The Farmer at Railgarten

I have thoroughly enjoyed every single meal that I have had here. I don't know why this place isn't in on a wait all the minutes they are open. Yet every single time I come, they are only like half full. It is in a bit of a quirky spot being in the front of Railgarten, and the layout is definitely "diner'ish". Maybe that is why. I can't figure it out. Staff have always been great. In fact, they are usually exceptional. Personal and precise with their recommendations, while enforcing your choices will be great. This is exactly as it should be done. Slow clap..................Food is stellar. It's also been extremely creative in the past. The vanilla shrimp that was on the old menu was one of the most innovative ways I have seen to season shrimp. Last winter the brisket pot roast was convulsive good. Burgers are juicy and have a great char with maintaining moisture. Fish dishes are top notch. The steak I had one time was killer. The salmon patty appetizer on the last visit was stupendous. I did notice that the creativity is lacking in the latest menu. The food is still really good, the fried shrimp may be some of the best in Memphis, still, something seems off. Sides are paired way down and it's almost a bit boring actually. There is really only 7-8 things on the whole menu it seems. Oh well.... I'll still come as long as it's still good. My husband booked us reservations on open table here for Valentine's Day. We show up and the restaurant is closed. This is so disrespectful to the customer for our time and planning purposes. They need to update their times and turn off their open table reservations while they are closed.

Please update on OpenSeat that you are closed. Why are you allowing reservations?! My sister and I made plans for Valentines Day, and we had to scramble to find another place. I'm giving one star for the inconvenience of coming to Midtown. I may try again when you reopen.

Great drinks, and a cool location with great service.It was fairly empty, but parking was still awful. Recommend taking Uber if feasible. We ate Brussels, greens, green beans, and the grilled chicken sandwich. The greens were too sweet, but the sandwich was ! Amazing green beans.It's a creative little spot, I'd like to go back for their pimento cheese sandwich.

My wife and I landed here after an outing at Playhouse on the Square. The ambiance is upscale but casual and comfortable. Casual wear is fine but I don't think I would go with shorts and a t-shirt. Their menu isn't extensive but there is definitely something for everyone. We started out with the hummus and pimento cheese dip appetizer. They will bring you more pita chips if you need them (you will). Both are made in-house and are delicious! We decided to split a burger after that and went with the pimento, bacon cheese burger. It comes with fries by default but definitely ask about the veggie of the day! We lucked out and they were serving Brussel sprouts. They were pan roasted with cranberries and they were also delicious! The burger was very good but they cook all their burgers to well done, which we wished wasn't the case. To mgmt. you don't have to go all the way to cooking to order but maybe let people choose a little pink!The service was outstanding, but unfortunately I forgot to remember her name! She was super friendly and provided just the right amount of attention. The only thing I saw that put me off, and is the reason I dropped to 4 stars from 5, is the kitchen staff on a cell phone! I cannot stand seeing cell phones in hourly workers hands but in good service it is just gross. I didn't watch to see if they washed their hands after handling that thing (I didn't really want to know) but I hope they did.

So surprised at how empty this place was on a saturday evening. We were the only ones in the restaurant by the end of our meal. Our server Alex was attentive and friendly. Food and drinks were great as well. I would recommend this Memphis restaurant to anyone. We got a chance to walk around the grounds after dinner but the vibe seemed more adult and less "family friendly" as advertised but we were happy to call it a night anyways.

The food here is remarkable. They have the best brisket pot roast in Memphis. We had a great experience for Mother's Day, We made reservations and was promptly seated on time. The ambiance is very welcoming . They have Amazing sides, like the Mac and Cheese and also the Grits was a hit too . Staff here is extremely friendly and made great recommendations .Thank you so much Rebekah for our great experience; we will definitely be back again....

Quaint space with a casual and moody vibe. The fried shrimp and fries were excellent. Service was good. We went on Sunday for dinner and it wasn't busy at all. They close at 8pm on Sundays.

We loved the Devilled Egg Appetizer! Fantastic flavor! My Slpppy Joe had chunks of seet potato in it, and I enjoyed the variety. My son loved the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. The Farmer's Daughter was a light refreshing drink, and the Black Beard Apple Pie was an even better drink. I just wish we had saved room for dessert! Park onsite and enjoy the great service and food.- you will be glad you came!

This is the restaurant (not the outdoor venue next door). When I arrived during the weekday, the parking lot was full but the restaurant wasn't full. I then realized, they also had a patio/outdoor bar next to the restaurant. :) The host and server was very friendly and the server provided a lot of guidance and suggestions when I told her I was visiting the area for work. I started with the deviled eggs - a few were plain, a few had pimento cheese but they were tasty. I am a fan of sloppy joes and wanted to try their homemade sandwich since the menu states it includes root veggies in the mixture. I chose the sweet potato hash and roasted broccoli for my sides. The sloppy joe was huge so I was able to bring half the sandwich and some hash as leftovers. I was the only person inside the restaurant by the time my entree was cooked but the staff was very professional and routinely asked how I enjoyed my meal. If I had more time in the city, I would have checked out their music venue
