They sell beer but you can bring your own wine and liquor. They were out of several menu items the night we went. Also, be sure to ask about payment in advance of ordering. The night we went there we were told their credit card reader was down. It was either cash or Venmo the waitress. WTF?

I was visiting a my friend Luke in Oxford at Woodson Ridge Farm and he told me I had to get to Sumner Mississippi and try the Sumner Grill. I travel the Delta a lot and I made a note to get by here as soon as I could because Big Luke knows good food.I worked my way up to Sumner and slid in for lunch just before they closed. All smiles, they quickly took my order (for a burger of course) and I sat back and admired the building. The restaurant is coming up on its 2 year anniversary this summer and the remodel is fantastic. Lots of seating, a nice bar, a patio and even a private room.I got my burger and it came back perfect. Burgers are super important to me because they tell me everything I need to know about a restaurant. First, they ask how I want it cooked. Medium. This burger came back Medium. Check. Second, they gave me a cheese choice. Check. Last, they veggies on it were farm fresh. No bland tomatoes here. Flat top goodness with a nice crisp on the outside. 5 stars. The dinner menu looks fantastic. I can't wait to make the road trip up there again and have some seared tuna or maybe a Porterhouse......If you are touring the Delta, make the drive to Sumner. This place and this town are spot on.

Went for brunch last Sunday, which is unheard of (first brunch spot that I've found in the Delta)!Drove 45 minutes and caught the end of brunch, which was unfortunate because by the time we got there they were out of alot of items. The service though was very good and accommodating. The atmosphere was very nice. The only complaint about the service was that near the end of the meal, they turned the music off and the staff was extremely loud socializing while we were trying to finish our meal, (granted they were trying to close, but it was still rude).I ordered the steak Benedict, which was solid. The hollandaise was unique from what I've ever had before, but good. The steak was just ok.My girlfriend had to settle with a Shrimp Po Boy, which was good, but nothing special. (She was really set on trying the Grits and Grillades, but they were out).Overall it was pretty good but not necessarily worth the 45 minute drive. I do have high expectations though if I come earlier next time. Also, they serve beer but is BYO wine/liquor... (i.e. mimosas or bloody marys for brunch)

Always love my steak at Sumner Grille. The mushrooms are a must with any steak. Others at the table enjoyed the fish special, but the steak is my choice. The staff is the definition of southern manners. Big smiles and they honestly make an effort to make every visit at the Sumner Grille a great one. The atmosphere is truly unique and very well done. Most important for this time of year, the air conditioning works great. The Delta has a lot of small town restaurant and the Sumner Grille is at the top of the list.

This place use to be very good with great people who would greet you at the door but since the new owner has taken over this place has went downhill the server has a jacked up attitude as soon as you come in the door it takes forever to get food even if you're the only ones in there as soon as you ask the server for something to drink she gets mad the gas station has better service

Bread is the best. Grilled quail special was exceptionally tender. Good sweet southern service. Quaint location.

OMG the bread! You will want to just eat bread and water.Nice restaurant on the town square. Good service. Bar. Good food. A tad pricey at $25 for blackened salmon, however. Still, will return.

This place used to be good. They are constantly out of stuff. The last time I came, my steak was burnt! This time they were out of egg rolls, out of redfish, and out of a burger!!! The owner was extremely rude when I complained and blamed it on Sysco!!! She raised her voice with me and blamed running out of food on great business. This restaurant is never crowded and they had a total of 5 tables occupied tonight! I will never come back here even though it is the only restaurant in town and I can walk here! The owner didn't even apologize for being out of food or offer something at a discounted price. Rude! Rude! Rude! There was also NO toilet paper in the bathroom and NO paper towels. NO napkins and we had to ask for silverware!

We had heard this place had really great food. We came in and were seated promptly. The entire restaurant was empty except for bar patrons. Our waitress was very sweet. It was really hot though, and the waitress pointed a little fan in our direction. We each ordered. We had the ribeye and 8 oz filets which were incredibly expensive to me at 35 and 38$. But we thought they must be good from what we had heard. When our food was brought out my husband cut into his ribeye which was ordered medium and it was very well done or as he said. Charred. My filet was ordered medium well and it was. Our meat tasted like nothing but meat and sadness. We were a party of 8 and all ordered steaks and not one steak was cooked to the right temperature they were all the same, overlooked and dry. My husband asked for the cook and the manager came out she offered to not charge us for our drinks. We will never go there again. You can get a better steak at western sizzling.
