The Cake Lady Bakery

I love this bakery. We pop in a few times a year for birthdays or other celebrations. We always get the cupcakes. They're always moist and delicious. Also, I love that they are not over-the-top ridiculous. Bakery cupcakes are often gigantic, extreme in their frosting and fillings and decorations plus add-ons like candy or candy bars...and usually dry and bland tasting. Not here! Cupcakes are reasonably sized, moist and flavorful, simple but with variety...and reasonably priced!We always get the cupcakes but this time I wanted to also try their cookies. Dang! Very good. Four cupcakes, four cookies, $20, everything was fantastic.

My order was not ready! I ordered a king cake the week before Fat Tuesday. On their website when placing an order you can select the date and time you want to pick up your order. Times are in 15 minute increments starting at 7:30am which is when they open (see screenshot showing how it looks on their site). I selected 7:45am figuring I would actually pick it up 8ish but that would have it ready to go even if they were running a little behind and received an order confirmation stating this time. When I went to pick up my cake I was told they had just come out of the oven and would be ready at 845am. When I questioned why they specified pick up times if they aren't going to honor them I was told "that time is system generated and just means morning pickup". First off, that is a lie because I CHOSE that time. Second, they open at 7:30am so how is the customer supposed to know what mysterious time they are going to choose for their morning pickups to be ready. Apparently they don't have customers who want to pick up orders on their way to work. They way they run this business I am surprised they have any customers at all. Yes, I got my money back but this robbed another Desoto County bakery of my business. If they can't have orders ready in the early morning that's fine but don't have early morning times available on the site so people can order elsewhere.

I hate leaving negative reviews. Having that said it broke me down to tears when I went to go pick up my cake. # 1, it wasn't ready on time. #2 the cake was ugly, as heck. Looked nothing like the picture. As a professional if you cannot accomplish something let your customer know and not half ass something that's rushed and sloppy. For 400 dollars I expected AT LEAST decency! #3 I broke down to tears and all she could say was "well you can either take it or leave it." Like gave no other solution to a problem she made. #4 She tried invalidate my feelings by saying "oh people are gunna love it." Girl no everyone said it looked like crap before my sister and I fixed it. Completely gaslighting me during the whole situation. I'm 8 months pregnant and my cake look like a 5 year old made it. #5 , I wasn't given any other options like I said before not even a partial discount nor credit nor "I apologize for messing up your cake because I couldn't do it." If YOU KNOW YOU MESSED UP DO SOMETHING! This wasn't the first time I bought a custom cake from her so I thought I was in good hands because hey you want clientele to come back right? WRONG! Lacks customer service skills, empathy and can't even admit when she messed up. Please don't order from her, doesn't care nor cared to fix the situation. If you want your desserts to NOT be one of your worries turn away now. The first three are what she gave me. Then the reference photo and the last one is how we manage to fix it before my baby shower. Also found some hairs and little fuzzy microfiber hairs. The last picture is how ME AND MY SISTER FIXED IT!

Went in on 3/25/2021 ordered a cake for my fences birthday on 03/25/2021. Gave the girl at the register a photo on my phone of what I wanted. She should it to the lady decorating cakes who gave her a price. I emailed the photo to the requested address. Did not here back from anyone until today 03/24/2021. First call was they could not find the picture, resent the photo. Next call was them accusing me of sending the wrong pic because this cake was fondant not buttercream. And there was no way they could do that in a days time and for that price. the cake decorator that had given the original price had commented at the time it was a lot of fondant work. they did refund my money. But I'm still out of a cake for tomorrow. Highly would not recommend.

I am an extreme sweet lover and sometimes I'm just craving a cupcake for a snack. I passed this bakery a plethora of times and finally decided to stop in. & I'm so happy I did! They have cupcakes, pies, cookies, bars, and soooo many other things! They even sale the "day old" cupcakes for a discounted price. I decided to grab the cookies & cream, red velvet, and cherry limeade cupcakes and they were delicious! The cherry limeade gave me fruity pebbles over tones but nonetheless, it was very tasty. Their buttercream was so smooth and not too sweet, just how I like it!

The brownies/bars that were offered as samples were VERY dry. Not an influence to purchase them, ever. The cupcakes are not displayed well to see all the flavors. Unless you just "know" you will miss flavors on the bottom shelf (in the back). Maybe a board that displays/lists the flavors would be beneficial. Service was friendly. Nothing fancy about the taste, not sure if it warranted a return visit.

I was asked to send a picture of the cake I wanted. Today I came in two hours early and they stated I needed to come at 1230 which was no issue. When I arrived at 1225 she was still creating and decorating the cake. She was rushing to get the decorations on and was not paying attention to the details. This is what I asked for vs what I received. It looks like something for a baby vs a 16yr old. The small things make all the difference. Things I don't like:Pink around the mid section of the cakeThe black cursive writing vs the larger lettering on the pictured cakeThe bulky purse with the horrible frilly things Overall presentation isn't what I was looking for AT ALL.This cake looks like a bad knock off handbag! ‍‍‍‍‍‍

I will drive from Arlington to Mississippi any day for a Cake Lady Bakery Cake. Everyone is always so kind, cake was ready on time and the ambiance of smelling fresh home made baked cakes will make your soul smile We got the key lime cake and it was delicious

I ordered a cream cheese king cake to be picked up Friday at 1:00 for my Mothers Mardi Gras themed birthday party the next day. I had a lot to do so I needed to get the cake at 1:00 (our agreed upon time). I got there at 1:05. The woman told me the cream cheese king cakes wouldn't be ready for another hour. She said I could come back, choose the other flavor they had ready, or get a refund. She never called or texted me stating my order, which I already paid for, would not be ready. I didn't have time to wait and I had to have it the next day. I had no other choice than to get the other flavor option that wasn't my Motber's favorite flavor. This was my first time ordering from them and I will not order from them again. They may not think my Mother's Birthday was important but I did, and there are several other fantastic bakeries to choose from.

I need suggestions on what to do. I ordered a cake from the Cake Lady for my Aunt and Uncles 60th Anniversary almond wedding cake with strawberry filling and they took my payment immediately. Picked it up Saturday, when we cut it, it was no strawberry filling ‍. So I call them today to tell them about it and they told me I got what I ordered. I said no it didn't have strawberry filling, she said that they didn't have strawberry filling written down, but I explained where I have a text from the day before from my cousin in Texas telling me what kind of cake to order. She said she couldn't do anything about my complaint because the employee didn't write down strawberry filling. She asked me if I would like to order another cake with strawberry filling . I asked for the owner's name but was told by Felicia they couldn't give out that information. I'm not used to paying 70 plus dollars for a cake that was made incorrectly. Help
