Mount Athos Restaurant and Cafe

The waitress was awesome. The food was absolutely wonderful. The way they prepared the meat it was the best we've had yet. Everything was fresh and hot. The whole place is full of family and it's a wonderful thing to watch as they are full of life. We will be back.

This restaurant was recommended to my family and I by my friend. We were on our way back from St Anthony's Monastery, and Mount Athos was suggested as a stop for lunch. Firstly, this place is authentically Greek owned and the family is wonderful! My family and I are Greek, so we were looking forward to trying it out and it did not disappoint!From the service, to the atmosphere, to the generous plates of food, this place is a must to visit if you're in Florence.We ordered the Mediterranean charcuterie board, two gyro plates and a cheeseburger, and everything was delicious. Sas efxaristoume, we had a wonderful time and hope to be back at some point again! Shoutout to little Giorgo, you were the highlight of the day!!

We were in the Florence area for some other activities and decided to stop at Mount Athos for a late lunch. It seems like it's in the middle of nowhere but they have much to offer here. Their food is delicious, the service is attentive and the prices are reasonable.There was a meeting taking place in one area of the restaurant and's many other tables filled with patrons so it was a great indication that it's quite a popular local hang out.We had the Chicken Souvlaki pitas and were very happy with our tasty bites!The next time we're out in this area we'll have to come back for more tasty Greek goodness!

I've lived in Florence for nine years now and only recently tried Mt Athos, which was really a shame because the food was excellent. I believe that it's because I'm not really into Greek food,so I just didn't give it a shot. But they do pasta, burgers, liver and onions and so on. So don't wait, give them a shot. I am sorry I didn't do so until now.

Stopped in for lunch a few days ago. The lamb shank was the daily special, and even though it's a dinner item they were able to rustle up one for me for lunch.The lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender and moist. The rice was wonderful, really liked the spices. The carrots were very over-done, to the point of being mushy. Flavor was great, just overdone.My wife had the gyros sandwich which is always wonderful here. She really liked the flavor of the onions, whatever kind they are they're great!The place is pretty quiet once the snowbirds are gone, but that just means no waiting for us year-rounders!

Amazing staff, and friendly atmosphere. Best place for lunch!! Nicoletta and the owner (so sorry I forgot your name!!) were so kind and hospitable. 10/10

What a great place to enjoy great food. From traditional American burgers, chicken, fries & onion rings Mount Athos will create delicious greek dishes to enjoy. The dishes are carefully prepared with fresh ingredients by a talented kitchen. The dining room is clean & comfortable. The staff are pleasant & very helpful.Florence is very fortunate to have Mount Athos in their community. We are looking forward to dining here again!!

A Saturday afternoon, and getting hangry. Tried another place in town, and couldn't get any service. Drove right over here, wasWelcomed and seated right away and placed orders. We both knew what we wanted, in a Greek restaurant, gyros!Very pleasant waitress brought our gyro dinners which included a large serving of good gyro slices, a mound of rice, a smaller mound of very tasty carrots,and a nice little salad.Service was let's say, relaxed! We don't mind waiting for freshly made food.Everything was tasty, ample and pleasing. Old school ambience fitted the small town atmosphere.Living in Queen Creek, it's an easy drive, and worth it. We will be returning.

Ok, it's in the middle of nowhere. But the gyros and service were really good. The restaurant was packed. Even parking was challenging and for good reason. The food was good. For lunch had the Greek salad with gyro meat. Even included dalmades. Very flavorful and the gyro slices were thick and substantial. Brought home a gyro platter for dinner. The salad was good, gyro was very good, rice ok, the vegetables were meh. So 4 instead of 5 stars. But I will return.

Im going to be very transparent with my review. Came in alone after work. I went ahead and got the "daily special" leg of lamb. Didn't know rice, can of carrots, and 3 dry slices of lamb was worth 30 dollars, but the meal was decent with taste. Unfortunately the server left a bad taste in my mouth. Very sarcastic from the start. Forgetting utensils and saying I didn't need them. I know she was obviously joking but it wasn't funny after staring at my salad for 10 minutes. Bottom line, if you're looking to save money on a "daily special" don't come here.
