They have reasonable service and food! However I haven't been there that much! They do have a good business in the mornings !

I was in town to do cell tower auditing/maintenance, and while I was at a nearby gas station, the irresistible smell of BBQ lured me in, and I Googled the most likely location and came here.I guess I picked the wrong time to interrupt the slacker of a waitress from doing a whole lot of nothing; I felt unwelcome and a burden the whole time I was there, and with business being stagnant around dinner hour, it was already a bad sign, but I was hungry... She was discreetly trying to persuade me to order to-go, and you can tell she wasn't happy when I said that I wanted to dine in; I don't foresee being able to eat a plate of food in a rental car, and my hotel is more than an hour away so I can't eat in my room (although in hindsight, throwing it on the kitchenette's stove probably would've made it tastier).I've always been told that Southerners take their barbecue very seriously and is slated to be among the best in the nation, but even though I'm a Northerner and haven't grilled anything in a while, I bet you $10 I could make a better barbecue than this place! The brisket didn't seem like it even touched a grill; the outer edges of the meat seemed like it was oven-cooked and given a touch of Liquid Smoke and merely called "barbecue"... The meat seemed like it was overcooked and chewy even for brisket standards, and with such thick slices, it's almost laughable that I was expected to eat this with plastic silverware, and I had to use my pocket knife just to finish it... Also as you can see in my pic, note the way the check was put there to save herself the trouble of doing her job and giving it when asked; boy, do I feel welcome. Also, isn't Alabama a tipped wage state? Way to get more take home pay! Also, the baked beans seemed like it was canned; there was no semblance of original flavor!

Todd's is amazing. Helen, the owner is so friendly and nice. The staff has always been great and the food is really good. The loaded fries are a favorite and so is the brisket. They make great steaks and the lunch plates are so good.

Haven't had anything from here in a while. I wasn't impressed the first go around, but we were hungry and it is across the road from the service station. So, we went. The waitress was very nice, took our order and gave us a time to come back for our food. I can't say enough about how good it was. My burger was so big I had to eat it with a fork, it was so good!!! My daughters had chicken bites and a hamburger streak with tots and baked beans. The whole meal was great! The beans could have used a little more seasoning but in all it was very good. The only thing that bothered me was while we were waiting for our order, one of the girls working in the kitchen didn't have on gloves. She was literally the only one beside the server who didn't have them on. She was touching our plates. I'm not sure if she prepped the food or not, but that's really all I saw that bothered me.

Whenever I travel to a small town I always find the local meat and 3 and the local BBQ. Todd's is Vernon's one and only BBQ joint. A group of 5 of us ventured over today. No Yelp profile or reviews. All 5 stars on FB. The facility appears to be a decommissioned gas station.Small old divey BBQ joint. Not much to look at. Looks kind of shabby. That's in my wheel house. I love a good dive. As long as the food is good.Table service / pay at the cashier stand when you depart format. This place was more dirty and old vs a good old dive. The menu covers the BBQ basics with a decent number of sides and other offerings such as salads, burgers, potatoes, a daily blue plate special and some seafood.2 of us went ribs, the other 2 went pulled pork plate.Reasonably priced. Ample portions for the price. The ribs which I had appear to be boiled and then baked in an oven which produces a rather gross texture. The ribs were unappealing gray with seasoning on top then poorly cut with slivers of bone throughout. The sauce is on the side which is good. The bbq sauce wasn't bad and was absolutely necessary to choke down some of these ribs. The bbq sauce was moderately spicy. My sides included tots and onion rings. The onion rings were quite good. Freshly cooked and super crisp. The server provided me with ranch. The rings were the absolute best part of my meal. The pork was reported as super dry and devoid of any seasoning. Likely boiled as well. One of my coworkers reported the beans and potato salad were good. This may be one of those we smoke the meat on Saturday and basically heat it up to serve throughout the week which I do not care for. Our server was not happy to be there today. She appeared angry. Very short with us. 0 personality. I thoroughly confused her by asking to exchange a 10 for a 5 and 5 ones. She told me such. I gave her a rather generous tip due to her inability to comprehend the math to break a 10. A couple coworkers questioned whether or not she may have had a substance altering her demeanor. I wouldn't go back.I'll stick to this small towns meat and 3 joint.
