This is a teeny tiny shop. A couple of grocery aisles, a selection of baked items (we were there for bolillo), and a meat counter. Our first visit the hot food counter was not yet open. The bollilo was very good. Basic, but good. Fresh. We returned sometime later (several weeks) for lunch. I deliberately held off reviewing this until we did lunch since I figured commenting on a bollilo by itself wasn't very useful. The lunch selection is somewhat limited. But more choices are shown on their price list than are displayed in their steamer trays. If you read their small list you'll notice "burro", which is not displayed. We ordered carnitas burritos with rice. I think they misunderstood and gave us carne asada, but that's fine. I didn't see that on their list, but that appears to be exactly what I got. They prepared them fresh. It was probably ten minutes before they were ready. Very traditional, no "enchilada style" or anything. Beef and rice wrapped in a tortilla with a half a lime on the side. The flavor was traditional also. Simple but good. Squeezing the lime added a really nice citrus flavor that blended really well. There are three tables, so it is possible you could arrive and have no place to sit. But it wasn't too busy when we visited. One group of four on one table, and a single on another. We had the last table. If you want a drink you walk over to the refrigerator case and grab one. When you're done you go to the register with your styro boxes (they write the price on the lid) and your bottles/cans from the fridge, and you pay the man. Prices were quite reasonable. Comparable to other small burro shops you find in Phoenix. Cheaper than Cafe Rio or Chipotle, and much more authentic.I think we'll be back.

We've found our source for carne ranchera! They even add their own marinade upon request. We only bought the meat but it looked like they were selling cooked food and were making pastries. The entire vicinity smelled of fried pork and panaderia, even in the parking. It was truly a wonderful experience. Note that it's next to a used tire shop. But we didn't mind. Support our local small businesses.

The best marinaded skirt steak and pollo Asada around ! This is my go to for both. Gave it only 4 stars because I saw the health violations and those definitely need to be taken into consideration but overall great meat, friendly employees, and great service.

Their chicken is the best! We live on the opposite side of town and will make the half hour drive just to get some. Love it!

Went here based on a friend's recommendation for their pollo and carne asada. Unfortunately, when I got there they were almost out of pollo and the few pieces they had left looked dry and pretty gross actually (like the meat was being kept cold). The carne looked decent so I got 2 pounds of it. Knowing that I'd have to make another stop (since they didn't have pollo I'd be going to Food City where I normally get all my asada), I asked the guy to put the bag of carne in another bag of ice to keep it cold in the car (it's like 110 degrees outside).Get home to find out he put the ice IN the bag with the meat... which means the meat got all watered down and as I dumped the water out, I was also dumping out all the seasoning. How could he have possibly thought that was a good idea??We'll be grilling up the meat this weekend so the verdict is out how good it will be, but for $6.50/lb I can't imagine that this watered down season-less carne asada will be comparable at all to the carne from Food City. Do yourself a favor, if in the area for some good carne or pollo asado, go a mile down the road to Food City on Arizona Ave.

On top of the integrity of their staff I was amazed, when I visited for the 2nd time the store 20 minutes later inquiring if anyone hass seen my wallet , when all of a sudden a wonderful lady holding a baby, while trying to corral 2 more, yelled at me from the door, asking me if I had lost a wallet so ,their clientele is amazingly honest as I had the opportunity to witness this miraculous soul shaking act. Great chicharrones by the way !
