La Casita Of AJ

This is a "small" Family dine-in Mexican restaurant. It is a locals favorite. Seating is limited and close proximity which accounts for my star rating.Food is home Kitchen traditional Authentic Mexican fare with a good selection on the menu.Service is friendly and a little slow during lunch and dinner hours. Wait staff does their best with orders, it appears they have a small kitchen. If we are in A.J. we will likely stop here vs some of the Larger chains nearby.Give them a try!

The service was. Very friendly waitresses. The food was ok. The chips were not that good but free. It was a little run down and dirty bathrooms. Define needs some new paint and updating. It seemed popular with the seniors. Prices were reasonable.

This restaurant has been in AJ for many years. There is an attached parking lot with a decent amount of spaces. The restaurant is not huge so it seems applicable for the size of the establishment. We were promptly greeted and after a short wait, we were sat. The restaurant has such a special feel to it. It is decorated to appear as a casita and I just love that. Stopped in on a Wednesday and was pleasantly surprised to learn margaritas are on special for $4. Very tasty margs! Complimentary chips and salsa are served here. We ordered the poblano cheese dip ($6.75) as an appetizer and it had good flavor, but was a little loose texture wise in my opinion. I wasn't super hungry so for my meal, I ordered a bean and cheese burrito ($6.50). The burrito was okay, but nothing amazing and was a good size for the price. We had no issues during our visit and the service was great making this a 4 star trip. Anytime I have come here in the past, I have not had any complaints.

I went here with some friends after a hike in the Superstitions, craving some Mexican food. The food was good and the service was very nice and attentive.The chips and salsa were a little bland. They brought out some hot salsa for us which was much better. I ordered steak fajitas for lunch and they came out hot and fresh. I ended up going with 3 stars only because there is a lot of competition for Mexican food and this place didn't stand out. But don't let that steer you away! It's still a charming hole in the wall very conveniently located near some beautiful hikes.

When dining for Mexican there are many choices locally to try. There are $4 margaritas on Wednesdays, which was the highlight of the visit. The service was super friendly, but honestly, the food isn't that great. Additionally, the interior is out dated and a little dilapidated. A solid 3-star location and the decent prices I can see would draw in the crowd we saw for the dinner rush.

Had a craving for Mexican food and wanted to try a place I hadn't score, so that's what brought me to this gem on Apache Trail in Apache Junction. I was seated and served a Diet Coke and some chips & salsa as I checked out the menu. I got an enchilada meal with rice and beans. The food was delicious and just the right portion size, although normally I would end up taking half home. Not this day. I was hungry and finished it! Well worth it too! There was only one waitress that day and she did an amazing job, making sure everyone had their drinks filled, and everything they wanted or needed. Her customer service was awesomeso I left her a good tip.The ambiance is quiet and inviting. It's an older building but still decorated nicely with sombreros and decor. There's even a sign that says "Be Nice Or Leave"! I love that!I recommend this local business the next time you're in the area and craving Mexican food.

Went here for lunch today because a friend recommended it. The food is mediocre at best. Sent my pork tamale back as there was just enough meat in it to see the color. But it was mostly just the corn masa. The beef taco tasted good but was soggy from the juice on the plate. I got a cheese enchilada to replace the tamale and it was fair. The nachos were fair. My wife and two beef enchiladas and they were o k.

We were super hungry and my boyfriend talked me into trying this place for lunch since he's eaten here before and we both ended up being sorry that we did. As you can see by the pictures we had bugs at our table which can explain why we both ended up going home with food poisoning. Given the fact that he's got stage 3 cancer this wasn't a good situation for him and his health. The service was good the server was nice and polite. I ordered a two item combo my choices were a beef tamale and the chili relleno. The masa for the beef tamale was dry and crumbly it wasn't moist by any means. The chili relleno was super good the chili itself was cooked to perfection and the cheese ratio I side the chili itself was spot on. We also ordered a small side of guacamole that was decent by no means was it table side guacamole but with the fresh tortilla chips it was edible. Now the refried beans feel super short they had a really bad taste to them and maybe that contributed to the food poisoning or maybe something wasn't stored properly. My boyfriend ordered a two item combo he got chicken burrito and shredded pork enchilada that he liked until later that night when we were both in the bathroom sick as a dog. Needless to say this wasn't a good experience for either one of us between the bugs at the table and the food poisoning I won't be going back.

Enchiladas not good, the cheese inside was not even melted so hard and the chicken tasted like it came out of a can, not seasoned at all, a waste of money!

Food and service were AMAZING!Friendliest server, fresh margaritas and the food was so so good. Mexican Pizza, spinach enchiladas and the apple chimis--Yum!
