We only ordered appetizers so I will have to return for a dinner for the full experience but this place has got to be one of the coolest restaurants I've dined it. From the dark lightening to the stunning chandeliers, walking in leaves you gasped. My friends and I ordered the guacamole, the Shishito Peppers and the Panko Fried Shrimp Tacos. The sesame glaze and ginger used on the peppers were beyond amazing.. literally was ready to lick the plate. The Panko Fried shrimp tacos were soo good that I forgot to take a pic until after we ate them . I opted for the alcohol free Mango Mule which was refreshing!Absolutely will be back. I need to try this place for a real dinner!

Elvira! Wow, your ambiance...inside is outstanding and photo worthy around every corner, weeping wax candles, and up high, taking in all the lanterns dangling with light, and the chandeliers are amazing! However, I could only get patio seating, when making my reservations, which was okay, in comparison to inside dining, it felt underwhelming. (This does not reflect my review, just a note.) what does reflect my review is, upon arriving I couldn't help but feel disappointed while we checked in, an older lady at the hostess stand, was rude, abrupt, and not friendly. She was uptight, and looked stressed, as she wanted to check people in, and not welcoming them in. I felt the younger gentleman could sense this, and was over the top pleasant, to correct the situation, which was sweet to see. Note to staff, people are going to be excited to try this new restaurant, maybe your hostess staff could match that excitement. For the food, it's was 5 out of 5 delicious! The guacamole was delicious, simple yet extraordinary! It did come with a pile of chips, and a teeny tiny vessel of bland salsa, (that could use some improvement. For an extra side of salsa, which is approximately 2-3 tablespoons is an addition $5.00 ridiculous! Our service was slow and very non existent. We were out of water twice, and had to ask for more water both times we did ask for another ridiculous $5.00 salsa, but never received it. I ordered a second margarita, and never received it. We also had to waive down our waiter to tell him we were ready to place our order. Unfortunately, the checking in process, and our service, forced me to rate Elvira's with a 3 star... hopefully these things will improve, because the food, and drinks are top notch delicious!!!

I enjoyed my dining experience at Elvira's. I wanted to eat there because I'm a huge fan of the original Elvira's in Tubac (which is incredibly beautiful - even more so than its DC Ranch counterpart), which has been family-owned since 1927 - it is definitely a bit of a local institution! Like the Tubac location, it is a pricey meal, but you would expect this from a place that markets itself as upscale dining. There is an upstairs location that has beautiful decorations in line with the main dining room. We were sadly seated in the outside area (we were told there were no tables available inside. Wish we had been asked for a preference when we made our reservation a few weeks ahead) and it was a bit lackluster in terms of the decor. Tip: when making a reservation, call them rather than using Open Table or other online reservation system and you won't need to give a credit card to hold the reservation. The food was good, portions are generous and of particular interest, they have a good selection of mole dishes. Service was friendly and our waiter was attentive. The decor is beautiful - though, again, if you've visited the Tubac location, you know it would be hard to top and this was not as lavishly decorated. But still very elegant.Plenty of parking as this is in a big plaza. There is a ramp for people with disabilities at the back, but not for the front entrance. No access to the upstairs area other than the stairs.

We have been to Elvira 's in Tupac and that one blew us away! This one was very nice, but it seems to be a Scottsdale water down version of the one in Tubac, just north of Nogales, Az! Don't get me wrong. The place is beautiful, but the one in Tubac is breathtaking! The food here was very good but comparing it to the L virus and Tubac this is where I say it's watered down. I had the halibut and I thought it was a bit bland. My husband had the ribeye steak and he thoroughly enjoyed that. My girlfriend had the shrimp Vallarta and I had that at the Elvira's in Tubac and it was so spicy and good that I couldn't wait to order it again. However, this one did not have the spice level that the one in Tubac had. The service was good and our drinks were phenomenal. For two people we spent about $300 including drinks, which was what I expected. That's not the part that bothered me because I will pay money for a good meal. I just felt that the food at the Scottsdale location, lacked the punch and spice level compared to the one in Tubac! Overall, we did enjoy ourselves, but I was disappointed because it did not live up to the greatness of Elvira's in Tubac!

Original restaurant is in Tubac. They chose DC Ranch of all places to house this 2nd location. Friend who suggested this amazing restaurant forgot to reserve a table. Gracious hostess made room for us on the patio, letting us know we had an hour 45 min before a reservation would be sat @ exact table. Elated, we order margaritas, sangria & mexican beer from our most personable & suggestive server, Landon. The food was so delicious, you can't wait to return. Vegetarian options like the Tequila Queso Fundido was so good! Snapper and Salmon we all raved, confirming our return to this great restaurant. Service, from the hostess that accommodated our party of 3, to the bussers, to Landon, our server well versed & most helpful with their menu. Not disappointed in the least bit with a beautiful dinner that left us happy and full, eager to return. Ambiance is lively and modernly decorated with very cool mexican art. The lighting decor invites you in immediately which I loved!

Food 2...service 4 and ambiance3 Loud thumping music for a club atmosphere. My husband is handicapped and they said we were seated upstairs with no elevator. We said abdolutely not!!! Open table never mentioned stairs when we made our reservations for the main dining. The place is less than desirable and the food is far from upscale. Not for the DC ranch crowd.

Another restaurant with cultural appropriation in Scottsdale . Portraying Latin culture but when latinas are there and then racially targeted by other guest we're asked to leave . The food was mediocre please take your money to restaurants like bacanora and true Latino restaurants where the food is not just a facade but it is the embodiment of la cultura. We Latinos are not welcomed here

We loved Elviras! The Ambiance when you walk in is great. Even the chairs were really comfortable. Our out of town guest asked to turn the music down so we could hear ourselves talk and request was accommodated which made ambience perfect. Our server was Christine and she was lovely. We had Guacamole appetizer which was delicious with pomegranate seeds in it. Loved my Sangria .For dinner Flank Steak Molcajete ( super tender) Mole Poblano and Chicken Enchiladas- all were so flavorful and delicious We ended with the Sweet Potato Flan.We were reading some mixed reviews and deciding if we should take our out of towner here. It was a home run. She absolutely loved it. We live close by and will definitely be back. Very special restaurant! We were too busy enjoying everything to remember to take pictures of our food. We definitely will next visit!
