Have been a frequent customer of Bertha's Cafe for many years and cannot recommend it highly enough! Quality food, generous portions and a free yummy cookie with lunch orders! Personable service with aim to please. Easy to tell they specialize in building relationships with their guests and want to see you again! Coffee is delish and so are the pastries ... watch out for your waistline. Super convenient location for Camelback corridor delivery or catering. Very fast service for dine-in lunches and smooth process for online ordering with choices of curb-side pick up or in-store pick up. Give it a try! It's my go-to and likely to become yours! See ya there!

Bertha's has new ownership (I think since 2022) and it has steadily gone downhill. The cookies that come with your sandwiches are routinely stale or taste so strange I have actually spit them out. Some of the best menu items are now gone as well. Today I decided to try again--they are closed, but still happily accepting orders online. So after you pay and show up to pick up your food--you'll find that they closed and forgot to turn off their website ordering. Yes, the order was placed directly with them. I really loved this place when Beth Goldwater owned it. I think it's over. The magic is gone.

Haven't been here in a very long time...my job location moved to another part of the city so Bertha's a bit further away.My team came for a birthday celebration/team meeting. We got there right when they opened and secured the bigger table toward the back. It was breakfast time but I've had their tuna in the past (as you see from previous posts) so I had the tuna melt for breakfast. We laughed because I was having lunch for breakfast, buy why not? You eat breakfast for dinner! Also had their steak fries, which are amazing! Fried to just the right degree of crispy and tossed in some seasoning.Their tuna is so good for "restaurant" tuna...mixed with apples (I know, it sounds different) which gives the tuna a great, slightly sweet crunch. Such a great sandwich! I didn't get pictures this time, too many people, too much going on but suffice to say, Bertha's has great quality food, freshly prepared. They have a great lunch menu, a smaller breakfast menu (a couple of my group got the breakfast burrito, which got rave reviews as well. I also had the cold brew, which was made perfectly. As we were leaving, the gentleman at the counter realized it was my birthday and offered me a cookie, which was very nice! They make awesome cookies! Love Bertha's!

Perfect spot for a quality hearty breakfast and a decent latte! The guy behind the counter was great too. He says he didn't squeeze the OJ, but someone certainly did because it was delicious!

Had a business meeting here and it was perfect. Quiet, plenty of room and the sandwich was good and basic. Next time will branch out and order something bigger and interesting.

I still stop by Bertha's when I'm in the area but it's under new ownership now so my beloved turkey sandwich isn't as good as it used to be. The turkey that they used to roast in-house with rosemary now tastes more like ordinary turkey lunch meat. The bacon now tends to have a lot of fat on it and they're not as liberal with the pesto mayo. On a final sad note, the complimentary chocolate cookie isn't the same: it's now dry and chalky. I'll keep my review at four stars for now, as the sandwich is still better than many, but they're going the wrong direction.

We're all too familiar with the Over Easy's and Hash Kitchens of the world, and while great, we expect them to be. Their ubiquitous nature, while not entirely fair to them, makes one take them for granted. That being said, maybe the scorn isn't entirely unearned, as the bigger a chain is, the less of a personal touch they potentially have. To that end, I'm more than a little fortunate to have found perhaps Phoenix's best kept breakfast secret, Bertha's Cafe!Bertha's has been here right under many of our unsuspecting noses for the better part of 20 years, surviving all the shenanigans of the aught years and more recently Covid. Bertha herself built up quite the reputation for the restaurant focusing on a customer forward and quality ingredient laden home cooking approach coupled with reasonable prices, and impeachable cooking expertise. My brother Steve and I, stumbled upon it doing a Google search upon finding out that they shuddered the doors of the Over Easy on Camelback and 24th St. of alternate breakfast spots. After agreeing to try it, and not expecting much, we were immediately and warmly greeted by Mary, whose family now owns the place after purchasing it from Bertha after she tapped out to enjoy other endeavors. Many folks would start casting side eyes after a sea change of management, but I'm happy to say the reputation that was built carries over into the new ownership through a redoubling down on all the core values that Bertha painstakingly implemented. Mary suggested the Chorizo burrito. Being no stranger to this at other places, I was pleasantly surprised by how refreshingly different in the best possible way, this one was, exuding such delicious flavor with it's perfect marriage of Chorizo, cheese and potatoes. Paired with a zesty but not overly spicy Salsa, you'll wonder where it went, you'll eat it so fast. With a large breakfast and lunch menu and a veritable goldmine of heavenly pastries, brownie and other dream bars, this diamond in the crowded breakfast rough is just begging to have it's untold treasures discovered by Phoenicians and weary tourists alike. So that hard earned cash you were going to give to the major breakfast chains? You would do very well to hand it to this hard working and well deserving family instead, whose sole purpose is to reacquaint you with homemade food prepared with that which is missing from the faceless giants. Care, comfort and quality customer service. All the staff is amazing, from the rarely seen, but hardest working cooks led by Joanna and James, to the front of house with our lovely hostess Mary and the dashing Douglas, who both welcome guests with the warmest of wishes and the biggest of smiles. Try Bertha's today. Arlen approved. 10/10

I've been coming here for years. Not as much as I like to but it's definitely one of my favorite spots in Phoenix. Douglas is fantastic. Great service. Always in a great mood and he just makes you happy to be there. Definitely check out their veggie panini it's to die for.

Today, the Kailua High School Phoenix Area Lunch Bunch enjoyed ONO GRINDS at Bertha's Cafe, 3134 E. Indian School Rd, Phoenix. Our hosts, Sophyra and Kelly Sokhan (owners), set up a special table for the group, provided excellent food, and as you can see, a special dessert tray!Bertha's Cafe is family-owned and operated. It shows in their level of service and in ensuring their guests are happy - and full - when they leave.Thank you Sophyra and Kelly! You can count on us returning in the future.
