A few years ago, my husband and I traveled from Pittsburgh to the Scottsdale area. After spending the morning visiting Taliesin West we were on the hunt for a spot to grab some quick lunch. I google searched restaurants in the area and stumbled across Blue Adobe. It had a decent amount of good reviews and a delicious looking menu. So we went for it. And just this last April, we visited Arizona again and made definite plans to visit Blue Adobe once again. This review is a combination of both visits. Blue Adobe is inviting right from the get-go. The outside and patio area are adorably landscaped and brightly lit with an abundance of blue, Christmas-like lights. Upon entering, you'll notice that the décor has a definite southwest vibe without being conventional or tacky. Our server approached promptly and inquired if we had ever visited Blue Adobe (no, then yes). Our first visit, the server drew attention to the fact that the menu had two designated profiles. The first, traditional Mexican and New Mexican fare, while the other section was Southwest cuisine. They also highlighted the extensive Margarita menu and offered recommendations. While my husband chose a soft drink, I opted for a flight of varying margarita flavors. Upon delivery of our beverages, we received a basket of chips and a bowl of salsa. This salsa looked a tad unique and clearly has an ingredient that I couldn't pinpoint right away. It was my mom that pegged it. Black beans! Maybe the best salsa I have ever had, and I don't particularly love black beans. So far so good! For a small app we ordered the "Four Corners" Bean Dip. I literally thought at my husband and I were going to fistfight over who got the last few bites. It was SO good! It's a must order.... even if you just planned on cocktails. Entrees is where it gets difficult. How do you choose just one? How? Our first visit I chose the a chimichanga. Admittedly, I was playing it safe and love a good chimichanga... and this was the best. It was everything a chimichanga should be. Super airy and crispy on the outside without being overly greasy. I ate the entire thing and that never happens! However, on our second visit, I went for it. I chose the Santa Fe Bay which is described as follows: Ancho Seared Halibut topped with Jalapeno Hollandaise side by side with a Red Chile Shrimp Enchilada. Sautéed Vegetables and Rice. And I simply cannot describe how amazing this truly is. The halibut was prepared perfectly. The halibut was well seasoned with a spicy blend of seasoning and lightly seared for that perfect crisp exterior. The jalapeno hollandaise was incredibly creamy and had the right amount of heat when paired with the spicy exterior of the halibut. There rice is to die for and then the veggies... It's always so hard to prepare sautéed vegetables correctly. They always seem to be under seasoned and either too hard or too mushy. These were tasty and were the ideal balance of firm and soft. We finished with dessert. A crunchy, chewy cookie concoction topped with ice-cream, whipped cream, and strawberries. I. ATE. SO. MUCH. But no regrets. Not one. Summarization: Fun relaxed atmosphereGreat patioUnique scratch-made margsDelicious menuAmazing service

We had a group of 8 for Friday night. Showed up early and our table was ready for us. Jenny H did a wonderful job of going over the variety of choices on the menu and sharing some of her favs. She and the team provided outstanding service throughout our meal. Lots of variety on the menu, we all enjoyed our pics. The portion sizes were pretty big and tasteful. Thanks Jenny for wrapping up our to-go stuff!

Horrible owner. She is so rude. I have never had someone talk to customers the way she spoke to us. So condescending and disrespectful forNo reason. I will keep writing terrible reviews on her! What a terrible way to treat paying customers. You need to take some classes on hospitality! And I loved this place never ever coming back! I meet all sorts of peopleComing into Arizona and always suggested this place. I will never recommend.

We arrived on 2-17-18 about 4pm for an early dinner. There were about 4 tables with diners. We waited for quite a while waiting to be seated. We were finally able to get the attention of a young woman at the bar who had seen us walk in. She seated us and brought drinks. That's the last time we had contact with an employee. A waiter walked by several times by we could not get his attention. We waited for approximately 30 minutes and finally decided to leave.

Love this place!! Fantastic atypical Mexican food made with fresh ingredients and incredible flavor. My favorites are the stacked enchiladas and the chimichilada with mushroom enchilada and amaretto cream sauce. They do great steaks and their in-house salsa is absolutely the best! Staff is fantastic and they have live music a couple nights per week. Highly recommend
