El Rancho Alegre

El Rancho is our favorite Mexican food in the Apache Junction area. They do not have a printed menu but the owner is happy to show you the meats selection and options for those meats; carne asada, pollo, etc. served a la carte or as a plate with rice and beans. Choose your beverage from the cooler. 3 -4 types of salsa and homemade chips are extra and you pick from the case (we tried 3 different types, all fresh and so good).The location is a strip mall, the restaurant is part of a grocery market as well. Seating is available indoor and out. Absolutely terrific food!

Great local authentic TexMex food. I've had Menudo, Caldo De Res, and great Tacos. The restaurant is in a great location in NE San Antonio.

If you don't like the food here I would bet that you probably think Taco Bell is gourmet. This is a great spot for good carne Asada, carnitas, tortillas and Pan Dulce.

How did I JUST discover this place? Daily Fresh, homeade tortillas that are still warm in the bag when you go home would make my Mexican mother happy. It is so fresh that when you bite into it it just melts in your mouth. I think I hit the jackpot. This place is actually unassuming at first. Located in a sad looking strip mall this place is the shining beacon. Not only do they have fresh made tortillas but also freshly made mexican pastries like conchas and churros. The churros, filled inside with like a cajeta or caramel cream is probably one of the best I've had. It was warm, crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. It is a must have. They even have different kinds of birria, and I believe they have a small little restaurant connected to the store and the carniceria. So I think you can order tacos and burritos as well. I had just eaten lunch but I'm coming back here again. The store itself is small but they have some mexican sodas, mexican candies and I even found mexican cheetos! Torciditos for the win! The carniceria is also smaller but the asada looks amazing and they also have chicken. A local store that really transports you to Mexico when you would go to the local store and grab some pan dulce for the morning coffee or grab some asada for lunch or dinnertime. The workers were so nice and let me sample a fresh off the stove tortilla. Overall, knowing this gem of store is nearby I'll be frequenting it more often.

Someone told us about this little hole in the wall in a strip mall and it did not disappoint! We went there this weekend and this really nice lady made us breakfast for $7 a each. I think it's family owned. It was so...good. I got machaca and eggs and my husband got a carne asada burrito he said was awesome. Little Mexican market with all the good stuff you need, fresh pastries, fresh tortillas and some really good salsa. Will definitely be back!

Terrible meat quality. Absolutely no marbling, or taste. Irony flavor & tuff. Would not recommend.

Ok, the food is amazing. But, I was confused as heck trying to figure out how to order, what I could order, what I should do after I order, should we leave the trays on the table for pickup, or do they pick it up for you? Kids sleeping on the benches, Mexican music blaring off the television, overall disheveled, tackiness of the place would scare most Taco Bell enthusiasts away, but not this amigo. No, I braved it all for some of the finest Mexican food I have ever had, besides my mother's.

I had 5 tacos made to-go and menudo. Everything was really good. I enjoyed the menudo so much. The meat is visible in a hot case, and the barbecue was still hot and out front when we arrived. Theres a few tables to eat at. The chicken looked really good, I'll be back.
