I took another step in my BBQ tour of Nashville by trying Whitt's. There are several locations around the city and today was the day I tried one. Most reviews seem to say it's the best eve or it isn't that good. I discovered it was more closer to best ever than bad.First of all, the building isn't much to look at. Don't let that scare you away. We'll, my wife did point out the dusty plant above our table and the dusty window ledge. But you didn't come here for that. You came here for the que!I had a little trouble navigating the menu since there was no 2 or 3 meat combo. The prices are pretty cheap though!I finally decided on a rib plate with mac and cheese and potato salad. I also got a pulled pork sandwich on cornbread. The ribs were tasty but what stood out about them is how easy they fell off the bone. Some of the end pieces were tough but for the most part, they were tender. The pulled pork sandwich on cornbread was brilliant. The cornbread kind of fell apart but the cornbread was possibly the best thing on my plate. Slaw, mayo, and pickles are options to come on the sandwich. Mayo on a BBQ sandwich is a Don't for me. But the slaw didn't have a lick of mayo on it so it was sort of understandable why there was mayo on it.Besides the cornbread, the potato salad was the next best food on my plate. It was creamy with a mild mustard taste. The mac and cheese was nothing special but alright. There are 3 sauces - sweet and mild tomato, hot, and vinegar. I felt like the vinegar sauce didn't add much to anything. But the hot was a medium level hot and the sweet were both superb.Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! My final assessment is there are better BBQ joints in Nashville. But for the value you get for pretty good BBQ, Whitt's is your place.

Very good BBQ, in a casual atmosphere that will convince you this is a single mom-and-pop restaurant when in fact they have 23 locations throughout Tennessee. They also have a drive-through, and offer takeout in addition to the option to dine in.The BBQ is very good, though the menu is somewhat limited. The pulled pork was full of flavor and the turkey was moist and tasty. Baked beans were very flavorful with a touch of sweet. Potato salad is classic "backyard style", which is my favorite. The sauces were very good, and I love a lot of sauce so I really appreciate that they have sauce on every table. The restaurant is very casual like so many great BBQ joints are. You order at the counter, and they'll have your food ready promptly. Casual but comfortable dining area that seems to encourage chatting with other diners.Give this place a try, and you'll see why so many locals are regulars here. It ain't fancy, but that's one of the best things about Whitt's (along with the food, of course).

Barbecue was delicious. Great deals. The cashier was friendly. It's in a place where you wouldn't think it to be a bbq joint. It reminds me of an 80s sandwich shop. But it didn't stop me from eating like a hungry hippo.

I pulled into the drive-thru at 2:55 on a Sunday. I was second in line. I pulled up to the drive thru window at 2:59 and the staff pulled a shade down right in front of my face.

Went in with family on a slow Monday evening, the food was readily prepared, looked nice, tasted even nicer and the service was excellent. Definitely recommend stopping here if you are in town and looking for a good bite.

Three stars for the BBQ and sides. But please either change your recipe for Brunswick stew or remove it from the menu. Its inedible. Tastes like straight, thick tomato sauce out if a can and sugar, next to no pork and vegetables. Waaaay too sweet and acidic. Had to throw away 2 large containers, very disappointed

The management has been great working with when I was feeding the Page High Drama department. The kids loved the barbecue! I will definetly be ordering from Whitt's Barbecue again!

Really, really bad pulled pork. About half of it had a mushy texture/consistency. I was starving but it was so bad that I could only eat a few bites of it. Tasted like it was microwaved. Fries were obviously very old and should not have been served, either. Atmosphere is worse than McDonald's.The restaurant was completely empty at 1pm on a Monday and only a few cars came through the drive-thru over a 30 minute period. Makes no sense that this place is 4+ stars. Something isn't right. The only good things I can say about this place is the girl who took my order was nice and my Coke wasn't flat.

Getting in my car after buying some new tires (next door) and I saw Whitt's. I thought, what a great alternative to the fast food chicken place next door (I've heard is not good for you). Just kept it simple; three pork sandwiches w/ pickle and slaw. Bringing them home and knocking them down, my wife and I both said this is better than the three big BQ joints in the area. The pork was tender and moist, slaw not too tart, and sweet pickles.Oh, and the cost was much less than a chicken sandy next door. I was pleased and plan to visit more often. I've been in Franklin for five years and tried several of the others in the area.
