Wang's Mandarin House

Why do we always forget to review our regular spots? Wangs is a staple in this area for consistently hot fresh and delicious Chinese food. My go to items are the spring rolls and egg rolls, lo mein, fried rice, and of course the chicken wangs! This time, I decided to try the general tso's chicken and what a treat! Will this food blow your mind? Probably not, but it's locally owned and darn good.

Since moving from Nashville, we have been craving a Chinese takeout spot that could rival China Spring. I think this spot definitely could fill that role. Egg drop soup, chicken and fried rice dishes were all delicious. It seemed a bit pricey until we open the box and realized it was enough food for 3 meals. Memphis lacks plain old Chinese takeout, so I was very happy to find this spot!

Lady was nice. Food was delicious and very cheap. The ribs and fried rice combo was less than $10. Eggs drop soup was only $1.90 crab Rangoon was Less than $6.

BEST FRIED DUMPLINGS!I still love this place and drop by for their dumplings whenever I'm in the area. They taste like nothing I've ever had before. I love mixing two things of the dumpling sauce along with the spicy sauce they put on the tables. My husband isn't fond of the consistency of the dough but I freaking love them. Their spring rolls are also yummy. I highly enjoyed their Red Ginger Chicken, Chicken with Sizzling Crisp Rice, and Curry Chicken. Their Egg Drop Soup doesn't have that icky aftertaste that you get at cheaper places so that's a plus, but it doesn't taste that great with the thingies added in (I cannot remember the name of it right now)I finally tried the Dragon and Phoenix and it was just meh. The shrimp was good but there wasn't as much as I would've liked. But the breading on the chicken was too much for me and I just wouldn't get that again. I really wanted to like this place and in fact the first time I ordered here using GrubHub I was pleased. I ordered from here 2 more times and it kept getting progressively worse. My last time (and final time) ordering here was not good. They use extremely cheap packaging (or they just haven't figure a good way to pack items) which cannot hold up when being transported. Sauce container busted and leaked all over the bag. And to make matters worse the fried rice had way too much oil/grease (my stomach hurt afterwards and I couldn't eat all of it) and as I was eating my shrimp entree I noticed a piece of plastic in my mouth Unfortunately I won't be eating here again.

A Memphis State area go-to!I have NO IDEA the number of to-go orders & deliveries I've had from Wangs on Highland. No, this is NOT the fancy restaurant to impress a date. In fact, they haven't had dine-in since the pandemic. It's all to-go & delivery ... but every single time my orders are HOT & FRESH & very FLAVORFUL ... & FAST!!! Incredibly Fast -even their deliveries! The family is a delight to talk to -but it's difficult with all the calls they take.I've seen their prices go up -from surprisingly cheap (great for UM students) to "reasonable" (with current inflation.) Our very frequent orders:+Egg Rolls (always hot & crisp)+Crab Rangoons (perfect!)+General Tso's Chicken (never spicy enough, but flavorful!)+Wonton Soup (Note: My only complaint is that it can be inconsistent -sometimes slightly weak/watery, sometimes salty. But remember, I've had countless gallons of their soup over the years & it's still a staple when I order!) +Mei Fun Noodles+Cashew Chicken +Sesame Chicken+Veggie Lo MeinOH, & I absolutely MUST get several of their homemade HOT PEPPER OIL & HOT MUSTURD (now 50 cents ea. -sad face emoji).If you're a hot-head -order one of these & you'll thank me later!

Food was great service was fast sesame chicken fried rice good and hot service was excellent fast and friendly ambience nice had takeout

Just ordered this on doordash and needed to review. Sesame chicken was crispy and delicious. Lo mein also had great flavor and was real saucy

Starving. Needed to dine NOW. So, we ordered from Wang's Mandarin, just up Highland Street from us. We splurged a bit, got at least one dish more than we should have. (Eyes bigger than our tummies!) The online ordering system...less than brilliant, but much better than some.Dinner was rushed to us--earlier, in fact, than the advertised time--by a gentleman clearly of the restaurant staff, not some DoorDash-y guy.A small but important thing: All packages were closed tightly, no spillage whatever. And all of it hot--no need to nuke.FLAVOUR CITY, boys and girls! Sumptuous meats, scrumptious vegetables. Lotsa steamed rice.GOOD sauces.I'd rather have stringy crispy noodles for chow mein, but their shorter, broader noodles work okay.We had a GREAT dinner...and another great dinner the next night, with all the leftovers keeping well in the fridge.As to ambiance, Wang's Highland has none (unlike the fine ambiance at Wang's on Park). But, then, we'd decided to dine at home.Rarely does takeout or delivery food from a given restaurant equal their in-house quality. But this time...GREAT.We have Wang's Highland on speed dial now!

Great, cheap, friendly. Be patient with an occasional language barrier and all is good.
