The Growler

The Growler is the ideal spot in Oxford to hang out with a group of friends and grab some great beer on tap!I've been to The Growler quite a few times and have always had a great experience. I decided to swing in this week while back in town and it really held up. The staff working the bar are consistently awesome - they're personable, quick, and extremely helpful. The beer is always well poured. Their food is always great for the atmosphere. Some places tend to get lazy when serving bar food, but that is not the case for The Growler. There is so much seating available if you are planning to hang out with friends, and they have a few tvs and games available for use. It is somehow also a great spot for working - I have typed many, many papers here and have somehow never been too distracted despite this place often being filled with groups of people.

Horrible establishment. Rude bartenders, tacky decor and cheap mixers/liquors in all cocktails. I have been sick all day after visiting and consuming what is a normal amount of drinks for me. I suspect foul play and will never return.

Just come to The Growler - especially if you are camping at Sardis Lake on your visit to Oxford. This place is friendly and the food, beer and service is wonderful!

Best beer in Oxford hands down. Incredible selection!! The bar food is A1 too. Ambience is casual & laidback, love the courtyard outside as well.

This place is probably one of the better places in Oxford. That said, it's a weird spot. It's prime location, great selection but the interior is very weird. It's super bright, lots of open space (not in a good way) and random TV placement. My visit, i stood at a bar reading the menu and someone was behind the bar the entire time and didn't even acknowledge me. After quite some time, i finally asked a different person behind the bar and they explained their ordering process. That's a surefire way to have people leave upset. If you can't be bothered to acknowledge or speak to your customers I wouldn't plan on being in business very long. Once we got over that hurdle, I enjoyed a few barrel select whiskeys and a few beers.

A really cool beerhouse. 30+ brews on tap, each I tried was delicious.Can't vouch for the snack/food options but they looked good. Comfy indoor seating and outdoor options as well.Service was friendly and fast, prices fair.

Amazing place to catch up, get some work done, and hang out with friends. The growler has some amazing nachos, really cool and constantly changing selection, and nice local vibe. I love coming here for hours at a time to either drink with some friends or read a nice book. 10/10

Honestly, the guy who said he got called a 'right wing piece of shit' for refusing to wear his mask (when thee ex county was requiring masks, no less) was what got me in here. The beer is quite good, too.

Wow, so the beer selection is good and that's what you would go there for. As far as the food, sub par. Got a double smash burger with embarrassingly small over-cooked meat patties and they were out of cheddar so the pepper Jack but wouldn't have mattered. My partner got a Philly cheese steak which was the size and value of something from a gas station fridge. Can't say about anything else they have. Won't be back.

This is the first time I came in and the bartender named Cross was super helpful and friendly. I did not know what I wanted to drink and he let me try a lot of different beers which got me to the best beer I've ever tasted. Totally recommend the Ghost River Honey Wheat Ale!
