Had a meeting in Mesa today and stopped by this cute little cafe on my way home that's conveniently located in the heart of downtown Mesa, just steps from the light rail. The cafe resembles a mini market with a walk-up counter for ordering. When I first walked in, the owner greeted me from the counter, very nice guy. I was surprised to take a look at the menu and find a large variety of menu offerings, including a whole gluten-free menu. Happy to find a small family-owned and operated restaurant with great food that also serves breakfast ALL-DAY. I ordered the French Toast, eggs & a coffee; food and service was great! 'll definitely be going back with my family to try their lunch menu sometime!

Stopped in on Sunday to try something different. I know it's gluten free, however I have had many gluten free items that I have made myself and they still had flavor and tasted good. This was not the case here. We ordered a hot ham and cheese sandwich, soft pretzel with cheese dip and fish and chips. Absolutely bland. The pretzel was not baked all of the way. The cheese dip was bland. The hot ham and cheese had two slices of ham for the whole thing. Overpriced and no flavor. Not worth the money or time.Inside it is family friendly and games.Front customer service was good but the person who brought you the food dropped the plates literally on the table and not friendly.

Hands down my new go-to for GF food. I developed an extremely bad gluten allergy years back and when I moved here, it seemed like there weren't many options. Pizza, pasta or a sandwich with crumbly bread. When I stumbled upon this place on Yelp, I think I may have ordered half the menu, I just got so excited. They have actual pretzels, that taste the same as the ones I was able to eat before my allergy. I never got to try loaded fries until today and it's maybe the most amazing thing I've ever eaten.I cannot recommend this place enough for GF people & Celiacs. You will not be disappointed at all. Also, the employees were SO kind. I happened to find them kinda late when they were going to close and they stayed opened until I got there and brought me the food out. Probably the kindest service I've received in a while!

Yay, an awesome gluten-free restaurant in Downtown Mesa! Against the Grain offers a variety of options... so whether you're craving some tasty cookies... or brownies or Orange Chicken over rice... or just looking to buy the ingredients to make your own gluten-free dishes at home, you're covered! The Orange Chicken is very good... although next time I would order it with less sauce. That's just my preference. The breaded chicken and flavor of the sauce were both excellent! I also ordered a Chicken Egg Roll. It had been forever since I've had an egg roll... and it makes me so happy that I can come here and enjoy egg rolls again! Very good!Prices are reasonable for all the foods and baked goods... and service is excellent!Overall rating:*****FIVE STARS*****Gluten-free rating:*****FIVE STARS*****

Our experience was not the best. We walked in as we were intrigued by the door and the idea of the food being gluten free. The lighting was dim and the inside felt dingy. The food was dripping in grease. Management was really cool about it and did refund the meal. The chances of us going back are slim.

I have all the intentions of going through the menu, but darn it, I keep ordering the orange chicken with rice -- because well, it's the bomb! It's not as cheap as the one you would get at the local american-chinese fast food, but it's a haven from the world of gluten.Pastries are good ( love the lemon loaf), and the banana pudding is just a delight.Service is friendly, they have comfortable sofa chairs while waiting for to-go orders.

Ordered online and was super excited to try gluten free food! The mozzarella sticks were great and the cinnamon bites, but the pasta tasted a bit average. Can't speak on the service or ambiance, but the food was alright!

Against The Grain 100% Gluten Free Restaurant,Bakery and small grocery located in DT Mesa. They have all kinds of gluten free grocery goodies to take home, a nice size restaurant menu and bakery items. Justin & Amanda are super sweet and even let me sample their homemade bread, which I kinda gave up on bread because gf bread just isn't it, BUT their bread was really good and you can buy a loaf, and also I sampled their mozzarella sticks. DELISH!! I'm so glad to have found another 100% GF place that I actually like. Also I purchased their orange chicken bowl- so good, already halfway thru eating it lol. And a banana pudding and pumpkin cupcake. Definitely worth checking out for sure!
