Mary Tuthill has one heck of a store! I have been trying to pop by here for literally YEARS, but always seem to drive by too early or on a Monday/Tuesday. But this morning when I was picking up the Yelpies photos from Jamie at America...THEY WERE OPEN!!!!Now, for those of you who know me or read any of my reviews, you know I am an antiques freak. I love anything and everything vintage so this place is a goldmine! Definitely my new favorite store in town. I could spend HOURS here. I was in a bit of a time crunch and I had to buy something (it would literally pain me to NOT buy at least one lil thing), so I picked up a kitschy gold horse clock for $75 from the '50s. It is now proudly displayed in my entrance hall and I'm obsessed. Oh, and if you want, jewelry. Honey, go here. There are displays for daaaaays!

Have a friend that appreciates 'the finer things' from years past? Do you love the idea of Estate sales, but loathe plowing through fifty years of someone else's detritus for that one gem?Tut-Uncommon may be the store for you. There are cases of rings, ear rings, necklaces, brooches, pendants and for the guys: cuff links, tie clips, tie tacks and the like.If you know (or are) a girl into vintage (real & costume) jewelry, you'll definitely want to drop in.Just a couple of doors down from Shangri-La records, and across the street from the original Huey's.

Tut-Uncommon has moved to Cleveland Ave, across the street from the old Sears building. You can enter Tut on the back side of the flea market shops, or just wind through the flea market shops and end up in Tut. I always love the collections that they put together there in her shop. I can always find something unique that I never thought that I needed, "until I see it". Especially her collection of sterling silver collectibles, like sewing tools, etc. You will see, it is just a fun spot.

This shop has set the standard in Memphis for decades! Mary carries a full range of vintage and antique jewelry and a huge selection of accessories. In addition, you never know what you are going to find in the way of vintage furniture, home decor, glass, pottery, and other delights too numerous to list. This is a great place to shop for gifts-you know that whatever you select, the person you're shopping for won't receive anything else like it.

I collect antique cufflinks and stopped by here based on David M.'s review. If you're at all interested in men's or women's jewelry, Tut-Uncommon (pronounced like the pharaoh, I assume...I'll be honest - it went over my head at first) is an absolute must-see. The jewelry they had in the floor cases was impressive enough, until - noticing that I was looking at cufflinks - one of the women working there showed me to a massive drawer that was itself stocked with twice the floor inventory. Prices ranged from around $15 to over $100, and were reasonable for the most part. I'd never seen such an amassment of Swank, Anson, etc. in a retail store in my life, and this has been a hobby of mine for some time. One update - it is no longer on Madison. It's now in a small shopping center on Watkins, near the intersection of Poplar and Cleveland. It's not a very big place, so keep an eye out.

This was a great shop, I came across this store when I was on my way to get my armadillo surgery. :) He's dead now but that's okay rip. Anyways, I got a doll while I was here. I thought it was the cutest thing, it's made of porcelain and talks even without a battery. Ever since I got her really freaky things have started to happen like, I was really shocked. My TV has been turning on and off and my power randomly turns on in the middle of the night. Weirdest thing is that I went to check on my Armadillo and there was a knife inside of his crib with blood on it. The doll was perched up on the side of his bed with a creepy smile on her face and blood all over her hands. I don't know what happened! Maybe the Armadillo got his first period? But all in all it was a great store thank you. :)
