Lacuna Kava Bar

long time fan of Lacuna! found this place several years ago when looking for alternatives to alcohol. also went to their grand opening in Sedona, beautiful location and store. it had been awhile since i've last visited and was in the area. decided to walk over and stop in and was not disappointed. the new downtown Lacuna location is absolutely beautiful and very vibey. similar to the old one but more space, love! the bartender was very friendly and made me a delicious Prickly Pear Limeade with red kratom and i paired it with a side of raw Vanuatu kava. was very relaxed while i hung out there and will definitely be returning for happy hour!my only concern/wish is to have a nutritional menu available for those who are conscious about calories, sugar etc. consumed. would be nice to have that information. overall i've met some really cool open minded people through Lacuna and am looking forward to returning more often!

This spot is my happy place. I love this kava bar and the kavatenders that work there. Kenzie and Jamie rock!!! They always know how to make my day. The kavatenders are also great at explaining what kava and kratom is and what they offer.Overall - delicious kava and kratom mock-tails, great vibes, fun events, and excellent service 100%. I always look forward to either work, chill, listen to live music, or even dance at Lacuna. It's also a cute spot for a date night.I highly recommend to stop by if you're ever in the area!

Such a neat find! I drove out to check out open mic hosted by the SOL Collective. What a talented group of people! Staff at Lacuna are so warm and friendly, great tea options. The violinist De_Ray_Luna was unbelievable! Lolly, AzPoet hat a great message. Loved the host GJ, what a sweetheart! Happy birthday GJ!

Love the new location. Great positive vibe. Kava comes in many varieties. Games, music, and other fun activities. Even has a small stage.

I love this place!! We were first timers, and were very happy with the experience & drinks. The employee was informative and helpful! The vibes were exactly what we were looking for- ambiance 5 stars

The low key chill vibe was just what I was looking for on a Sunday evening. I had a couple hours to waste waiting to pick up my daughter nearby. I found Lacuna! A great spot for a solo person or a group. I was solo and thankful for a safe later night place to hang out. I took a chance and ordered a relaxing tea. Jess was so kind and sweet with me as a first timer. Great ambiance. Rooms with different places to sit. Definitely want to go back, bring friends, and try a few different drinks.

My best friend took me here, and I fell in love with this place! Naturally when you like something you want to share it with others, so I decided to tell my little brother about it while he was here visiting from out of town. We were so excited to go in. We were smiling and all giddy, but when we walked in it was all dark inside and I had never seen it so empty inside. This night a mixer with dreadlocks was behind the counter [he did not greet us], so we decided to greet him [he never responded to us] we sit at the counter as we proceeded to look discussing our perspective orders [he still hasn't spoken to us] must've over heard us & continues to tell us "well, you better look at that menu again, we're out of CBD WINE& out of taro." You'd think he would have suggested a different item that was similar, but it was as if this guy just didn't want to be bothered to work, with us, or extremely angry at the world. My brother and I instantaneously both got up from our chairs. The tension/awkwardness in the air was so thick we totally just left. When we got outside my little brother says "did you feel that, did that just happen?" Totally embarrassing to take someone some where you talk up for them to be treated like this for their first experience. It seems ever since this night "taro root" is never there or they NEVER have it anymore!After trying 3-4x showing up from north Phoenix [30-40 mins away] I now call every time before I go all that way. That's ridiculous! I just don't get how you can continuously run out of something [especially if it's so popular with your customer base]? Just order more of that if you serve this more than anything?! They use to garnish the drinks with pineapple, I haven't seen that in a minute. I loved this place when it was more on point, but now it's just hit or miss if they even have what you want. When it's good it's good, but the lack of consistency sucks. Hope you have better chances than I have. Good luck!

My favorite third space in Downtown Phoenix! Cozy ambience for socializing and/or working!

0/10 recommend supporting this kava bar. They will try to nickle and dime you for everything. I have now had multiple experiences where I specifically ask for lemon juice and kratom (very common drink). The kavatenders have used limeade instead and up-charged me the $2 for the limeade. On one occasion they even lied multiple times reiterating it was lemon juice until the 4th time they admitted it wasn't. This is a terrible establishment from a pricing and service perspective. Unfortunately, it seems like they only care about increasing prices instead of establishing a loyal customer base. A standard drink is double the price compared to some of the other kava bars in the phx area.
