Slow service. We asked for no mushrooms due to a food allergy. They brought out the food with mushrooms and then said "well it's only a little". They laughed at our inability to consume the food.

I love the food, mainly because it's the only Japanese within 30 minutes. I usually get the Hibachi Chicken and Steak, Fried Superman Roll, and a Philadelphia Roll. The Philly Roll is always great, but the other is a hit or miss. The service is usually slow, but it seems that they are under staffed. Onion soup is always hot and fresh.

This is the second restaurant of this kind to open this month. They are almost identical, from the menus to the interior decor and even the friendliest of waitstaff. Based on what items my husband and I eat at these two restaurants the value is a little better here. Our choices costs $1.00 less and they come with soup and salad, whereas Yamato just offers the entree with no extras. http://www.yelp.com/biz/yamato-steak-house-of-japan-corinthOne deciding factor as to which restaurant will be the most popular, in our opinion, will be their ability to maintain high quality. Of course, Tokyo will see a higher volume of traffic due to their location in a shopping center near the Walmart Supercenter and movie theater, but to me success means repeat customers. If the quality isn't there I do not go back at all, or I take a break from the place for a few months and let them have a chance to regroup. The main differences between these two, practically mirror image restaurants, are the number of dishes offered and the taste of the onion soup and the miso soup. Yamato only offers the two soups, whereas Tokyo offers seven flavors. The soup base at Yamato is the same so it doesn't matter which soup you order...both tastes the same. Beef lovers, such as my husband, will have much more to choose from here at Tokyo, with upward of 30 variations to pick from. You can eat here everyday for 2 1/2 weeks and have nothing but tempura options, with at least 14 of them being shrimp. The New China Buffet has been the place to go for sushi and stir-fry foods for the past decade, but with this new blood and competition they are adding a hibachi buffet area to their restaurant and it will be functioning within a week (end of Dec and there aren't any details yet as far as price and availability). http://www.yelp.com/biz/new-china-buffet-corinthThe hibachi salmon entree was my first choice for the grand opening visit to Tokyo and was not disappointed in the least. It is served with fried rice, vegetables, soup and a salad. My husband chose to try the NY Strip hibachi entree served with the same options. I don't know what their secret is to obtaining such tender steak but it is better than most steak houses and definitely better than almost any steak sold in this town. Let's see if it is just as good tomorrow.

Three strikes and this place is out. I'll never waste my money here again. First time the tempura roll batter tasted like it had been fried in old old oil and just bad, second time the fish in my Nigiri sushi tasted ruined and I spit it out and didn't eat any of it. Third time a roll tasted like it had been fried in old soap or they spilled dish washing detergent on it and it was soggy. Maybe their other food is good but their sushi is 3 out of 3 times just plain almost nasty. I was torn between 1 star and 2 but felt generous. Don't waste your time and money on this sushi. I know I never will again and that's a shame since I love sushi so much and there's nowhere else to get it in Corinth. Guess I'll drive to Tupelo next time I'm craving it that bad.

I have mixed feelings about this establishment. When they first opened, the service was amazing! I took my little boy there every weekend. We were always greeted with a warm smile by Ashley, the most amazing waitress ever! Ashley would suggest things when we were confused and help us make better selections! About a month ago, we arrived on a Friday night and as we walked in, I asked a male employee if Ashley was there to be our waitress and he stops, pauses, thinks for about 30 seconds and then says "Ashley my girlfriend" and then looks me up and down with an angry face. I overlooked his attitude and another young lady seated us. The waitress was cold and had no personality. She got my son's order wrong and I asked her "light on the ice" in my drink and it was packed full of ice from top to bottom. She rushed us and offered no suggestions. This really made us miss Ashley even more. My son and I went back tonight at 7:30 PM to eat after going to a movie. My son asked if Ashley still worked there and we were quickly informed "no". Again, we were forced to be waited on by this 4, 9" angry girl who treated us like we were there to evict her from her apartment. Her attitude is the worst I have ever experienced. After being seated we told her we were waiting for one more person and she gave us a strange look and bolted away. She did not return for 15 minutes and never once made eye contact with me. Because of this unprofessional waitress, we will not be returning to Tokyo. I have always spent more than $50 each visit. If you read this Ashley, we miss you...where are you? We want you to be our waitress!!!Signed, Disappointed

I got a to go order from Tokyo Asian fusion and when I first opened the bag and the container the food was in. It smelled like ruined food. Then I tasted it, the taste was awful. I won't eat here again. Do not recommend.

I've loved to eat at Tokyo for a LONG time and the food has, at least in the past, been very good. However, I'm becoming disenchanted with it and have been going there less and less, even though the food is far better than the other sushi establishment in town. Though the food isn't as good as it once was, that is not why I will continue to decrease my visits there. The service is absolutely atrocious. There are usually about three waitresses in there and they always - ALWAYS - have their kids in there with them. The kids are distracting, to say the least, and they render the waitresses practically useless. We were in there today and were the ONLY people in the whole place. It was taking forever and I looked up to the area where the chefs put the food to be picked up and taken to the table and our food was sitting there. It sat... and sat... and sat... and our waitress was at the front register playing with a kid on a phone. She FINALLY got up and brought it over to us. She smiled and was pleasant but she was clearly more interested in almost anything else than doing her job. The food is not good enough to sit through this kind of shoddy service. Like someone else said, if I'm really craving sushi, I'll drive to Tupelo or Memphis. Sad that something that could really be an asset in Corinth is so poorly and unprofessionally run.

I give this two stars 'cause my wife and daughters think their sushi is great. I don't know - I don't eat BAIT. Period. But I went in thinking they couldn't mess up some Hibachi. Ordered the lunch Jumbo Shrimp Hibachi. Broccoli? BROWN. Not cooked brown - just like old? brown.Vegetable temperature? Lukewarm.Jumbo shrimp? Not. Decent flavor (from sauce) but pretty chewy and not "jumbo" (I eat jumbos on the gulf coast a lot - those ain't jumbo).Fried rice? Dry. Hmmm.Gonna be hard to try this place again.
