Vanelli's Deli

So good! They make a great muffaletta, and everything else I've tried has been delicious. Pasta salad is yummy. The place is on the smaller side, and gets a little busy, so I try to eat and scoot so they can turn the table. There is outside seating, but it's still a little chilly right now. I look forward to that when it warms up.

My husband and I were finally able to check this place out. I'm from Brooklyn, NY, so when I asked locally where to go to get a good deli sub, everyone said Vanellis, so I was very excited. The quality of cold cuts is good, but the amount of filling (meat, cheese and veg) to bread is crazy. The bread is probably the best bread we have had in Memphis when it comes to subs, however, it was nothing like the bread back in NY or like any actual Italian bread I've ever had. It's more so a very soft type bread. None of that crunchy outer layer with a soft and pillowy inside that makes us all love deli subs so much up North. If you're looking for a good place for cold cuts, this is one of them. However, you'll be better off just going to Kroger for Boars Head because the prices here are $15-20 per LB for meats and I believe $9-10 per LB for cheeses. Overall, the subs were fine. Nothing special. Definitely not what I expected when being told this was like the deli subs we grew up eating. If you're from up north and are looking for a hero or roll like back home, keep looking. This isn't it.

This one is on our "local finds" list. This deli is in the same plaza as the excellent "East Meets West" resto. We were going to go there but decided to check this one out instead.And we were glad we did because they make tasty sandos. We enjoyed the cold one more than we did the meatball version. But both hit the spot.We gotta go back soon...

Nice little Italian deli. Pretty authentic...I had to look up what some items were! The staff was friendly and helpful with just a touch of impatience for those of us with questions. I got the Ami. It was tasty. They had a fun selection of chips with some unusual flavors I hadn't seen before. We enjoyed that. The place was very busy.

Great deli!!! Popped in for lunch and we were definitely happy with that decision. There is some inside seating and some outside seating, not a lot of either though so it's possible you could end up there with no place to sit but we had a few places from which to choose so, clean living I guess. There were a few people ahead of us in line but the line moved pretty quickly. Employees were friendly and able to answer questions we had. We got an Ami, a spicy roast beef, an Italian sausage grandmama style, and a club. The sandwiches were all very good and there was a good selection of chips as well. I'll definitely come back here to try some more of the menu items.

We tried the American Hoagie and whatever Italian Sub is #2 on their menus. Both were great the service was also good. If there were any take aways that may be negative was that it was a little cramped, but that's what I expect from a traditional style Italian deli. I wouldn't hesitate to go back and the bread used was flawless. Good stuff, I'll be going back.

Have been a fan ever since I've ever been here years ago. Typical family owned and run restaurant. Food is excellent; meats are either from the hill in St Louis or from Italy. Bread is homemade and outstanding. PI is my favorite sandwich. Have never been disappointed.

Just a nice, a-ok sandwich place. The workers are really friendly and are happy to help people out. I've never been so they recommended me their most popular sub and said usually people work their way down the list as they return. Unfortunately, I'm not a big sandwich person so I can't see myself coming back. Again, friendly service, but the food was just ok. Ok: - Sandwich: #1 The 'AmiDisliked: - Dessert: Cannoli

Stopped by for lunch. Amazing that after living in Germantown for ages first time we came in for a meal. They have a fantastic selection of sandwiches. The ambiance is pleasant and the staff is very friendly. The service is great. We will be visiting more often going forward. Also, the parking is convenient!! This is like a well kept secret in the fantastic Germantown community

The worst pastrami sandwich I have ever had. In fact to call this a pastrami sandwich is a sin. It looks like a bad Arby's roast beef sandwich
