Tacos Borolas

This place looks bad on the outside but the food is good. The parking lot is filled with pot holes and there are no lines for the parking spots. The inside is a grocery store that feels like a freezer. The staff are not very attentive. They probably did not have many dine-in customers during the pandemic and they have not transitioned to serving people. The wait for our food was over 30 minutes even though we were the only people in the place.The food tasted great. I ordered a steak quesadilla and chicken taco. We were not given chips and salsa but I was not bothered by that. Both items were filled with meat and seasoned to perfection.I may return if I have over an hour to wait.

Best Chorizo TacosThis is a cute little restaurant inside of a store. I think they were separated before but now they're connected so you can shop and eat and pay for it all at once.They sell a variety of meats and you can order tacos here. They only sell carnitas on the weekend. I'm not a big fan because it comes with a lot of cueritos (pork skin) mixed in and I'm not a fan of the texture. Also the flavor was just meh for me but hubby likes it and says the tacos are pretty good. My stomach usually can't handle chorizo because of all the grease, but this place doesn't soak their chorizo in grease so I was able to eat it and really liked it. The flavor is excellent and hubby loves it as well. The al pastor was great and very sweet. The chicken had a unique flavor that I really liked. The tacos also came with some salsa which helped enhance the flavors without overwhelming it. They also sometimes have the jalapeno salsa that I'm obsessed with. I loved it here. Man the meat is right there waiting for you since they sell it in. It tasted really good. So good I forgot to leave a bite of my chorizo taco for my wife. Oops. Sorry wife. I wanted to order more but I was stuffed after. I will be back.

How come this place only have two reviews?? I had been wanting to check it out ever since a fellow yelper mentioned they have eyeball tacos (something you just don't forget) and became a fan after one visit. First of all, they have home-made horchata, Jamaica (with "j" pronounced as "h", of course) and tamarind drinks. Even my beloved La Michoacana doesn't have this Jamaican flower drink (water flavored with roselle, a kind of Hibiscus). It was very refreshing with a perfect balance of tartness and sweetness. The only Jamaican place in town serves a similar drink called Sorrel. With Taco Borolas, our Parkway Villagers don't even have to drive north of 240 to satisfy our cravings for exotic drinks, woohoo!I never ordered quesadillas in a restaurants since they are so easy to make at home, but a corn tortilla quesadilla was new to me. The corn tortilla shell was unlike the corn tortillas for tacos but similar in texture to what you will get for sopes -- fried cornmeal dough. It's thicker than regular corn tortillas but not too thick, not greasy, great texture from the cornmeal...making my home-made quesadillas seem lame by comparison. The chipotle chicken and mushroom filling was very savory and satisfying. There is a side table with three different kinds of home-made salsa and taco fixings like radish, onions, cilantro and whole grilled jalapenos. Salsa was a little runny. I tried the one marked as Very Spicy, and it wasn't deadly since I survived to tell the tale. I do wish they could keep the salsa on ice though. There are some specials written in Spanish on the blackboard near the entrance. Now if I knew what eyeball is in Spanish... Oh, the La ilusion Bakery next door might be the biggest panaderia I have seen in Memphis.Taco Borolas is quite special in my book.

I was in an area of town in which I never travel and of course, I was hungry. Lucky for me, I ran across this really good authentic Mexican restaurant and decided to give it a try. I am glad I did! I decided to try the Chile Verde Con Cerdo which was really cooked to perfection. The pork roast chunks were so tender, you would swear it was stewed in a crock pot. Also to make it even better it was swimming in a delicious green chili sauce! The sides with this dish included the standard rice and beans, which were also prepared properly. I also had a side of some of the best homemade guacamole that I have ever had and tried a few of the homemade salsas. They have a salsa bar for you pepper heads with choices that range from barely spicy to light your ass on fire!!!Taco Borolas seems to be a family run/ mom and pop establishment. It shows through the love of their food and the cleanliness of the restaurant. I believe the owner waited on me but the entire staff was very nice. The prices were were very good and inline with type of restaurant. If I find myself in this area of town again, I will definitely give them another go. I enjoyed it!

Great authentic Mom and Pop Mexican restaurant. Try one of the specials when you stop by, they don't disappoint. Today I had a pork in verde sauce meal with rice and beans and hot made to order tortillas. Boy am I stuffed.

This is maybe my favorite taco spot ever. Cheap price food always like my first time. Recipe for success.

Just had to try a new place today at lunch and remembered this little place while I was near. Must say they had very good tacos and the guacamole was in the top few I've had. The meats were very well seasoned and were tender. They had a good selection of salsas, onions ( grilled and raw chopped ), grilled jalapeño , etc to put on your order. Other than saying Pepsi, Coke, etc, I am pretty sure I was the only person who spoke English( or didn't speak Spanish). Everyone was super nice and I've ordered enough authentic food that the food came out hot and exactly how it was ordered. The place was very clean and tidy ( including the bathroom ). I enjoyed the meal, will go back to try the other menu items and would recommend giving it a try!

This Texan was in need of authentic Mexican food after being on the road so long. This place answered my prayers! Either order from the truck out front or go inside and have a seat. The salsa was amazing but could've used a little more heat. There is a salsa bar in the back once you get your tacos and it includes spicier salsas. My only complaint is that the guy chops the fajita beef to the point it's almost small crumbles. Let the beef be beef!

I like their tacos al pastor y gorditas. Weekends they carry traditional posole & menudo. Both delicious.
