there were way too many interactions (too many runners) with other staff that were not vested in our particular party. Had he been the one he would've caught most of these issues. The sad part is I'm sorry we chose Orijen for our celebratory dinner. I don't foresee us returning or being able to offer recommendations for others. Also, note they add 2.5% credit card fee.

I am giving the restaurant one star for the lovely decor. Everything else was...not great. We booked a reservation through OpenTable for 8:15. We noticed there were reservations all the way until 9:30, so we figured they were open until at least 10, leaving us plenty of time for a nice meal. We were still eating our food when a waitress came over just before 9 and said, "We're closing in like 3 minutes, if you want anything else, tell me now." We actually did want to try dessert, but we felt rushed and uncomfortable after that odd request. The food that we choose was bad across the board. The only thing that was truly delicious was the bean dip they brought to the table right when we sat down. The guacamole was bland, (most of the crunchy tortillas served were stale/tough) the ceviche was beyond chewy (probably over-marinated or poor quality fish) and therefore unappetizing to eat. We were most excited about trying the Barbacoa Regia. I had seen pictures online; what we received was not even close to what was represented in menu photos and descriptions. The meat was fatty, there were no salsas and no flour tortillas.I had mentioned when making a reservation that it was a birthday dinner, that was not addressed in any way. Rookie move on my part to try a new-to-me place for a special dinner. At this price point, I expected a lot more from the quality and service. This place is a great idea in theory; execution here is an entirely different story.

A hidden gem that apparently just opened a couple weeks prior to our visit. It did not show at all. The atmosphere is perfect for a date night or a group outing. The staff and servers were perfect. They were there when needed and left us alone when we wanted to talk. The food was phenomenal. This is a really cool venue. It is totally hidden in an unassuming shopping area. We actually wondered if they were open when we pulled up. The food: House made tortillas with refried beans and served with three house made salsas. Every thing was better than the previous. The Queso with the Short Rib barbacoa was almost too decadent (and I don't state that lightly). It was scrumptious. The Bluefin Tuna Tiradito stole the show with its' outstanding taste. My compliments to the chef. It was all delicious.

This place has been open for three weeks, as we were told, and we were asked for our patience as they work out some kinks. The waiting time is quite long, but considering it's new, I'm sure many people are eager to try it out. The service was good overall, though there were delays with some items, which I believe were due to a lack of communication. For instance, about three other tables were seated after us, yet they received the complimentary bean dip before we did. When you walk in, there are tables placed immediately in the entrance. In my opinion, removing at least 2-3 of these tables would be ideal, as the space is very cramped. It's hard to walk by without getting uncomfortably close to diners who are already eating. We ordered several items to try a variety of dishes. Overall, the food was good, but there wasn't a single item that stood out as exceptionally delicious or something that would bring me back. I also found the food to be pricey, and I believe you're paying more for the experience, as the restaurant itself is stunningly beautiful. If you're looking for an upscale dining experience, this might be the place for you.I would suggest that the tacos be sold individually. Currently, there are three options for tacos, but you can only order them in sets of four or five, all with the same protein. The burger meat was good and had a unique preparation, as it included bacon within the patty. If I had to highlight a few standout items, I'd say the fries, the bean dip, and the habanero salsa were the most memorable. The music was not too loud, and they had a nice variety in their selection. It was a very enjoyable choice overall. This was just my experience. The food and service were okay, keeping in mind that this is a new restaurant still finding its rhythm.
