My sister and I were traveling by car across country, and I always like to consult the "Roadfood" books & website to find local eateries that feature regional specialties. On an earlier trip (and I wish we'd had a chance to go there on this trip as well) that's how I'd found the phenomenol Cozy Corner, in business for over 45 years now. The first line of Michael Stern's Roadfood review is: "If you have time for just one barbecue meal in Memphis (or anywhere on planet earth), go to Cozy Corner." No joke, amazing, I'm still thinking about it 10 years after I ate there!Consulting the Roadfood website on this trip as well, we went to this address, expecting to see (and eat at) the Blue Plate Café, which had been in that location for a long time. Well, silly me, I didn't cross-check with the Blue Plate's website (or lack of website) to see if they were still open. When we showed up, the parking lot was full (always a good sign), but the sign now read "Sunrise Memphis." And did we luck out! What a happy surprise! We poked our heads in to see lively scene that also smelled great! In the 'fast casual' format, you order at the counter, and grab a seat. I ordered the "King Biscuit (fried chicken, country ham, over easy egg, topped with sausage gravy)," and my sister ordered the "Best Omelette (spinach, artichoke, tomato, goat cheese, salsa verde and scallions, served with a biscuit)" and they were both great. Fresh, generous portions, and they came out pretty quick! Really nice staff, fun & upbeat interior design, plus a great soundtrack made for a memorable brunch. I wish I lived closer, I'd love more chances to try the whole menu. I'll just have plan my next trip to Memphis for a return visit to Sunrise Memphis (AND Cozy Corner, plus so many more)!

As a lifelong Memphian, Sunrise is the best breakfast/brunch spot Memphis has had in my lifetime. They have the best biscuits in Memphis by a mile (with really great jam). There is a line out the door for a reason, but once you order at the counter, the food arrives always within 5 minutes. The prices are beyond fair for both the quantity and quality of food you get. Plus, they have a good diversity of specials they offer on a rotating weekly basis. Don't let the line scare you since you have to order at the counter, the longest I have had to wait is probably 25min, but definitely worth it for the best breakfast in Memphis!Attachments: The kitchen sink- as you can see great consistency everytime!

Sunrise is one of my Memphis favorites! This place is my kind of jam!Speaking of jam, let start with this, they have one of the best homemade jams that I have ever had. It is special all on its own. You should get some and thank me later. I accept all forms of payment. Just message me. The front door area can get quite congested as the counter is about 8' from the door. Walk in, order right at the counter, and have a seat. You'll need to jam your number in the little stand so that they can find you later. You want them to find you as fast as they can, because you are about to be eating well! Jam on it!I don't believe I've ever had a bad meal here. All of the food is great. It is sourced and curated in local places when it can be, and almost everything seems to be homemade. The names on the menu are cute, creative, and funny. My favorite item by far is "The Kitchen Sink". It has every single thing I love involved. I add a side of gravy every time to use on half my biscuit. The other half gets the jam, yo... it has eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns, grit girl grits, and a sunrise biscuit. Damn. The sausage biscuit is as solid of a biscuit sandwich as you will find in the Mid South. Add, guess what... some jam, and that mother is killer. McBetter is even better with egg and cheese! The P'Love is another interesting breakfast choice. Fried bbq bologna with egg and cheese isn't the healthiest thing, but who cares!?!?! You only live once!I also love the King Biscuit Bowl! Hell.... I love it all. No need to beat a dead horse...They even have some really healthy options available as well, not that I care. LOL All in all the menu is a hit because each item is crafted from spectacular ingredients and the menu is chef driven. These guys know how to do it! The lunch menu is also great although I tend to stick to breakfast when I come. I need to branch out because there are some really interesting choices offered. I see an Italian beef sandwich, a fried green tomato BLT, and some good looking salads. Ryan had the best fried chicken sandwich I have ever had at Sweet Grass when it was open. It was called "The Dirty Bird". They have a version of it on this menu, but it's not the same. I would pay big money to get the recipe for the big puffy crunchy fries he had at SG. They also have a whole ass bar with some good looking bloodies, boozy coffees, mixed cocktails, and champagne drinks that I haven't even had. I normally wait until after 5:00 so I don't feel like a complete drunk. They close at 2:00, you see...Anyway... see you here soon! I love you Sunrise!'24 - 92/101

Less busy and just as good! I think the atmosphere is more my speed. There's more parking. Rooster reunion, avocado toast, latte and Coffee hit the spot. All is clean and food was good! Recommended!

Fantastic eats, great recommendations, a love letter to Memphis. We visited the location near many of the historical sites like the National Civil rights museum and Lorraine Hotel. It was a great start to our day. Food cooked to perfection except for the sausages that were a little overcooked. All is forgiven! The rest of the food made up for it. The fluffiest biscuits saved the day. You should go!

Me and my husband dined here for breakfast. The food was fast and the restaurant was bright with a diner aesthetic. The portions and pricing were great . However , the taste of the food was just okay ..the blueberry pancakes were not mixed properly..I tasted too much flour. I enjoyed the latte and bacon .

Sunrise Memphis is always a great choice. They have a very simple but diverse menu, so you're bound to find something. The Breakfast of Champions bowl is wonderful and full of flavor considering it's a vegan option. The Rocky Mountain omelette is also outstanding, but slightly salty from the country ham--which is normal. The omelette also comes with a biscuit which makes the entire plate a filling portion. Great service, coffee, and ambience!

Solid go-to for a good breakfast, though nothing earth shattering. Busy. Pretty darn good biscuits. A few novel options.Dropped the mutt off a Barks and Rec for a sleepover while the Scientist and I headed out for a weekend. To get on the road quick, grabbed breakfast to take back to the lair.TOP TIP: there's a to-go order station at the bar accessible through the BACK of the restaurant. This greatly streamlined my in/out quick strike as the line was out the door and around the corner of the building. Order placed, and out the door within 5 minutes- I received a text when the food was ready, walked back inside and was intercepted by a young lady with my order bagged. Brief digression: what is it with white folk (of which I am one) and cramming in to breakfast places to the degree that road becomes snarled, the traffic pattern a cluster of confusion, rage, and defeat? A la, Chik-fil-A and Sunrise? I just don't get it. Breakfast is, as I see it, the least important meal of the day...you skip it and get to be early for other stuff. It's also, if you're into fasting (for whatever reason), defeatist: breakfast in my mind, translates roughly to 'break the fast'. Breakfast as the most important meal of the day may come from the same apocryphal marketing operation that created such efforts as sugar-laden cereals for children becoming the daily routine. Ok, that's done.Food: bi bim was diversely textured, an adventure to each, light but filling; a really good non-standard starter. The sauce offered added umami, which was a welcomed change to most heavy tasting butter/flour/meat combos that breakfast brings to the table. The biscuits were very good. They fell apart, so all the flakiness and buttery-ness you'd expect. Bacon was plentiful, sausage was spicy. Eggs can be ordered a variety of ways but come over-hard as the default, cheese is a good melty cheddar.

So easy to place a take-out order and pay online. My food was ready within minutes, and I was notified via text. Everything was delicious. Love this place!
