When traveling, a rule of mine is that I'll only eat at restaurants I don't have at home: No fast food or chains. I'm back in the Phoenix metro area (Mesa today), and breakfast was on the agenda.Using Yelp of course, we chose the French Toast Cafe. First impressions are good, with a clean and well lit store, and we were seated immediately. The menu is extensive with both breakfast and lunch options. We started with coffee, which was perfectly good diner coffee and our cups were never left empty. My group ordered the corned beef hash plate, a Haven Omelette, and a three meat omelette. Home fries are different around the country, and here they were long thin slices of potato cooked with some crispy edges. They were pretty good, though I prefer I cubed style more. Despite being the namesake, none of us got French toast, though the plates going by looked very good.We got to meet the very friendly owner and plenty of staff. It seemed like the teamwork here was great, and rather than having assigned tables, everyone was equally responsible for all their customers. Everyone stopped at the table to check on us or refill drinks. Service coming from the kitchen was a bit slower than I'm used to for breakfast food, and it took a while to get a check when we were done, but on vacation I'm happy to slow down.

Super excited that a new breakfast restaurant opened up close by! My husband and I came in on a Sunday right around 8AM. We were seated quickly. Great menu selection. We waved down our waiter and placed our order. I got the blueberry pancake combo with cake with eggs and sausage. Very filling meal, I had to take the other half of the pancakes as leftovers. The pancakes were ok and filled with a generous amount of blueberries. The eggs and sausage were great. My husband's Denver omelet was good too. Hash browns were delicious!Staff seemed a bit short staffed but we were able to get in and out. We enjoyed our meal. We noticed they serve lunch too so maybe we'll be back someday.

SCORED! This one is a keeper! Was looking for a breakfast place that is not a chain and found French Toast Cafe in East Mesa on the southeast corner of Sossamon and Guadalupe.First one in at 7:00 a.m, greeted by an owner who said WELCOME and shook my hand. Menu has lots of choices and very reasonable prices. Have you seen the price of eggs recently? French Toast has been open for two weeks. Place is clean and has a nice cafe vibe that you don't see in the chain stores! The skillet was recommended and I went for it. Consisted of a tender chicken fried steak with home fries, peppers smothered in a tasty gravy and toasted English Muffin. Coffee was hot and my cup was never empty.Finished most of the meal and will definitely be back. Put this one on your list for breakfast or lunch.

Oh my gosh, what a treat! We chose this based on yelp reviews, and it did not disappoint. I ordered the avocado toast, and it was probably the best I've ever had. The toast was such a great flavor! And a light drizzle of balsamic on top. Wish I had taken a picture before I dove in but I was too hungry. my husband had the skillet and it included the country fried steak. If it weren't rude to lick the plate, I'm sure he would have.If you are considering breakfast options, quit looking now! Come here and be wowed by the ambience and the food. The owner is the best. (and no, we are not related! I have never been to Mesa before. This is a first trip, and I have relied heavily on yelp reviews for choosing restaurants.)

Super mad. I was excited to try a new neighborhood breakfast spot. It was like a startup IHOP with no flavor, higher prices, and no ambience. When I walked in, there were three other tables of people, but it was so quiet it was like all eyes on me. The eggs were light and fluffy, but they had no flavor at all other than butter. The star of the show on the French toast is the Nutella sauce. I was hoping for more and wanted to love this place.

This restaurant just opened up in my neighborhood and it's such a cute new mom and pops. The food here was fresh and delicious. They are known for their french toast and they were phenomenal. Hubby had the BBQ burger so good. Portions are massive. You must give it a try i definitely recommend.

They've only been open not even a week and I've already gone twice lol. I love the Berry French Toast. We also tried their biscuits and gravy, and hash browns. All was very good! The coffee was delicious. And the service was great. I love the branding and the atmosphere is very inviting and you feel their want for you to love the experience and I appreciate that. Me and my family is making this one of our go-to favorite spots.

The staff is incredibly friendly and the manager maybe the owner was going by asking all the tables how it was. The servers stopped by several times and were very attentive. I had pancakes, eggs and bacon. I added hash browns for $3.99. Pancakes were delish. Bacon and hash browns tasted a little old. My wife had an omelet and she said it was fantastic. Her gluten break was meh! We got a salted pistachio latte and a coconut latte. Both were very good, but for $7 each I found them to be on the small side. They definitely should play some music in there. The walls are super cute and had a AZ vibe to it.
