This is going back to the basics and exploring a new breed of farmers. The Farmers Market @ the ASU Tempe campus is a concept that was started in the fall semester of 2007 as a service learning class by 9 ASU students and exist to promote sustainability and healthy eating among the students, faculty and staff. The convenient access of locally grown and produced foods are through a partnership with Az farmers. The majority of the produce is grown organic. If you are most interested in reducing pesticides in your food, buy organic versions of foods whose conventional forms may carry high levels of pesticide residues. These "Dirty Dozen" include: spinach, green peas, green beans, green onions (scallions), summer squash, winter squash, apples, peaches, pears, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries. The market was very busy today and many of the vendors were offering samples of their products. I could have got full just on samples alone. An excellent Earth Day on campus.Date and Times: https://students.asu.edu/farmersmarket/whenwhere
