PHEN-OM-ENAL!!!The food at Mesa Urbana is OFF THE CHARTS. Every single dish we had was bursting with flavor. From the passionfruit in the shrimp ceviche to the tamarind glaze and mango and papaya with the Salmon, PHEN-OM-ENAL!On top of that, service is always on point and the ambience of the restaurant has a nice vibe to it as well. Will continue coming back here!

We made reservations for brunch. When we arrived, there was only another table being occupied. So you should be able to find a table no problem. If you're driving here, parking could also be a little challenging. Might have to park on Lincoln or Clark. Service was also great. Very friendly and food came out fast. The wife and I both ordered their Chilaquiles Verdes. A little pricey for the dish itself, but still tasty and beautifully presented. It came with crispy tortilla chips smothered in salsa verde, and then topped with queso fresco, sunny side eggs, epazote and pickled onions. The only other thing that I would suggest adding for what they're already charging is a couple of slices of avocado. It would really make this dish stand out more. They do offer meat additions to this dish that will make it anywhere from 24-28 depending on the meat. I'll be honest, I'm a meat guy, but for whatever reason don't like meat with my chilaquiles. I would not mind returning and ordering their chilaquiles and perhaps coming for dinner as well.

First off, service and atmosphere were great. It was not crowded at all for it being 6:45 on a Friday, and I think it is because the restaurant is a little hidden. We almost passed it. The house margaritas were great and so was the guacamole. The chips and salsa is not complimentary, and the salsa came out steaming hot? I've never had hot salsa before and cannot say I enjoyed it.

Really nice outdoor space and delicious food!We ordered the carne asada ($42) and the queso fundido ($19). Highly recommend both! The queso fundido is especially good value for the price because the dish is stuffed full of shrimp, and comes with 6 corn tortillas which you can make six shrimp + queso tacos with. Also the outdoor dining space is gorgeous in the warmer months! It is situated underneath a large beautiful tree. It is relatively easy to make a reservation during weekday dinners (except reserve a few days ahead for Friday night, which is more popular because they have live musicians playing in their outdoor dining space). I would definitely recommend this spot, especially for special occasions! One thing is, it is pretty pricey.. you can you can easily spend $40-$50 per person here after tax + tip.

5/5 stars for the food. 1/5 stars for the service. Rating 2 stars because service this bad leaves a more lasting impression than the good food.I'll start with the food - it was delicious. We got the guac, as well as the chips and salsa. The guac is served with veggies which actually go quite well. If you want chips, though, be sure to order the chips and salsa.I had the salmon and it was some of the best I've had. My friend had the carne asade and devoured it. I tasted it as well and it was really good. My other friend had the lamb and liked it.Drinks were good tasting and strong. The problem was with the service. It was some of the worst I've had so far in Chicago, and at the price point of this place, there is NO excuse for it.First of all, we waited 10 minutes to get water and for the server to come to us. There were only 4-5 tables inside occupied, most people were outside. But it was far from being packed. I had to ask another person working if we had a server. When he came to us, he didn't say hi or share his name. He just asked what we wanted. We get our apps and drinks pretty quickly. We finish our apps. The server has not checked on us. Someone comes to fill our water and I ask him to ask our server to come to us to take our order because we'd like to get our main dishes. We don't put in our food order until FORTY MINUTES since we originally sit down. Unacceptable. I think he knew that he didn't provide good service because he brought over free ice cream when we were getting our check. Nice of him but it didn't erase the poor service.Again, food was amazing, but I'm pretty disappointed with how poor our service was. Not sure if I'll give it another try given it is on the pricier end and so many great restaurants in Chicago to choose from.

Wow this place is a (bit of a) hidden gem!! Tucked away in a nondescript location off Lincoln Ave sits Mesa Urbana. Decorated with amazing artwork and filled with many people around 7:30pm on a Friday. The owner is so friendly and the staff is amazing. Not to mention the food. The margarita is a must order as well as the salmon. Everything we had was phenomenal. I'd love to come back for the brunch because this place is truly spectacular.

The salmon Al carbon and ginger pomegranate margarita were so good! I want to eat that salmon once a week! Skip the Paloma...I could not even finish it. The food and drink are good, but it is very pricey. I was not expecting to spend as much as I did.

Delicious drinks and food. Price point somewhat high for what it is which is why I am rating this restaurant 4 stars. Started with a ginger Pomegranate margarita - wonderful! Would definitely order that again. We shared a bunch of appetizers to start - all were good!- guacamole and chips ( good not memorable) - Brussel spouts ( very good) - tuna ( great !) We then shared some entrees:Skirt steak ( excellent) Ahí tuna ( very good )Also had side of corn ( very good) Great food to share small plate style in a pleasant atmosphere. Restaurant is tucked into a little quiet corner in east LP. Service was excellent. Portions run on the small side. Entrees in the low to mid 40'$ range seem overpriced to me. If they were in the $24-28 I would have given this place 5 stars

Went to Mesa Urbana last night for dinner on a double date and we all agreed this place was a 10/10. The space is big and easily accessible. The bar is separated which makes it easier to get a drink before getting seated without being on top of tables that are eating. We ordered about 6 of the small plates and they were all filled with so much flavor(our favorite was the mussels). The entres are great portions and can be shared if needed. The service at Mesa Urbana was good, everyone is very nice and if you need something there are many bus boys walking around to help you. Our server could have came by a few more times, but we managed. Definitely recommend anyone looking for good mexican food / tapas to try this place out!! Cocktails were also very well made.
